Baldur's Gate 3: What happens if we kill Grove Bear Guard before talking?

well... i guess this guy is much more important to the quest then he looks. we have absolutely no dialogue with him, but without him, 2 whole cutscenes can't trigger. and yes, even with the speak with animal power active, we still only hear bear sounds, so absolutely no dialogue.
