Andrew Coggburn was my 2 Great Grandfather Samuel Allen Coggburn’s 1st cousin. I have at home a hand written version of the mocking song Andrew wrote. I am not sure who gave it to my grandparents but it was from someone who knew or had heard the song. I have heard several stories passed down from my grandparents and grand aunt about how they kidnapped my 2 Great Grandfather Joseph Dilks taking him for a joy ride one night. He was returned unharmed but shaken. Also he related a story of Nat Kinney coming to Jospeh’s house to pick a bone with him but he “hem hawed around” as Nat realized Joseph had a 45 under a newspaper as they were talking. My great Aunt would tell me stories of them coming to her grandparents home and leave hickory sticks and vandalize the farm. I have several ancestors buried in the Van Zandt cemetery. Great job on the videos!

Would you be willing to share the lyrics? I’d like to record the song! If you have a scan of the document I could put an image on screen. I can be reached via messenger on the Madame Morbid Facebook page. That would be awesome if you are willing! What an amazing story thank you for sharing it with me!

Great history and delicious cows😜 Up until about 3 months ago I thought the Baldnobbers was just a show on the Branson strip! I love Table Rock so hearing history of the area is super interesting to me! Keep it coming

At least one of my ancestors if not more was a Bald Knobber out of Taney county. Isaac Stockstill, my great great uncle, murdered a Sheriff and hightailed it to Colorado to escape. He later returned in Stone county in his old age. My mother knew him as a young girl. He is buried in an unmarked grave in Yocum Creek Cemetery.

Very interesting, what sheriff did he kill? Might be interesting to investigate that. Thanks for watching!

very interesting bit of history. I had never heard of the Baldnobbers. throughout history groups like the Baldnobbers spread their hatred and vigilante justice on descent folks.
@MMorbid2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, while I feel they were justified in forming the group, the justice system really wasn’t functioning as it should, but their solution wasn’t much better and went bad very quickly. I’ve heard of Bald Knobbers my whole life. Branson has capitalized on their name like crazy, but I don’t think many people know much about what they really were, including myself until very recently.

@@MMorbid I am from California, and had not heard of the Baldnobbers before. Shows you the diversity of history that has made America. again, really enjoyed this story.
