Farmfoods Doner Kebab food review.

I've finally eaten one of these Farmfoods doner kebabs and it was really tasty. The recommended cooking time of 2 minutes is not long enough, even with my 700 Watt microwave. I cooked mine for 2 minutes and then a further 1 minute and tested it with the instant thermometer. The girl in Farmfoods this morning pointed out that you can buy 3 packs for £5. I'd give this 9/10.

As soon as you hit a piece of gristle on the first bite... I feared that this Farmfoods Doner Kebab was going to be launched straight into the bin... But fair play to you mate for carrying on with it... The Chilli Sauce definitely added another dimension to this Kebab... It has to be said that for the price i wasn't expecting anything special... But it was much better looking than the last lot you tried in the oven... I might grab one to try for myself the next time i'm passing a Farmfoods store... Thanks for the review Gaz... Five months since my last comment on these doner kebabs and I've eaten them several times since then. Always handy to have for a snack. I heat one for 3½ minutes (700W), and lately I follow that with one minute in the air fryer at 200° on air crisp to firm up the pitta bread a tad.

Just found your channel and for a bit of light relief you're a tonic. I saw these on the last flyer we had and they look worth giving a go. I'd stick a bit of tomato in after zapping 'em , it showed some on the packet, but if you're like my lad they would have been removed before eating lol.

great video Gareth as always!!!! my local kabab house I can get a large doner for £6.50 and i would bet there's more meat in that than an the equivalent of these and its authentic, so i'd rather pay the extra. Might be worth a buy though for a quick kebab fix when its closed.

I picked these up from Asda last week and put them in the freezer where they still are as I was going to try them didn't hold much hope but they were so cheap I had to pick them up I'm so chuffed you think they are ok .. I normally wouldnt buy this sort of thing as doner kebabs aren't my thing - however I do love a Chawrama Wrap. So good review and you saved it by providing your own sauce. So for a £1 its great value but defitnely needs some enhancement to make it more appetising as you very nicely demonstrated in this video. Nice one. The Pitta kebab from Sidwell street in Exeter was a mouth watering experience back in the day, made with Lamb and spices. The Turkish kebab from outside the Bahnhof in Kassel made with Chicken and spices on a much thicker bread, was also a mouth watering experience. Coleslaw was always a favourite, with Chillies and Lettuce. When i made my own meat in a 1LB tin, I overcooked the meat, but Coleslaw saved the day. ;-(

Ideal after consuming several electric soups at the local hostelry, jumping on the beer scooter and arriving home with the hunger pangs. Insert sample in to the radiation container for two minutes and after ping inject some chilli and garlic sauce, job done! Great review Gareth, you get a lot for a pound, surprised it didn’t come with its own sauce though. I’m going to give it a try. Thank you for the review pal, take care.

Heat for 90 seconds, then put the kebab in a Toaster bag. Put in the toaster for about two minutes. Perfect !! 👍

The meat has some texture. I like these. Could do with some proper crunchy salad and some mushrooms and peppers. My 3 all time favourite microwave bites are the old pataks curry in a naan, hotpockets and those corn dogs you could get about 20 years ago

@@BaldFoodieGuy As you were unsure for how long to cook it for, it's about +/- 4.5 to 5 seconds per minute for every 50 watt difference or it seems to be from my experiences. Some microwave ovens might differ a little bit from that and the difference will be considerably greater if you are cooking two ready meals at the same time for instance.

Make your own chilli sauce mate, grate white cabbage with the zester part of your grater into a bowl then add the same sauce you used in the video, mix them together and stick in the fridge for an hour, got that tip from a guy who runs a kebab place, you can make as much as you want and it can be frozen if needed

Crucial Chilli & Garlic sauce is the nicest sauce I have found for kebabs, they do a whole range of sauces for a quid, if you haven't tried them I can I recommend them if they are on sale in your area. Asda, Morrisons, Farmfoods and I think Sainsbury's sell them, others may as well as they are really popular.

I had a similar experience in Benalmadena with my then girlfriend. Having a bit of a lock in at a bar, barman asks if we want anything to eat and suggests kebab. There’s me thinking they sell food, turns out he just has a freezer full of frozen doners and pizzas for when he gets peckish late on.

Looks better than the frozen doners my dad used to get me back in the day. They were like eating cardboard. The only thing that gave them some flavour was the sachet of chili sauce you got with them. Weird thing is my 12 year old self actually thought they were alright. Think your standards for what you consider edible are quite a bit lower at that age.

Years ago my wife and I went to Hemsby in Norfolk and had Fish and chips which is usually great round there. We went to a small kiosk and bought ours it was a bit expensive we though. On taking it back to the we opened it up and what we saw was breaded Fish and crinkle chips that looked as though it had come from the freezer section of a supermarket. It was the worst fish and chips I have ever had and that in a seaside town that is known for good fish and chips.

Gareth I know it is not as per instructions, but I wonder how it would be taking the contents out of the pita bread and heating it in the microwave and heating the pita bread under the grill, to keep it from going soggy. Buy a box of donner meat from the takeaway next time you buy from there and have a packet of pitta's. Make your own, you will put double the meat in each pitta. Once meat is cold.. wrap in clingfilm and put it the freezer.
