When he turned the camera around and there were ten guys just standing there watching him I almost spit out my coffee. He said they all watch you there but I still thought they’d be more nonchalant about it. Some explanations from a Bangladeshi - --- In 12.03 mins, B&B offered a rickshaw puller to pick his rent, he took 200 BDT ($2) and said "vangti nai?" meaning - "don't you have any smaller note". Then B&B replied "ok? (is that enough?)", the rickshaw puller understand the word ok like any person of the world (without recognizing the "?") and he verbally replied "ok" (by shaking his head & hand). In 17.05 mins, B&B offer money (rent) to a boatman by showing a lot of Bangladeshi notes, the boatman pick the note which is in the top (100BDT= $1), then he discovered there are some smaller notes behind that and took 20+10+10 = 40 BDT = 40 cent, and return that 100 BDT = $1, meanwhile B&B got confused and said " you are taking all the money", then right after he understood the boatman is a honest person and praised him. At my best knowledge, the average income of such hardworking people is around 3 to 5 dollar a day (after working 8 plus hours).

You visited a small city called "Chandpur," situated at the confluence of the "Padma" and "Meghna" rivers. It boasts the largest wholesale Hilsa fish (National Fish) market in Bangladesh. In the early days, rivers were our primary means of transportation, so most of the biggest and oldest towns in Bangladesh are located alongside a river. People usually come to Chandpur to savor various dishes made with Hilsa fish because the flavor is unique. Unfortunately, you missed the best part of Chandpur, but it was wise not to eat at random places in Bangladesh. You can find many clean and safe restaurants/hotels in Dhaka where you should try Hilsa! We may not have a clean city, efficient transportation, and all the amenities, but the heartfelt hospitality and honesty you experience in this country are truly one of a kind! I've been following you since your India and Soviet tour vlogs, but it really gives me goosebumps to see you in my country having fun! *Most of the people were asking where you are from because our English skills are quite limited, and we can't ask much else, lol. and people reading this comment can ask my anything about this video/bangladesh, I'll try to reply

I and two others did an overnight river journey 20 years ago. We paid for 3rd class, which meant sleeping with motorbikes, chickens and other people out the back. Even us miserly backpackers decided to upgrade, and found ourselves promoted to shared bunk bed area with other families, but no chickens. Cabin area had a massive rotating fan, and was next to one of the ferry's toilets. The smell that the fan politely wafted in for us was most sobering to say the least. Quite an enjoyable journey, and yes we were well observed throughout.
@ismail.hossain.62 Жыл бұрын
The city you visited is called Chandpur, pronounced like "chad-pur". The park is a tourist attraction because it is situated right beside the confluence of three rivers: Padma, Meghna, and Dakatia. These rivers converge here and flow southward as a single river, eventually emptying into the Bay of Bengal. The other side of the river is called 'Puran Bazar' which translates to 'Old Market'. It was a famous business hub back when the river was the primary way of transportation. At peak monsoon, the triple confluence becomes a dangerous whirlpool. Small boats, even those equipped with engines, often cannot pass by the junction at that time of the year. And yes, the city is renowned for its Hilsa fish. Fish from the southern parts of the country arrive here before being distributed to other regions along with the local catch.

How do you differentiate between the local catch and fish 🐟 from the southern parts?
@ismail.hossain.62 Жыл бұрын
@@vut_zarco Well, fish from the southern parts are caught in the sea while the local ones are netted in the rivers. They are slightly different in size, shape, colour, and taste. Fresh-water (river) hilsa are a bit fatter and shorter than salt-water (sea) ones. The local ones are also a bit brighter and may have a light red spot along the middle. They also taste better compared to the salt-water hilsa.

Most of the cases I am putting comments when I want to criticize someone but this one is exception. You are one of the best bloggers in the tube, your content is top notch and I really like to see how tru the years you get more humble and reduce the sarcastic UK behaviour. Many people have no idea and will not stay even one hour in that places especially Bangladesh but your approach and behaviour with the locals is great.
