I’m not a local but you said you would pin the comment if it solves your mystery why the trees grow in the hole. I did research just wanting to be pinned. That is because it has bigger hole than other small pots, soil flows into the bigger hole when it rains and there lots of soils there so trees can grow much bigger than other small pots area on that volcano. Hope this moment to be pinned 😁 and anyway, I’m Liam. I make KZbin videos too about how to grow on KZbin. Thanks Paddy, m an absolute fan of your channel ❤️

I stayed in a guest house just down from the lava fields. The lava fields are called Bukit Hitam (black hills). It was very nice to walk around by myself when I was there. Luckily I can speak Bahasa Indonesia, so I got to see the local temples in the area by befriending some locals. Most locals speak little to no English. I was taken to a small temple that had a tiny waterfall. You asked about the tree. You only wrap the banyan tree, which is sacred in Bali. Also, you will notice that statues of gods are wrapped at the waist with a sarong too.

I'm Balinese, i live at Gianyar, outskirt of busy bali area, since you asked why so many mini sacred place at nature are there, i will try to explain : Balinese Hinduism is a mix of local cultural beliefs and Hinduism. we believe in Tri Hita Karana (3 factors for a better life): good relationship with God (worship), good relationship with other human beings, and good relationship with nature. on the third point of good relations with nature realworld (you can see it from your experience here : nice paddi fields, green blush etc) we called "sekala", we also recognize the existence of an abstract world "niskala". Balinese people tend to make a relationship with the abstract world "niskala" in good ways. we make some offerings too and try to make good relationship (niskala / abstract world). like we pray and say (in simple words): "hello there's in the abstract world, we are innocent human, we can't see you, we can't hear you. but we human and you there are both God's creation. please don't disturb us, as we don't disturb you there. peace". Bali had many cultural periods, one of them was when Bali (Batur area) was ruled by King Jaya Pangus, he had a meditate place around Mount Batur, so the mysterious place you've found maybe that historically used by the king to meditate long time ago, or maybe some sacred place "not a temple" (lots of them in Bali) the place where the abstract world "niskala" is more tangiable/feelable . ( i need to confirm this to my fellow balinese live there) so, balinese make some offerings there to niskala. so that's why you will not find God (Deva/Dewi) statue there, because there's not a temple, What should we do when we accidentally come to a place like that? -just do as usual, nothing to worry about. just don't do bad manners (swearing, pissing etc).

One possible explanation to your lava question is that very well the area may have been an island raised up over the surrounding lava. On subsequent eruptions, a lava tube formed that transports the magma (lava) downslope. Over time, the magma ceases, the lava tube empties, and eventually subsides or collapses thus created that indentation. Just a thought. I live on the side of Kilauea in Hawaii and lava tubes are common hear. Every once in a while residents disappear due to an unknown lava tube.

I love your channel and how beautiful your videos are. Lava fields are one of my favorite adventures and you exploring in this episode is totally an experience that I would seek out. My first and only time in SE Asia (so far) was Bali and Komodo Island. We did the sunrise hike up Mt. Batur and not only saw an amazing sunrise but Mt. Agung was "letting off a little steam and ash" in the distance. Thank you for what you do. You are my go to channel for inspiration. I love your appreciation and enjoyment for nature, the views, and the people!

Walking around the volcanic debris is so cool... that little mystery pocket with the tree - so interesting! I hope someone knows the story behind it, or at least the mythology that might have been created because of it. 😁 I could make up a story about a determined little tree that pushed through the hardened lava and grew so tall and strong, regardless of the hinderances and obstacles it had on the ground. 😆 Whatever it may be, it is just another amazing part of this beautiful world we live in!

Unfortunately, on June 13th, 2023, Bali’s governor announced an immediate ban on tourist activities on its mountains. Climbing is no longer allowed for visiting travelers due to repeated bad behavior. Now tourists will only be able to view them from afar. Bali is also taking steps to ban all tourists from driving scooters, motorcycles, or cars on the island. Instead, they would have to hire drivers just to sit in traffic on the already overcrowded roads.
@johnshores4745 Жыл бұрын
maybe a ban on tourists driving scooters would mean less traffic on the streets ?
@ronbeaubien Жыл бұрын
@@johnshores4745 Maybe, but probably only if fewer tourists come to Bali. Cars and SUVs take up much more space on Bali's narrow roads than all the scooters and motorcycles currently do. At least with scooters and motorcycles, you can go down side paths which is impossible in larger vehicles.
@mzan2691 Жыл бұрын
Sounds like I'm going to give Bali a chance, if the ban will actually come into effect. Otherwise Bali will remain on my not-to-do-list.
