I bought it with the intention to use for work and productivity as I was starting to travel around. Then in August I went to Miami and went to an Apple Store and tested the avp and I just loved it. I enjoyed listening to your views. I’m enjoying using the AVP for work and pleasure and I’m definitely one of those who suits this product. I don’t think it’s a failure as for that to be true, Apple would have a large product inventory that it couldn’t sell. While they are not disappearing off shelves, they are selling enough to sell most of what they are making. Also, if it were a failure they wouldn’t be making an M5 version that will be a spec bump of this design. This will appear late next year probably. This is IMHO the first of a range of products and even product categories under the Vision line. A lighter MR headset with offloaded power perhaps and AR glasses in the more distant future. Irrespective, while they may replace phones for some, I doubt that most will use them as any more than a phone, Watch and computer accessory. Vision Pro I believe will transform into a professional MR platform used extensively in medical, design architecture and scientific visualisation disciplines while still providing people like you and I with a super high quality MR experience. Like the Mac Studio. Interesting times.

Then add a super high quality productivity monitor like you're talking about. I really love your take. However, as far as it being a failure, I would strongly disagree. For anybody complaining that it is expensive, it is not for them. What Apple did was sell their developer kit to all of the most dedicated Apple enthusiast. Version one was never meant for mass adoption. Where it is extremely successful is that Apple got one into the hands of all the app, developers, and instead of just making it for the developers, opened it up to a small user pool of enthusiast to test and give feedback on the apps as well as the operating system. If you look at Apple vision as a developer kit, it is a resounding success. Also, I have one, I do not travel, and I absolutely love it. But recognize it really is not for everyone.

Great video! I genuinely appreciate this video. Most “Tech review” channels are run by apparent idiots whose only adult job seems to only have been KZbin! The constant complaining about gaming and pricing while simultaneously calling the device a failure at its release is utterly clueless to Apple’s intentions for this product. Apple itself referred to the AVP as the FUTURE of Spatial Computing. It’s been evident from the outset that Apple is committed to this endeavor for at least the next 2-3 years, if you understand how they operate. They are likely 2-3 years ahead of the current device, and they are using early adopters like yourself and developers to gauge whether they are on the right track. One of the things I’ve noticed Apple investing in is the development or acquisition of creator tools that make it easier to create immersive content, such as cameras and photography software.

I work with massive spreadsheets, code, etc, and the resolution is important for me. I picked up a used AVP for this purpose after trying it a few times at the Apple Store. Pixels are not noticeable at all. Reading text on it is really good quality. I have a MBP Max and the AVP quality isn’t to that level, but text is crisp and clear. I have a few system mappings that are large and the AVP is great as an extended monitor for expanded screen space that is really clear. The AVP has a 4k display for each eye. As stated go to the Apple Store for a demo. it may take two, one for the regular demo, but they will also give custom demos if you tell them ahead.

The Quest 3 is closing the gap in terms of productivity environment while being 1/6 to 1/7 of the price and offering more comfort with the right straps. The AVP is the best out there, but it’s harder to justify this price for a product targeted at a niche market. Ideally, it would thrive in a market where everyone already has VR headset experience. The reality is that most people lack experience with VR. You’re trying to introduce a new medium while charging over $3,000, which is not a strong strategy. Poor analogy, but market-wise, it would be like trying to sell fancy smartphones in an era when most people don’t even own regular brick phones because they see even those as expensive.

I agree with all of that, I would just point out that for a power-apple-user, the quest is not an option no matter how good or cheap it is. That would be like buying an android instead of an iPhone because it's cheaper and the specs are better - not happening

Not really. It’s not a closed ecosystem. You can connect your MacBook Pro to the Quest via companion apps for the Quest 3 (e.g., Remote Desktop, Immersed, Virtual Desktop, etc.). Since your MacBook Pro serves as the connection point to your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, it functions similarly. Granted, you won’t have native app integration with the Apple ecosystem in your headset, nor the wonderful UX of macOS. However, this is a con that most users can easily work around. The Quest also has additional pros, such as access to a wider range of apps and functioning as a standalone videogame console.

This is kind of the main point in the video. There are dozens of negative things you can say about the AVP. “But it’s not this”. “But it can’t do that”. Etc… on and on. But if you’re the target user it’s still totally worth it and it’s hard to describe why to someone that’s stuck on the price or the specs. It’s so clear and immersive, I would take the AVP over a 4k monitor any day, no contest

@balsieber I get it, for traveling it's good. But if you at home it's better to use regular monitor, it's much clearer. With current resolution you forced to work with large virtual monitor and move your head a lot, so all that amount of space not that useful.

