OH Gareth, you are a joy to watch and to listen to. My wife and I watched you this morning and we are off the Morrisons this afternoon to put our hands on this lamb curry. Thanks again for bringing a joy into every day eating …and none of your favourite brown sauce in sight! One day you must wear a Tommy Cooper Fez… your truly magic .

Great video Gaz, I’ll definitely be trying this. The reason a 400g pack is deemed a sharer is because it’s all curry. Most 400g Indian meals we buy are half curry/half rice. So by the time you add naan or rice to this one it’s enough for 2.
@Noidy312 Жыл бұрын
400g is almost the same as a can of curry (392g) so the difference is an extra teaspoon of sauce so it's hardly masses of food for a hungry man. I suspect that in most cases, meals like this are marketed as 'serves 2' because the mandatory traffic light system on the front of the pack makes it difficult to sell a meal that contains 104% of an 'Adults Reference Intake' of saturates. They know that many people will eat the lot themselves once they taste it. Looks yummy.
@fcu866 Жыл бұрын
No good for a man who trains and requires protein eating half of one of these.

I've not tried that particular Morrisons curry, but I've found their range of chilled curries (Takeaway range) in plastic containers to be decent and cook well in the microwave. No rice or side items, but I find them tastier than the ones supplied with rice. The Lamb Rogan Josh and Chicken Jalfrezi are my preferred ones. The latter is supplied with chunky onions and peppers. Their sachets of microwavable rice (e.g. basmati or pilau) are reasonably priced as an addition to the curry. The plastic containers are solid resealable ones and I successfully reuse them to freeze my own cooking - e.g. a cottage pie mix that can be defrosted and united with mashed potatoes in an oven dish. If cleaned sufficiently, they could also be decent stackable storage boxes - e.g, stationery items, craft items.

Another great review. I noticed you pushed tbe foil into the curry which surprised me. I would have just wrapped it around the top and crimped it over. I have read that foil should not touch the product as small amounts of aluminium can leech into the food at higher temperatures, especially with acidic dishes like curries. Some people also wrap cooked food in it and store it in the fridge. This does the same thing if left for days. Not good.

Had this Morrisons lamb curry for dinner today, with Tilda basmati rice & a garlic & herb naan. It was very good indeed, masses of tender lamb in it as well. Thought I would weigh the unopened bag of curry, to my surprise it weighed 540grams. Took it out of the plastic bag & it still weighed 530grams, even though the box states 400grams. Well pleased with that, only needed to use half the pack as 265grams & lots of lamb along with the basmati & naan was plenty. Looking forward to the other half tomorrow, not bad all this lovely lamb curry for 4 quid a pop giving 2 currys out of a pack, be interesting to see if the packs I bought was a boo boo with the packaging machine in the factory putting more curry in than intended.

Yet another great review Mr G 👍👍. You really had me smacking my lips with this one. Your dead right though, it's certainly not for two people. Cost wise? Two for £8, throw in a couple of Nash's and some rice and you have a tasty meal for two at under £10. You can use any side of cooking foil. Unless you buy a non stick brand where the non stick side is the dull side. However, if you are cooking baked potatoes, or other veg? It is recommended to have the shinny side touching the spud, it's all to do with radiated heat that helps the spud cook quicker all the way through.

So GREAT to see you in such ecstacy with a rare FULL MARKS serving. True that a 400gram serving is typical of former pound microwave meals, now at various stages of £1.25, so with quantity compromised quality does have to be tropospheric to be worth the cost, and you're selling it on exactly that note. I'm not a curry fan, although from the ingredients, it's not strong. If this were a braised beef, I'd be tempted. I think you've just cleared the shelves in Morrisons up and down the nation as your subscriber tribe race out to buy them. 😊

Looks delicious could scoff that right now. Yes 🤣 it does reflect when cooking foods wrapped or covered with aluminum foil, the shiny side should be down, facing the food, and the dull side up. This is because the shiny side is more reflective and so will reflect more of the radiant heat than the duller side. 👍
@frothe42 Жыл бұрын
Interesting, I never knew that!

I think it is better to buy something like that without rice. Lamb is expensive and rice is a cheap filler, so the half curry/half rice meals are not great value. Also, curry-only means you can choose to have naan, other bread, chips, a jacket potato or anything else with it - even rice! It looks really nice, worth a try the next time I am in Morrisons. (It is not two servings on its own, though.) Interesting about the foil, I never thought about it before. I use it with the shiny side away from the food, just because that is how it comes from the roll, but I wouldn’t have thought it would make much difference to the food either way. Thank you for another honest review, it really is useful when I am looking for something different for dinner.

Great video as always mate. Definitely shiny side down with foil. They don't make them only one shiny side for the the benefit of your oven! 🙂 As for this curry and the excellent chicken donor kebab review you did, I am delighted that the entire 400g of both packs are made up of the expensive bits. The meat and the sauce and spices. Rice, naan bread and other flat breads are cheap and easy to make for yourself. Too many retailers pad out their 400g servings with the cheap add on's. Fair play to Morrison's, I will be buying these. Thanks again for a great review and making us aware of these products 🙂

They don't deliberately make one side shiny. The dull side is the side in contact with the rollers during manufacturing. It makes zero difference which side you 'use'. It's purely cosmetic.
