I know right, I'm so happy that he can have a happy ending without ever ascending. The initial ending where he just ran off pisses me off so much because it felt it all led to nothing but he can actually grow as a person even if you give him a good ending, it wasn't all for nothing after all 🥲 🥹

I do love that astarion just burned cazadors palace down and watched while it collapsed. 😂 Though Im still a fan of him just grabbing the place including all the riches cazador ever had and settling down with his consort. Now THATS some disrespect 😂

I like to think he and Brynn, the custom origin character I romanced him with are off living their best life, setting off on a quest to find a way for him to walk in the sun again, but also, because of how much travelling their search has involved, they also do adventuring hero things along the way. She's a cleric of Ilmater selflessness and kindness is ingrained in her, and it rubbed off on him as well, and he gets to feed on the bad guys and kill them violently.

@@ikmkr I know, it makes using the divine intervention ability during the Cazador fight, to kill a bunch of his minions all at once so satisfying! Its only available to use once in an entire playthrough and I find it so fitting to use it then. I know they haven't listened before, but they're listening now, babe!

He suffered so much so i fullfilled his wish and let him ascend even though i did a good guy run with my Paladin. Sadly after that he became quite cold,selfish and kind of evil.

Ascending wipes away all the personal growth he went through from act 1. He is a wonderful spawn

when he Ascends the parts of him that were the most "human" (or elf?), like empathy, compassion, love etc become points of weakness he is ashamed of so he masks them to such an extent they might as well be destroyed. In time he'd eventually become a monster like his old master.

Anyone know how to get the friendship epilogue where he leads the spawn in the underdark? I have freed the spawn but still got the one where he became an adventurer, I did get the letter from Sebastion about how the spawn are doing though but Astarion didn't say anything about them

Don’t know the answer to this either but I think after killing Cazador you can plant the idea of him leading in the Under dark & kinda nudge him in the direction of taking the responsibility, But i’m not sure what the exact trigger(s) could be; maybe it’s random?

I assumed that it's based on whether the spawn were freed. But people have told me that they freed the spawn and they still got the adventurer ending so idk?? it might be bugged or it might depend on smth else that I haven't figured out

hope i dont get too much hate for this, Still learning the lore dnd wise and i know its completely different; but i was wondering out of curiousity. does anyone know if elven society belief in marriage (in dnd) is similiar to lord of the rings lore? In lord of the rings They mention something along the lines that elven society views marriage as a super sacred thing, only choosing one partner and then nothing after that if thier spouse passes. The elves who have gone against that and have had multiple partners let alone slept outside of marriage are frowned down upon. If its similar, it make astarion's trauma that much more tragic caz then he'd be going against his heritage beliefs yes?

Im also not well versed in the dnd lore but ive read somewhere that it depends on the type of the elf. I believe moon and high elves (such as Astarion) are monogamous and believe in soulmates so it might be similar to lotr lore, while the wood elves usually have multiple partners.

I cannot bring myself to not ascend him. He is so damn happy about his freedom and power. He can walk in the sun, enjoy normal meals, feel lust, love and everything in between. He feels alive. And taking that from him is something I couldnt do. I am aware that deep down inside he feels like a piece of shit for sacrificing his brethren. And he also doesnt feel worthy of a relationship. He is also terrified of the lonelyness that comes with such power, which is why he wont let you go when you try to break up in the epilogue. He is pissed, but will continue to provide the best life possible for you, in hopes to win you over again and to make himself feel better. He would however NEVER mistreat you like cazador would. Because he isnt cazador. However, if you play a strong, ambitious character yourself, ascended astarion is completely fine. He will ask for your wishes, make plans accordingly and accept you as a ruler of equal power. Oh and in case anyone wants to start a "spawn" discussion: He made you a Vampire bride/groom. Thats a full blown vampire lord with free will and access to all powers, given time. Astarion has a head start because of mephistopheles blessings, but your powers will kick in soon enough. Also, you are partially ascended, too: You can see your reflection in the mirror, dont have that ache for blood in your stomach (though you can still drink blood), can walk in the sun, feel lust (as evidenced by the sex scenes with the emperor, wylls devil and the orgy in the brothel) and eat normal food. Your skin also keeps its original tone, meaning your heart is pumping and your blood is kinda normal. Draconic bloodline sorcerers keep all of their powers when astarion turns them, even though he was supposed to drain you dry. Its amazing 😅

The happiness of Ascended Astarion is as superficial as Cazador happily torturing his spawn. Like, I get people being like 'aw, he deserves more power after what he's been through' or fulfilling some dark fantasies, or RPing bleak endings or somesuch - but the power of Ascended Vampire is pretty solidly established in-story and by the devs as one that destroys him and destroys any chance of growth. What's worse, he *will* get worse as time passes and will probably become something worse than Cazador, yet lose his identity as Astarion completely. So, in the end, we condemn Ascended Astarion to the same - or worse - ending as Cazador.

@@Mpoa11 Raphael: "The lusts of man will return to him" about cazadors ascension ritual in act 2 when you kill yurgir. Implying that vampires do not feel true lust anymore.

He says in the epilogue that he's surrounded by people, having banquets with nobles and hedonistic affairs in his new palace, but he slips in a line saying he still feels lonely. All of it is superficial.

@@uwu-uv4mg of course he is. Having no actual friends makes you lonely af. Thats why he wont let you go if youre still partnered in the epilogue.
