First time commenting, but have been watching your videos avidly for about a month or two now. A couple comments: I came for the science of recruiting videos, but I've stayed for your personality and the Ball State dynasty TV show. I also have Ball State in my friends' online dynasty and am just now starting season 2, so it's fascinating to see how your version differs than mine. I love how you narrate exactly what's going on in your head during the games. I've learned so much just from watching you play. Thank you. And lastly, in this video, didn't know if you noticed, but when Kiael Kelly went to a severe risk of injury it happened in one play. He got blown up by a defender that had the aftershock ability which increases effects of wear and tear. So although they did update the wear and tear severity, I'd still keep an eye out for defenders with that ability, especially with Mr. Kelly who has a history of injuries!! hahaha

you do a lot of hotroutes, but a big tip I can share is to adjust audibles too. I go into practice and take my time to "windowdress" looks with quicker audibles (quicker snaps, more chances, etc.). Helps a lot with read option looks and triple options. I am in year like 2031 with CMU in an online dynasty. 4 Straight Nattys. Love the maction

I love the concept you are running on the right side of the field at 29:52 and it worked for a quick throw short gain very nice! Quick tip for anyone interested - as soon as you see its zone then your eyes are on that corner. Wait a half second longer to make the throw if the corner keeps dropping throw it underneath and your player will have more room to pick up more yards. If he comes down to play the flat then the corner route (A) is going to be open over his head.

Yeah that’s a top 3 fav concept for me - quick out + corner + fade I also agree, I could’ve waited just a sec, I was just so focused on gaining the quick yardage that I forced it early

19:33 they fixed this today in the update (can see it in the patch notes addressing poor Cover 1 or 2 defensive blown coverages). Great game, just a shame about the wear & tear system being WAY too overbearing & unforgiving. If its gonna be implimented this harshly then they at least gotta give us some rules/explanaitions on how they can actually recover & what in game is legitimately hurting them outside of just normal football plays.

Pistol Train is the best formation in the game. Makes the computer do some super weird stuff on defense that makes them predictable and therefore every play call pretty easy to read and audible to what will work best

and you should look into the PA HB Wheel play in that formation. Put a fast RB at that h-back spot and he TORCHES man coverage ;)

Dude I’ve been running a TON of HB wheels but interesting notes on the pistol train - what does it make the CPU do? And what are you reading

@@maxplayscfb for whatever reason that formation makes the CPU run either a man blitz or even “Engage 8” 90% of the time. I will block my primary RB to cancel the play action because PA blocking is usually bad and I streak my TE to help hold the middle safety. And then if it’s a man blitz wait for the h-back to turn upfield and he torches his LB covering him assuming you have a RB fast enough. Or if it’s engage 8 a deep third will pick up the HB wheel but the WR crosser will be wide open underneath the retreating 3 deep defenders. That play is magical and accounts for most of my offense lol

I’ll usually come out in the power option because that play is also incredible in that formation and then can audible to the PA HB Wheel play if the defense looks like it can stop the option to the weak side

I know you don’t like Visits, but do you have anything to back it up yet or just a feeling? Does it depend on how your season is going? Maybe only schedule games you know are likely to win or? Just curious about the “science” of the visits at this point in NCAA compared to dumping points instead!

So in July / August I gave it an honest try in a few recruiting seasons and I HATED the results - felt like 90% of the time I’d sink 40 hours into a visit 4 weeks from now and the recruit would either commit BEFORE the visit or the visit wouldn’t do anything But now it does seem like more and more people are becoming fans of visits!! So tbh I think I may need to test it this weekend

imo they just don't give you enough "hours" or points to spend to make those worth it over investing those 40 hours into another player. Like sure ... end of season after many of your scholarships have been accepted its much easier to spend those free points ... but in general, its only ever going to impact the tight races. If they eventually made it so that it was only 10 hours to schedule visits per player, I can see it being useful but right now its way too costly for a one week bump in interest. Only thing I can say that WILL change how much that is used is through the skill tree focused on Visits called Strategist. Can be powerful especially with being able to find Dev Traits from recruiting. But even still that's not a guarentee but just a slightly higher chance & given the other options for spending coach points, you can get better value out of the many other skill trees

A few other CFB guys have said the updates have changed enough that visits do matter more now. However, with Ball State *not* having good grades, how much the visits help is unknown. I loved your analysis earlier this year about when to send and then the update to that, but I do wonder if it's changed. ​@maxplayscfb

@@maxplayscfb In one of the recent patches, they made visits a lot more impactful. I have had multiple instances of adding a visit to a prospect barely in the top 3 and it boosts me to either first or gets a commit on the visit week. They used to be bad, but the patch fixed the value.

Sometimes when I sub out my tired guys who may get hurt, the CPU puts them back in which is kinda frustrating. Does that happen to anyone else, and does anyone know how to solve that?

Might be related to formations? Like if you sub out your ROLB bc he’s hurt but he’s your starting sub LB, he may still appear in the nickel or dime
