My one issue with Wyll’s ending is that he doesn’t kill or mind control Mizora as payback for all she’s taken from him
@NaN-GramАй бұрын
The issue is if he does that, he becomes a Lemure. Also she just respawns in the hells since she’s a Cambion, so it’s all bad.
@xxdiamond_godxx5012Ай бұрын
That's my issue too. Even with his best ending(Blade of Avernus), he doesn't get revenge on Mizora. I hate how Larian won't let us off that demonic pain in the neck. And the only time we do get a chance to do it, it ends up being the wrong choice. Someone at Larian really has a thing for Mizora....
@xxdiamond_godxx5012Ай бұрын
@@NaN-GramThere's gotta be a way around that. I know this sounds harsh but that just seems like a convenient excuse to give Mizora plot armor she doesn't need or deserve.
@NaN-GramАй бұрын
@@xxdiamond_godxx5012 Larian forgot to write themselves out of the hole the put Wyll into, unfortunately. The Blade of Frontiers deserved better.
@xxdiamond_godxx5012Ай бұрын
@@NaN-Gram Yeah Wyll was definitely done wrong and neglected by writing in a lot of ways. Honestly, I think if they had stuck to their guns and kept him the way he was during EA then there wouldn't be any issues. But guess what? "He's too mean!" Fans didn't like the idea of him being morally grey and thought he was too mean. Kinda odd since Astarion is absolutely loved for being an evil and insufferable jackass(I hate Astarion, if you couldn't tell). Its really a shame since Wyll really isn't a bad character and certainly not as bad as fans try and make him out to be. He just got done dirty by the writers and fans. This was one instance where Larian should have just put their foot down and they didn't.

Fuck, this might be my favorite one of these new evil endings. I love this archetype of the selfless hero who just gets tired of feeling like his good deeds don't amount to nothing and decides that results matter more than methods.
@PoetryInMotionXxXxАй бұрын
Exactly, and it might as well have been the key to Wyll regaining his freedom from the devilish pact in the end, IMO. Throughout the game, it felt like Mizora's ultimate aim was to convince Wyll to put himself above his father and innocents, the opposite of which was what got him to become an indentured servant to fiends in the first place. Devils enjoy corrupting mortal souls every bit as much as collecting them.
@Peachrocks5Ай бұрын
Maybe it does but Wyll’s evil ending should depend on whether or not he broke the pact. If he’s loyal to Mizora he should basically conclude that she was right all along. Helping people is basically pointless, unending and most people just take you for granted. Mizora would release him from his current pact in favour of a new one, that his powers as well as the crown of Karsus would be used to allow the pair of them to rule Avernus and beyond in place of Zariel. Basically what Raphael was planning to do. Alternatively going against Mizora results in him capturing her (we know the Absolute is capable of this) and using her to his own ends against her will. He would rule similar to this ending, concluding that without a forceful hand people would constantly need saving, without firm control and an iron fist people would always get away with evil. Kind of like the old thing of good intentions going bad.
@KeitieKalopsiaАй бұрын
There were a lot of companions I expected to have two different Absolute endings for: Shadowheart, Wyll, Astarion, and Lae’zel. Makes sense resource-wise that you can only add so many new cutscenes.
@mauser98karАй бұрын
Evil Wyll is an absolute nightmare. Despite his sudden spurt of megalomania, of all other origin characters, he is by far the most rational. No self-aggrandasing, vengeful brutality or other forms of pettiness. Order above all else for the sake of it. Wyll brings the hammer on your face with efficiency unseen among his peers. Why slaughter when you can ceratomorph them? Why waste when you can gather? He'll have greater army in no time - and then, good luck and good night, Faerun and beyond.

