Perfect timing on this video for me. I decided to spend the winter learning how to hop. I'm miles away from being able to do it, but I might as well start. The most difficult part for me is to stay motivated. I get so frustrated when I fail over and over again that I usually park the bike in the garage, close the door and quit.

Did you see the rolling front wheel hopping video? It was a real breakthrough to help offset the balance challenges

Hey, nice video. Can we get a part 2 for the Rear brake drills? Do you have some different techniques to learn to remember to take the rear brake as an muscle memory?

Good question. I'll look into it. Just off the top of my head, After wheelie to rear brake, I'd add zap to hold pressure and add brake, then ride ups to rear brake on top etc. Just make that rear brake the focus and use smaller obstacles.

When you land & turn the front wheel, try turning shoulders & hips almost parallel with the bars, whilst looking where you're heading, (the obstacle), not the wheel. Feel how stability improves. Obvs you straighten the wheel b4 launch, so then turn the torso with it.

Also, I can see here that when balancing, your outside knee (eg if front wheel points left, then the right knee) sometimes tucks in & you lose stability. Keep it open, keep your attention in *this* knee & "feather" it out to counter inward tip of bike. Thinking into the knee is *way* easier to feel than precise peg weighting in the feet, & allows you to do less push-pull on the bars & so relax shoulders & upper body. This creates more "sink" & reduces stiffness.

With some elite riders these points are hardly visible as their balance is so sensitive, but check eg Cabers posture - his torso & knee positions are just perfect. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZeTpn1_orV_ZpYsi=sbBwNLfsUD3AulBw

My knee tipping in is a recent thing. I hadn't thought much about why I was doing that. Thanks for the insight. I'll work on it.

@@TrialsProgression When you're turning, you don't do it - there yr outside knee looks excellent, so you've got the feel.

You can also correct the balance by moving your leg laterally, which I think is easier.

Oh yes, good point ☝️ just like a leg out fulcrum if it's not too far out of balance.

The leg out-weight forward-body/leg counterbalance is best for when balancing with the front wheel straight.

Hi! Love your videos. I hope all is well? Been quietly hoping for an EM update video but the channel seems a bit quiet? Thanks and wishing you well.

Thanks for reaching out. Just got busy and it was really poor weather for a while. Took 5 weeks off riding. Longest break in 3 years. Back at it now. Good video idea, 😉 sometimes it's hard to know what to film. 🤷‍♂️ EM update to come this week.
