12:43 Second part in Russian: "For the Motherland shed blood forever sacred in memory." Dedicated to the soldiers of the 28th Army, who died in battles during the great Patriotic war. On the territory where the monument is located today, the advance of German troops towards Astrakhan was stopped. Inside the obelisk on both sides of the through passage are niches in which information plates with the names of military formations that participated in the battle of Hulhut are placed. On the right side of the obelisk are several mass graves, in which the fallen soldiers of the 28th army are buried, the remains of which are found in our time by search teams. At graves tablets with names of the victims are established.

Good lord, I drove from one end of Kansas to the other on my trip from Pennsylvania to Colorado in 2011. I was literally calling everyone I knew on my phone to try to keep from going insane. I thought I was going to run out of gas at one point because there were simply no exits for god knows how long. When I finally came to one, the "town" (and it was suggested as such from signs) was an abandoned diner and a gas station. Thank fuck the latter was still open. Lovely people working there though. Against seemingly all odds, I talked to a woman who was actually headed to a town in Pennsylvania where I have relatives.
