You need to go to Cuba Bald. See the remaining bits of the soviet system. It's a wonderful country, very easy to travel to. Got an excellent and very cheap system of bed and breakfasts.
@monarchofthesea93955 жыл бұрын
@L.K I've been to both. I think Bald would get much better content out of Cuba, since you can travel freely in Cuba. In the DPRK it's great but heavily guided. Lots of people have done videos on the DPRK, and Bald wouldn't be able to make the best out of it. If you do go to Cuba the most interesting place to go in my experience was Baracoa, which is the first place that Columbus landed on. Also on the far east of the island, absolute paradise. Followed by Moa which is the most industrial town in Cuba, definitely worth a look.
@monarchofthesea93955 жыл бұрын
@@CastorRabbit Cuba's dead cheap if you stay out of resorts. The ticket to get there is expensive from the UK, but all in all the price of things is very cheap. The trick is to stay in BnBs "Casas De Particulares" I think. They've got two currencies in Cuba, one for tourists and one for locals. If you go off the beaten path, then you can use local money, which just makes it a bargain.
@monarchofthesea93955 жыл бұрын
@@CastorRabbit That being said, North Korea is super expensive.
@monarchofthesea93955 жыл бұрын
@@CastorRabbit That sounds about right, it's probably not as cheap as Russia or India, but still not a bad price all things considering. Especially since the casas were always absolutely lovely. Where did you go?
@monarchofthesea93955 жыл бұрын
@Syrup & Pancakes I never actually went to Havana. Would love to do so. I went to the Southern part of the island. Would highly recommend any of it to be honest, as everywhere has its own personality. But for me the highlights were Bayamo and Baracoa. As well as the old soviet road to Moa the industrial wasteland with a purple river and a truck with three wheels.

Great video! It's not quite right that the camel is due to the Chelyabinsk being a part of the Silk Road. The Silk Road lay quite far to the south from it. The camel was introduced in 1782, and in the original description of heraldry it (roughly) said, that the camel is because people arrive with camels full of goods quite often. So it is due to the trading, but nothing to do directly with the Silk Road.

He was a terrific character, too, by the name of Igor Khlyzov, but I called him 'my Russian bear' (- when I said goodbye to him on his last day at the school he lifted me up in the air, and gave me such a hug that he nearly cracked my ribs!!). He was very proud of his city, and gave me a souvenir book (in Russian, of course!). I told him that, one day, maybe, I will meet him in Chelyabinsk! I haven't travelled to Russia yet, but I still hope to. Thanks for another wonderful slice of ordinary life in Russia.

You know, I just saw this for the first time, but a big fan of both of y'all. Glad Ben has come through the Rona safely and Roman in his youth has not been affected, hopefully he will sail through fine. Ben, can't you convince Roman to go to law school? Bright guy, well-spoken, if he got into Russian politics maybe he could move the country forward. Best to you both now in November, 2020.

@brianm28815 жыл бұрын
@@hassu122 Just reading a bit more into it, it's closed to foreigners, not Russian or Belorussian nationals. Well, foreigners *can* be allowed in, but they need to apply for a special visa, and they need to give a (really) good reason for wanting to go there. Maybe the Russian government would let Bald in on the basis that he's a famous vlogger. Seems unlikely, but worth a shot. If he did go there, he'd probably want to try and get there, like, now. Even by Russian standards, Norilsk is brutally, brutally cold most of the year.
@PAINNN6665 жыл бұрын
@@brianm2881 It's not that brutal but I don't live in your area and doesn't know your equal of that temperatures. I mean I live in more warm city and there was like -10+ temperatures but just 3 days where in Norilsk it would be 2-3 month and -30+. And it's just 1\4-1\6 of year.
