Honestly, I respect people who can successfully foster. it's very difficult & hugely important. They're able to put the dogs' welfare & other peoples' happiness above their own. I couldn't do it. I'd foster fail every time & end up with so many animals that I couldn't give any of them the attention they deserve, so I stick to donating resources to support the folks who can & do.

I kinda hope the previous owner can see this and know that this sweet baby is okay. They must have been heartbroken not being able to help, allergies are not easy to deal with and i imagine the vet bills were absolutely horrendous. Sometimes a home just doesn't work out right and he didn't look neglected or hurt besides his skin, so he seems to have been taken care of.

They love with all their heart, and they hurt with all their heart, so I can only imagine how heart breaking it must’ve been to be discarded by his family when he needed them the most…but their loss is this woman’s gain, and now Clyde has his real ohana! I imagine they probably couldn't afford the cost of the vet care and medications, and/or they didn't have the time and resources to give him the care he needed. Even if thats the case, it would have been nice if they'd admitted they couldn't cope and surrendered him sooner, though. The poor guy must have been in pain and sooo incredibly itchy and uncomfortable.

@New_California_Republic-i1e It isn't *just* allergies. Allergies that severe usually need considerable medical intervention. You may need to try multiple antihistamines to find one that works and is tolerated, he may well need more than one type of medication to control it, and he almost certainly needs creams regularly applied to his skin, too. Testing to establish what he is allergic to so his owner can avoid triggers may well have been needed and is both time-consuming and expensive. Plus, she specifically states in the video that, when they took him on, he also required antibiotics and lots of medicated baths. The video also showed how he required a heck of a lot of care taken of him just in and around the home, beyond what an "average" dog would need. Please understand, *nothing* justifies letting an animal get into that sort of state. I'm just saying that this may well be why, even if the previous owners did love the dog, they felt they couldn't keep him.

Or he could have been a stray and have got so bad because he never had an owner. They don't specify in the video. I was just giving one possible reason why even people who genuinely loved this dog might have needed to give her up.

We had a pittie girl whos skin rashes weren't controlled by the max dose of apoquel. A couple of squirts of salmon oil stopped her itching and cleared her rashes. That stuff is like magic.
