If the hair is lighter, say a level 7/8 and you don't want as much blonde coverage for fear of losing contrast on a retouch will the 2 cm separation between sections still leave enough dimension? Or would you recommend another technique instead? Perhaps a few strategically placed brosse/balayage singles?
@TheLifeOfHair

Hi thanks for your question yes you can deafly still use this technique like you just said leave larger spaces in between each of the strands of light or alternatively leave more depth in between each of your subsections as you work through the technique hope helps all the best James

Dolly Parton I sooooo get what you are saying about the roots but you know smudging the roots with a similar base color as the clients hair and combining the smudged area to meet where your balayage begins helps alot. It makes the colors melt together beautifully!!

Hi what’s the difference between skip slice and ribbon weave
@TheLifeOfHair

Skip slices tend to be in foil And much Thinner the same thickness as What you would put in a foil where as a ribbon with tends to be deeper more triangular shaped to create more dimension similar to a balayage technique

@TheLifeOfHair

It very much depends on this particular technique I didn’t go all the way through the section but sometimes I do it will depend on hair density if it’s thick and there’s lots of hair then I tend not to dig too deep into the section and go all the way through where is it the hair is fine I want more hair in my section

2 quick questions. If I’ve been using a mixture of 5NN and 6NN w 20 developer always on my ever graying hair. 1) once I’ve got the regrowth colored...waited a week. Can I mix up 1/2 7NN and 1/2 developer to paint on and brighten my brown? 2) how do you frame face with mid nose length bangs/ the "money" term. Blending from shoulder length to bangs I think is difficult. Is there an easy answer? Cheers from Kentucky

@TheLifeOfHair
@TheLifeOfHair 4 жыл бұрын
Fantastic Sarah glad you loved the end result, No there was no face frame with baby lights in this particular instance the light that was just normal blue powder bleach mixed on a 1 to 1.5 ratio so 45 g of pro oxide to 30 g of blue powder bleach. Yes this wasn’t my most comprehensive video in times of the tutorial it was more of a showcase of the technique it was just some leftover footage that I’d found some way back when I used to do Instagram videos so I just messed it up for KZbin but I’m glad you found it useful nevertheless 😁👍🏻

but pls don't forget to tell us WHAT volume of developer ( 20,30,40 % ??) you use ? we miss these VERY IMPORTANT infos in your videos ... thank you :-)

Yes I did leave out things like this in some of the videos just forget to mention it also it’s very relative to the level of left you want to achieve in this particular instance I use 30 volume 9% but in other instances I would use 40 volume or even 20 volume it very much depends on the darkness of the hair and the level of left I want to achieve that is why I generally don’t talk about it in the videos hope that makes sense all the best James

Did you add somewhere, what products you used, what volume of developer, which bonder? If so, I’ve missed it. Would you mind listing the items here? Thank you!! 👍

Thanks for the comment I used it was Redken power lift + 30 Vol If you’re unfamiliar with Redken power left it’s a cream-based Lightner with eight levels of lift, Toner wise it was Redken shades EQ 09N plus 09V and Bonder I think was either olaplex Or PH bonder. Best James

How many sections did you take
@TheLifeOfHair
@TheLifeOfHair 4 жыл бұрын
The amount of sections you take depends on how many points of light you want up at the root area and also how much colour you’d like to see through the ends so for instance in this particular technique I took about 7 up each back panel 2 in the crown and around 3 on the front panels 😁👍🏻

Wats this?! In final result you should show whole head from far not hair from near only but to see full result from roots to ends.

Yer I generally do that but I didn’t film the finish and the person who filmed it filmed in portrait and not landscape so I had to crop in post thus creating the tight images you see in this video ✌🏻

Couldn't you just tease the ribboned out pieces of hair? Also could one use a blending brush instead of their hands and get the same results?
@TheLifeOfHair
@TheLifeOfHair 5 жыл бұрын
Yes both of those things will work taking slightly more time to tease the pieces and more time at the backwash taking the teasing out so it’s effectively a slower technique generally doing it like that but that will give you a beautiful result though, And yes you could use a blending brush to blend out instead of your hands but again everything you do like that adds time to the technique so it will extend it from being an express technique into a technique that takes around the hour mark. But if time is an issue to you then absolutely go for both or my advice is try teasing and hand bending to start with the teasing will give you a little bit more of a safety net the get used to hand blending. I hope that helps best J

This could be the solution for me since my hair is vey fine, every time I go to the salon they tell me it won't look right because it's too hard to blend.

@@TheLifeOfHair I have a question please. Let's say I try this same technique on natural hair color level 2/3 and it lifts to a level 4/4.5 but I want them a 5/6 how can I lighten without turning my beautiful balayage pattern into a full blown ombre? Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙏.
