Hanna Stone's song Pandemonium is a classic. The instrumental version is also excellent. Her music fits your mood and the beauty of Bali, which I've been to many times, many moons ago. May she rest in peace 🙏
@oljaaernoob Жыл бұрын
The only problem is that she's not dead, the singers name in that song is Hanna Stone, a totally different person. Hannah Stone is the person who died. Paddy probably mixed them up.

It's a beautiful song, and thankfully she is still alive, Paddy's mixed her up with the KZbinr Hannah Stone who passed away.

Paddy, I want to thank you for two things, very sincerely. I've been a long-time subscriber and commenter (Randy H), and you inspired me to start a KZbin channel (focusing on Chiang Mai), which I finally did last month. And you helped me again when I asked you a few months ago who a singer was that you used a tiny slice of (Hanna Stone), and you were so kind to reply and give me her name. So my GF and I made a romantic video of us using Chiang Mai as a backdrop showcasing the best of the town, and playing all of the song, Pandemonium. So big thanks to you, Paddy. I will be forever grateful. Maybe one day I'll get to thank you in person. Best wishes.

The guides and even drivers are proper Instagram coaches these days. I was in Lombok last year, and had this happenend to me. I didnt have the heart to tell my guide i didn't need all those photo's of myself, so I let him direct me 😂. He was so passionate about it.

Somehow I appreciate your reflections on what most are doing... "What are we doing? We go somewhere, we see a nice photo on Instagram, we see a nice video on KZbin, and we wanna go and recreate it for ourselves. Take the same picture, same poses, same... what are we trying to achieve?" You're daringly speaking against the viewers in a sense - but it's honest! I like honest introspection. Great videos in any case!

Hiya Paddy. Another great installment. Trying to hold myself back and not watch all the videos you have given us. But I will. I love your honesty. Great that you got a tour guide. Spectacular drone footage. Perfect music. This is what I love to see you doing, motorbike, open road. Nothing but your thoughts. Or music/book you are listening to. The views are insane. Wow. The place you are staying. Gorgeous. Definitely beautiful and scary at the same time. So cheap it is crazy. Your plan sounded better than the early morning start. And you definitely do not need a guide to do a climb. Frustrating for you. Firestarter. 😆 Monkeys and your comment. Hilarious. You do make me smile. They have come to share the sunset with you. Hehe. Perfect ending. Lovely mark of respect, Paddy. Any time I hear this song, it makes me think of you. Gorgeous ending. Onto the next one. Thank you so much for all your hard work.

The sunset on Batur is so unreal, magnificent : the best experience ever for me even if i'm not sportive at all. I had the chance to live the sunset alone with the guide (like you), slept on Batur and see the sunrise. For the sunrise, they are too many people, so it wasn't magical like the sunset, but the energy with people singing, playing music and eat together at the morning was very beautiful! And many many many many thanks for the wonderful discover of the song " Pandemonium tribute" : i'm so grateful to you about that: it's a real treasure for the soul and the heart. (my new favorite song!)

@neilsmithcreditmanager Жыл бұрын
Paddy you probably cover this in later videos but Batur is not the highest point in Bali. That belongs to Agung. I have climbed both and Agung is more difficult as it’s much taller. Back at Batur, the mountain inside the caldera (crater) is a parasitic cone; a new volcano being built inside a larger volcano. This is the pattern for the large volcanoes blowing their tops off and then rebuilding. The most recent example was Tambora on the island of Sumbawa in 1815. Batur is beautiful! Glad you had a chance to visit another amazing Indonesian volcano

Another excellent video Paddy, the volcano hike was definitely the highlight of the video. What a view!!!! I'm a "hobby) photographer and I travel by myself for the last 23 years (I feel old now). Sometimes a guide can really ad value to a trip/excursion and I could see the value of the guide going up the volcano. I stop regularly to take photo's and wait sometimes 30 minutes to get the perfect shot, before I continue to walk. But I always tell a guide before hand, so they know what to expect from me. I did four treks in Nepal with a guide (not in a group) and they always adapt to my speed, the can really help you to get most out of your trek. You should see a guide as a tool and not a tourist trap, just think beforehand "can they add value to my experience"?? I Always skip the guides at temples (and similar places), but on a trek to 'semi' remote locations, I find them very useful!! Hope you reconsider Nepal again, there are plenty of treks with only a few tourists!!

Always great to experience your travels my friend! I am very much of the same mind as you when it comes to the well trodden paths. The convenience they usually bring makes it easy and grants access to all kinds of creature comforts but it also isolates us from the dizziness of being on the edge and that is where the heart stopping and most impactful moments come to life. You were a much patient person than me at that waterfall. I would likely have turned on my heels on the way down those stairs as I saw people squeezing by to pass each other on the way up and down. Like you, I ask myself, what is the point of being a face in that crowd. Anyway, thanks as always Paddy for your great vlogs and getting to enjoy not only the locations but your honest and fun reactions to them. Be well and take care.

I've noticed that as amazing as Bali is, many of the places of interest/natural attractions require "local guides" for tourists, even for something as simple as a marked 1 mile hike to a waterfall. The guides will just ask you if you are okay, ask if you want a picture, and ask if they can carry something to justify their usefulness, and even though they seem lovely, they definitely are not needed and it's a way to get more money from tourists.

Wow, Paddy, not sure how I missed this video, normally watch each and every one, but what a treasure this video is. Truly awesome, from the touristy waterfall that was still amazing to see, to the beautiful temple, and the incredible room you got near the lava flow with it's wonderous volcano views, then on to the 'guided tour' climbing up and around the volcano itself, boy oh boy, Paddy, your talents shined through ever so brightly...Again! Paired with that song "Pandemonium" (RIP to that angel singing) and with your 'next level adventure' skills, the ending was certainly Next Level, so Thank You very much, Paddy, for bringing me back to a smile from start to finish with this fantastic, spectacular video. I'm sure there is a huge influx of tourists everywhere now. People have a lot of money to spend after not being able to really travel the past few years. For those that still did travel during the pandemic, it was a blessing in disguise. It allowed you to see the touristy places without the tourists! To see these places as if you were the one discovering them for the first time. That's what Thailand felt like for me when I first came here 1 year ago. Now that I'm back to Thailand again, it has lost some of it's luster due to the swarms of tourists everywhere I go now. Back to reality I guess.

I like the inner dialogue in the stream mate. I think you sum it up well with it's confusing times. Because of course everyone wants the photo but there is also potentially a lot of vanity with it. I guess it depends on the intention of it... Like a couples photo to go in a frame at home makes sense and as you said there is nothing wrong with wanting a cool photo of ourselves right? But there is a lot lost too. Phones, devices, cameras all of it takes away from the real experience in front of us and likewise changes people's behaviours in those places. But we can't quite kick the habits ourselves either. No easy answer but an awareness and also moderation of being a part of it... Good intentions and less vanity... And acceptance of others and others behaviours while also seeking out those more true experiences ❤

Paddy, yes each family has their own family temple in what we would call a family compound and the village (desa) has a public temple. I lived in Seminyak but loved my trips to North Bali. You went to one of the biggest IG water falls in Bali LoL. Yes you were scammed. You don't need a guide i stayed by the black lava field (called bukit hitam or black hills) and i went up the back side of Batur with my Balinesian friend. Last, I like the quote from Firestarter by Prodigy.

You need to go to the Philippines and go to Samal Island , which is a 25 minute boat ride from Davao. And stay at the Pearl Farm resort. You will not regret it. I just went there and stayed and it’s basically paradise and not overcrowded because it’s a private resort and the bungalows are very Bali type style , but with AC 😊
