I made a corn beef and tomato toastie for lunch today! In a large frying pan on a medium high heat with a little sunflower oil, I fried four thick slices of corned beef and 8 big thick slices of beef tomato for 6 minutes a side, only flipping them once. Then I spread a thin layer of HP sauce on one slice of bread and Colman’s English mustard on the other, I also added some salt and pepper to the cooked tomatoes before assembling the sandwich. Then I wiped the pan out quick with kitchen towel, and sprayed one side of the sandwich with sunflower oil and added it back to the pan. I fried it for a minute or so then sprayed the remaining side with sunflower oil flipped it and fried for a final minute or so. I added a little sprinkle of garlic salt and cut it into triangles to serve. It was perfectly edible, so I ate it!😂 All the best!

@ Why look for beef crumb - in non marketing speak it’s ’Chopped Burger!’
@SuperLittleTykeКүн бұрын
@andrewsmith5457 Otherwise one is not really preparing the same product and it would inevitably cost more by the time one has assembled all the ingredients. I can pop into Aldi, grab a Mega Toastie and be eating it 30 minutes later. If I made my own I would first need the two different cheeses, the beef crumb, and all the other ingredients, so quite a shopping trip, let alone the actual prep time and effort. I reckon £2.29 is a small price to pay to avoid all that hassle. People frequently remark, Gareth too, that you could "make your own", but in most cases it's not cost effective to do so, unless one is preparing meals for a group of people.
@andrewsmith5457Күн бұрын
@@SuperLittleTyke As Gareth said, you could make your own and that would be my choice. If you prefer the product on offer that is your choice. There is no right or wrong, it’s just choice.

I went to try the chill con Carney one as it was reduced by 75%. We had a Aldi open up near me about a week ago. So I use the self-service I didn’t realise you have to ask them to put through reduced items. when I got out I looked at my receipt so I paid for price for four items has been reduced by 30% and the chilli con Carney toastie by 75.% When I went to sort o to look at my receipt the mistake, they told me it was my fault and I should’ve asked for someone to do it there and then, which I thought was a bit mean mean. I said this does not happen Lidi. They then took my receipt and refunded the difference and notice the tostie was the day before so that was that. They then said did want the items I would to pay I with what I already gave you my money but we refunded it , I said that’s no good I spent my allowance for food. The refund will take up to 5 days. All this to get an tostie . Which I never got to try in the end!!! I was most definitely not spot on with Aldi, I’m much prefer Lidl. 💖🐩🐩💖👍👍🍁🎃👻🧙♀️💀🖤🍂🕊🌈 ?

Oops!!! I got sidelined to talk about sardines and kippers 😀😀. This product? It looked good and obvious you liked the taste. A burger and cheese toastie is a new one for me though. I love cheese on toast for a midday snack. If I feel up to it I make a proper Welsh Rarebit. Is it worth the price? Probably if you don't have any cheese in the fridge then it could be cost effective. But I still would go for the basic cheese and tomato toastie. But sometimes you have to try something new.
