What you are seeing there is me selecting my laptop webcam in the browser, so the USB input from the Atem isn't in use and can be used by OBS. Once you switch to using a key instead of a camera, that setting is irrelevant to your settings, other then making the atem available to OBS. (Also, most of these settings look different on Facebook now, but the general idea is the same, they like to change how things look every few months, but it still works the same.)

thanks for sharing and helping the streaming world ... i have a canon xl2 camera and i was wondering if you can recommend a bnc to hdmi converter is so many of them .wich one is good for this camera .thanks
@BallastMedia4 жыл бұрын
That is an SD resolution camera, so you are going to need more then "bnc to HDMI" converter. What is coming out of that camera on it's bnc connector is analog composite video - not SDI digital video. (Even though they both use the same connector type, it's totally different) If you are looking to capture video from the camera in to a computer, you actually need an analog video capture device like this: amzn.to/2LFpx3e and then convert the BNC output of the camera to RCA with this: amzn.to/2JYghGH

Hi there Steven. Greetings and blessings from Portugal. We have a question if you could help us. In our small (for now) church in Porto, Portugal, we just recently started to stream liveI our services online via Facebook. Due to lack of funds to buy a dedicated decent camera (so far), we are using an iPad Pro 12.9 (3rd Gen 2019) to live stream the services. We figured the video and sound quality would be much better than using a smartphone to stream. With the help of a small sound interface - Roland Rubix 22 - connected to the iPad, the sound is turning out OK (we just need to be careful with some possible peak distortions that sometimes happen). The problem is the VIDEO. Honestly we are not too happy with the video quality. It's not even HD quality. When we download the video from Facebook to upload it on our new KZbin channel, it has to be downloaded in SD format. The lighting is good, the internet wifi quality is decent (5G - 100Mbps upload) so that's not the problem. The iPad video record settings are 1080p HD - 60 fps. Should we set it higher? For instance, 4K - 60 fps? Or is it Facebook live that doesn't allow better picture quality? I understand you know a lot about streaming. Could you give us some ideas? - I leave you here our live video from today for you to have an idea of what's coming out: facebook.com/idcidade/videos/236138000928701/ Thanks Steven for your help. Unlimited Blessings to you, your family and ministry. (Eph 3:20) Paulo Batista Igreja da Cidade (City Church - Porto)

I want to know if it is too much for a computer to manage for 4 cameras via HDMI to video capture devices using OBS?
@BallastMedia3 жыл бұрын
There are a couple factors to consider. the 1st is if this is a laptop, will the USB buss be able to provide enough power to power all the USB capture devices needed. If you are on a desktop you could add another PCIe usb card to get additional power. The 2nd issue is just if the laptop CPU is up to processing that much data, you'll need a pretty high end processor and lots of ram.

Up until now I have been using web cams and NDI for camera feeds with OBS, but I want to progress to live event productions now. So im looking to connect DLSRs or Camcorders via HDMI to my computer to then stream a live event via OBS to Facebook as with your video. Up until now I have been using OBS to create scenes and switch between them, with animated intro scenes and title overlays. Just wondering why it is better to use something like a the ATEM mini instead of just using OBS to switch scenes as I have been? I assume its a number of reasons lol. 1. you need something to connect the HDMI cables to your computer, the mini does that?. 2. The buttons on the mini are more intuitive than clicking through scenes in OBS?

@BallastMedia5 жыл бұрын
The cameras we use at our church are $5k, mainly because we use a CCU (camera control unit) to control them remotely (exposure, color, etc) from the control room. The R800 is an entry level camera, if you have great lighting it will look ok. If you have poor lighting it's not going to look great. Unfortunately for live streaming purposes there aren't many cameras that stand out until you get to about $800. Mostly consumer cameras in between that price range are adding features you don't need for live streaming.

Usually audio stopping is a resource issue. But, first I'd check the OBS log (when a drop out occurs) and see if it give any indication of what is happening. In OBS go to Help -> Log Files -> Show Log Files and find the log that was created when you were streaming. OBS creates a log every time it opens until the program is closed.