@JadedReality21Ай бұрын
Wyll's ending is the only ending in which the root of his turmoil isn't mentioned in any capacity....why? Mizora has no words of dialogue. She shows up if you are still contracted to her, but she disappears in literally under 10 seconds, as if she was never in the scene. That's gotta be a bug, right? And if you are not bound to her anymore, she doesn't show up at all, when there is arguably MORE reason to go after her since he would suffer no repercussions for it. One of Wyll's goals as "Blade of Avernus" was to hunt her down....why doesn't this ending give you the option to take that angle??? Everyone else flat out rebels against their abusers, violently lashes out, or seeks to be better than they ever were, but Wyll still has no choice in the matter. Doesn't even consider it. Wyll just succumbs everyone to ceremorphosis and has a mindflayer army because *reasons* , I guess? No word of sending them unto Zariel's army or anything. Just a vaguely defined goal, if you can even call it that. "The Blade." "The Blade".....what? What is his purpose here? Everyone else dominates the world as well, but there is *purpose* to it in accordance with the source of their turmoil, as I have said before. Maybe I'm just daft, but I don't see how this ending can be considered an evil resolution to Wyll's character arc when the source of his struggle isn't even acknowledged.
@MinecraftRickАй бұрын
It's an evil resolution to his arc in the same sense as Shadowheart becoming the Mother Superior, Astarion "ascending", Lae'zel staying loyal, Gale achieving divinity, Karlach dying. He surrenders to his struggle and becomes it instead of fighting it. He becomes that which he sought to destroy. He was abused by a devil, and instead of hunting the devil, he becomes the devil.
@JadedReality21Ай бұрын
@@MinecraftRick Yes, but that pain is acknowledged in all of those instances. What is highlighted here, in *this* ending, is Wyll being in his father's shadow, and uses the absolute's power to forgo that insecurity by being the undisputed ruler. There is zero mention of the devil nor the devil's influence and there really is no reason for it to be like this when every other evil origin ending mentions their abusers directly. And devils are known to be opportunists, so while I understand it's meant to be symbolic and not literal, I don't buy the "become the devil" angle either, because we spend 3 entire acts trying to break Wyll free from Mizora. He is the absolute now. If the entire angle is to become the thing he hated, I still don't see why Mizora *wouldn't* be one of his first victims, you get what I'm saying? It's just not a devil's nature to ignore a golden opportunity like that, especially since he doesn't hesitate to make his father a victim. Which is why I don't think that was the angle they were taking. They took the insecure prince angle and left the Hells completely out of it, which is a baffling mistake. Even though Mizora is here, she nowhere to be seen a minute later, almost as if it's a bug or she was added last minute. This is easily remedied if they just had the narrator say something along the lines of "What matters now is that they do kneel - let the 'why' be for lesser men.....and lesser devils..." while showing Mizora reluctantly beside Ulder Ravengard (if you broke the pact and should you choose to hunt her down). On the flipside, have Mizora open a portal for the Hells army (similar to Karlach) while Wyll turns his people into Mindflayers should you side with her still. TL;DR, Mizora is like half of Wyll's story, the other half being his father. It's just deflating to know that one half of Wyll's story doesn't see a proper resolution. So as a result this ending feels half-baked.
@aceofsharks9837Ай бұрын
You're absolutely right. Everyone, even the devs apparently, undersell the fact that Mizora is Wyll's abuser. His evil ending should've involved using the army of The Absolute to invade the hells to ice Mizora and keep anymore hellspawn from harming the material plane.
@MinecraftRickАй бұрын
@@aceofsharks9837 Doesn't sound very evil.
@JadedReality21Ай бұрын
@@aceofsharks9837 That's not quite where I was taking my point at all. At least not as you describe it towards the end there. The Material Plane is not safe. Should the Hells intrude in that space, Wyll wouldn't *defend* it, per se. He would sacrifice as much of that plane as necessary to see the devils dead (should the player choose the Hells as their enemy), which would make the final line, "For the city, for the Coast, there will be something approaching peace. But first. The Blade." more focused, instead of pointing his army toward some arbitrary enemy like it's done here. In the same way Zariel would drag as much of the Hells into her Blood War as utterly possible, Wyll would spare no expense for his own crusade. Whether that would be with Mizora or against Mizora would be up to the player. That's ultimately how I envisioned the evil ending would play out. What we got was annoyingly vague. Almost dismissive in a way.
@dianabialaskahansen2972Ай бұрын
Wish there had been a more devilish ending. Wyll drawing on the power of Hell, transforming into a full devil, transforming the citizens of Baldurs Gate, creating some devilflayers, calling in Mizora and have her bow to him and then he is on his way to the Nine Hells with his new powerful army to depose one of the Archdevils. And have his romanced companion rule at his side as his spouse, or if he had no romance, let him have the option of making Mizora his wife.

It would be even more interesting if Mizora released him from his pact after this ending. The way I perceived it, her original intention behind her offer to Wyll was to "help" him move away from this "selfless folk hero" posturing and, instead, embrace his true potential as a ruthless ruler (potential, in the sense devils view it, at least).

Will say I genuinely don’t get his personal ending. Like… the dialogue sounds like it’s a more “big brother” version of the normal Conquest choice… but then he goes and turns everyone into mindflayers. At first I thought it was going the route of him giving a non-forceful “Kneel” and those who disobeyed would be turned, but then it’s everyone being turned. Is “But first… The Blade” supposed to mean he judged the whole of Baldur’s Gate as unworthy or guilty in some way? If that’s the case they really should have thrown in a line mentioning something like because they bent to Gortash and other unworthy leaders, they are all condemned in his eye, Idk, this feels very weak compared to what everyone else got. Also WHY is Mizora allowed to stand there freely? I get you can romance her even as Wyll so the cinematic can’t do a 180 and have him vaporize her, but surely you can show some psionic domination effect. If you’re gonna have Wyll, who as a Companion is the most Lawful Good boi there is, go full evil let him take SOME kind of vengeance/control over Mizora.

I personally find this ending kinda... meh? Nothing about it screams Wyll. I can't imagine this is something an evil Wyll would do. It's not clear what his motivations here even are. To rule the sword coast without being the shadow of his father? I guess he accomplished that? He sorta just... tortured some dudes while sitting in a throne. Mizora is somehow free of his everything. What I got from Wyll's story is he wasn't to be free, he wants to be his own person, he wants to be in control of his life and dictate how he is thought of by others. I feel like if he turned evil, he would be more focused on the one holding his leash rather than his father. He no longer needs her power to be powerful. He should turn her into his bitch instead and then fuck up the Sword Coast and his father for rejecting him when he sacraficed everything for everyone. Idk, but Wyll's evil ending just... don't feel like Wyll.