@@balsieber I haven't tried it, but I have 2 other vr headsets and dive into AVP optical stack a lot. Problem is not only in resolution, the lenses themselves can resolve only around 40 PPD. We need a breakthrow in optics to achieve at least 60 PPD with same lens sizes. For reference regular monitor from the usual viewing distance is 90 PPD.

I use it for everything. My surreal touch controllers are coming and I can't wait to replace my Valve Index with the AVP for VR gaming. Whenever I travel, I use geforce now to play my games. There is no better 3D movie experience on the market for home consumers than the AVP as well. Now with the super ultrawide display, using my mac on this thing has been an absolute priviledge. I truly can't wait when apple fully integrates apple intelligence to this and with third party LLMs and their app agent control, this will revolutionize how we compute.

Mr Siebel, Stop justifying your 4k mistake, CRITICS are right! Vision pro is top failed tech in 2024. Nothing beats a laptop for a work from home purposes and this vision pro is not and never will be a game changer. My issue: for that price, it should include a Mac inside it. It should be a Bring Your Own Keyboard device with the power of a Mac. Maybe the internals to do that would make it too heavy? Put some in the battery pack.

It literally IS a Macbook pro on your face dude: Its has M2 processor, as well as the V1 custom CPU for all VR stuff. And when you connect to your Mac computers, its turns your headset into a PCVR, so now your using the power of your MAC PC, so you don't even need the M2 on board the Vision. The thing is literally the most powerful MR headset ever made.

@ruzaroos 11 күн бұрын
@WigganNuG The OP is saying it should just run Mac OS software without needing the Mac at all. This is the same truth of the iPad Pro. Apple makes hardware capable of replacing the Mac but keeps limited OS's on them to maintain the relevance of the Mac. Same rational for not putting Stage Manager on iPhones connected to monitors. Under Tim Cook, they innovate to the extent it doesn't affect sales of another product. He probably fought putting iTunes on the iPhone to keep iPod sales high.

First of all, lets be honest. The majority of the complainers are internet personalities who bought the device with every intention of returning it within the 2 week return window, so they could yap about it on their channels. Most of those people are gamer's who own second rate devices like the quest. I bought my apple vision pro the day of release in Canada and love it! I would go so far as to say it's been the most exciting apple product I've bought since the release of the original iphone. In all honesty, I had issues with it when it first came out but will say without hesitation that apple has addressed every issue I had with the steady stream of product updates it ports to users. Hands down my favourite tech!

I've been using a quest pro for over 2 years now for work (quest 2 was not good enough). So I think you mean VR/AR is a game changer for remote work. If you wear a quest pro there is no way you'd think the AVP is comfortable. But I do think Apple is way ahead on the software side, I use immersed to have 4 55 in easily readable screens but it requires that the quest has an internet connection which is stupid but it's the best for quest. Apple needs to commit to productivity for the next version and make it light, super comfortable, and lose the battery pack (just let the macbook charge the headset like you can on quest). I'm very hopeful for v2 but there is a lot of competition in this space.

way ahead in software? the vision pro lacks essential apps. the only good about this product is the resolution. but work from home using this heavy vr and with less than 2hrs of battery, really? Nothing beats the laptop with external monitor(s) and would cost less than $4,000.

Vision Pro is actually successful for kickstarting the new category that will be the future of technology. It doesn't have to sell as much as something that people already used to and know, it is to give people who bought it a taste of what's to come. If Apple isn't gonna release Vision Pro sooner or later, they will fall behind in technology and Meta will be the only monopoly of tech device which I don't think anyone wanted it to happened.

That news actually inspired this video! People are saying it’s over, but they’re just not making any more of the first-generation devices. They’re not giving up on the device completely, though. They’re still planning to launch a new one in 2025 or 2026. Here's a quote from Tim Cook: “At $3,500, it’s not a mass-market product,” he said. “Right now, it’s an early-adopter product. People who want to have tomorrow’s technology today - that’s who it’s for. Fortunately, there’s enough people who are in that camp that it’s exciting.” “Obviously I’d like to sell more,” the boss added. “But there’s a limit to the number of faces this version of the Vision Pro will be on.”
