No lie as soon as I saw the title of this video I thought "I hope he's talking about Solasta!"

Haha I'm glad I met your expectations than and it wasn't some random game unrelated to BG3 ;)

I loved the first game. Especially the idea that you can give your group different personalities like an egoistic and zynic cleric. And that some quite cool dialogs were made with different combinations. I am really looking forward to this. Thanks for bringing this up :)

Would you suggest playing Solasta before the sequel? It looks interesting. Thank you for sharing.

If you have the time to, I'd definitely jump in to get a feel for it. It has some roughness at times and I noticed movement was better fullscreen than windowed (Solasta 2 will be adding WASD controls as well!) But its a good fantasy adventure, and you get to craft your whole party. It's not required, though. The sequel will be about 15 years later an in an entirely different region, so they'll have some easter eggs but you won't be doing anything special tied to the first game. Also should have the demo out here soon to try solasta 2 and I cant wait.

@RedbeardflynnRollsAOne Thank you so much. Funny I was looking at it before your video- might be a sign to try. I trust your review and perspective. I love lore and easter eggs so I'll pick it up (xbox it's only 34.50 but 60 for all dlc included). You are amazing. Update: I got it but had enough points to only pay half. Christmas present for myself. 🦋💜🦋

Solasta was one of the games in the past decade

Not gonna lie, I never heard of the first one. The fact that it came out in 2021... I'm not too shocked about that since I wasn't really gaming much in those days. If I was playing anything it was sticking with the old games that I knew. Hearing about BG3 early access got me back into games like this because I loved the Baldur's Gate games back in the day. I will definitely want to try this one when it's available.

I'll be adding it to my games list, right after Rogue Trader and Spellforce III

Solasta was a limited 5E game, using the limited basic rules that anyone can use without WotC having any ability to interfere! The classes, subclasses, feats, magic items and spells created for Solasta were some great replacements for the 5E stuff that WotC still controls! It is such a fun game and the 2 expansion were very fun!

Having seen this clip from the Game Awards, I was tempted to go and try Solasta, it spoke to me more than any of the other 'DND inspired' games did. The videos of Solasta 2 are gorgeous. But having now tried Solasta, there are a lot of things that are issues for me. So I have wishlisted Solasta 2, and I will be watching and trying any demo or Early Access version.

i love Solasta it is a unique game , had a real blast with it, yes the animations and voice acting can be little wonky, but that does not matter when the combat is so good and it is made by a small team. This game lead me to BG 3 and cant wait for Solasta 2, i have a feeling its going to be as good as BG 3, 2025 is going to be a great year for RPG fans.

Ive heard about the first one quite a few times I need to get around to playing it it's been in my steam backlog for years
@RedbeardflynnRollsAOne8 сағат бұрын
It's worth diving in if you have the time. Time though is always an issue. The good news is that this sequel wont require you to have played the first as its 15 years later and in an entirely different location/region.

Demon's Souls to Elden Ring* would be the more correct analogy.

Solasta has been on my wishlist for a while now. I just can't seem to get around to playing everything I want to play. While I'm not specifically excited for Solasta 2, I'm really glad it's getting made. I'll get to that wishlist eventually.
@robertchmielecki25802 сағат бұрын
The main question, though, can you play it in co-op on split screen? Because that's how I played (and replayed) Divinity2 and BG3 with my wife and that's the default mode for us.
@RedbeardflynnRollsAOne2 сағат бұрын
I don't think so. They said no couch co op so I'm assuming that means no split screen
@escarche97532 сағат бұрын
I would say that most BG3 fans aren't there for the DnD 5 edition, but for the heavy story-driven narrative, characters and the choices & consequences. Basically everything that Solasta 1 severely UNDELIVERED. Solasta 2 would need to pick up a lot of slack before any 'Baldur's Gate 3 fans will love it' statements should even be considered.
@RedbeardflynnRollsAOne2 сағат бұрын
Depends. There's no single element that made bg3 what it is. It's a mix of so much. I've been having a blast in co op for example which is fairly devoid of storytelling and characters and largely comes down to the combat depth. But my first playthrough also brought me to tears. Which is why I tried to highlight thst for solasta 2 that appears to be where they're spending a lot of budget to give actors more time to get into their characters.