Short question. I own a Macbook Pro from 2018. I last connected my DSLR via USB and integrated it into OBS using a software solution. A USB mic is also connected to the Macbook Pro. When streaming, the Macbook Pro box has already reached its limits and the CPU load ensures that you can actually no longer use the computer to work in a program and stream a video tutorial, for example. The ATEM Mini Pro with built-in encoder could solve this problem for me. In any case, I understand it that way, when I connect all the hardware mentioned to the ATEM Mini Pro and also connect my Macbook Pro to the ATEM via HDMI, that I can stream directly from the ATEM Mini Pro and the entire CPU performance would no longer come to fruition yes the ATEM is working. How does it all work when I connect all my hardware to the ATEM Mini Pro and connect it to my Macbook Pro via USB-C and then stream from my Macbook Pro via OBS (source is then ATEM video and audio). Is the CPU utilization of my Macbook Pro even smaller than when I use the first scenario without ATEM? Have you been able to gain experience on this?
@BallastMedia3 жыл бұрын
If you still stream through the macbook, you're still doing the encoding on the macbook, which is what is very CPU intensive, so while not having to bring in multiple sources may decrease the load slightly, you'll still be way better of using the Mini Pro to stream.

Hey! Just found your channel today, I'm one of the technicians at our church and we're looking into streaming also. Was wondering if I could use this mini in conjunction to our current Atem Production Studio 4k 8 channel? Or is it better/cheaper to get the Atem USB webcam controller?
@BallastMedia5 жыл бұрын
You could use it just as an interface, yes. It's a bit overkill. You could look at something like that legato HD60s if all you need to do is capture and already have a switcher: amzn.to/2tdNq92

I love your work man! I’m wondering if it’s possible to use a thunderbolt 3 to USB type c cable male to male. So the cable out from the mini USB type c can connect to my laptops thunderbolt 3 transferring more data better quality picture? Is that possible?
@BallastMedia4 жыл бұрын
Yes, that should work. It would be a usb-c to usb-c cable. It won't necessarily change the quality, what's sent over the connection remains the same, but you can use that port.

Thank you for your video! Question I am streaming church service from an Behringer x32 to the atem mini pro. My issue is the output sound has a flanger and I have no idea where it's coming from. I have no effects currently going into the AMP. Any thoughts or suggestions on to check to fix this issue? I appreciate any advice you can provide. God bless!
@BallastMedia2 жыл бұрын
First thing I'd check is your wiring. How are you cabling from the x32 to the input of the Mini?
@atldj712 жыл бұрын
Thanks for getting back to me. On the x32 output xlr to mic 1 stereo cable. Same as your recommendation on cables.

Hi, do you recommend to use obs for youtube too or on youtube i can direct use atem mini like a webcam?
@BallastMedia4 жыл бұрын
I'd recommend still going through OBS. It give you control over what gets sent.

Everything is set up and looks really nice, except it's very dark. I am using ProPresenter 7 to send graphics and using a Canon Vixia camera to record. Is there a way through the ATEM I can brighten my stream?
@BallastMedia3 жыл бұрын
Does it look the same way in camera? If you record on the camera is it the same brightness? Usually brightness is a problem you'll want to fix at the camera or by increasing your light output.

Thank you for your time and posting this video and information. I was wondering is there a way to share my IP address and have someone Remotely from a different location control the graphic overlays for example at a different location. I’m currently working on a live stream show and I would like to have someone else adding titles to the through the software and using my IP address while I am switching video inputs? if not is there a way that I can share my IP address locally to someone with my same network and have them do the graphics? I hope my question make sense
@BallastMedia4 жыл бұрын
Probably the quickest solution would be to have someone use screen sharing, like TeamViewer, to control the computer you have locally that is running graphics.

I have a Zoom F6, can I connect it to one of the 3.5mm jacks via a line jack? I would like to connect 4 Lav mics to the sound recorder.

Yes, just be sure to set the audio input of the Mini to Line Level in the Control Software.

Hi brother! I love your videos man they are so helpful! I have a quick question for you. I purchased the Canon VIXIA HF R800 Camcorder that you recommended and I think its a great camera but I'm having a problem with the audio. No matter what signal I send, the camera seems to be adding some kind of compression to the audio and its driving me crazy! I'm sending a line level mix to the camera and I even have a direct box that can remove up to -50db but the problem is still occurring. Is there a way to turn off the compression on the Canon HF R800? Thank you so much for your help. - Devin
@BallastMedia5 жыл бұрын
It sounds like you have auto-volume turned on, rather than manually setting the volume. In the menu go to Main Functions, and then find Mic Level. Switch that from A to M and set a level.

Can you run OBS and the ATEM mini software from the same computer? Are there any issues with running out of processing speed? What might my ideal processor look like for that?
@BallastMedia4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you should be able to run them on the same computer fine, the Atem control software isn't very CPU intensive. For encoding video I'd recommend an i7 processor. Or, if you have a graphics card that supports NVENC encoding you can probably get away with an i5 processor.

Yes, they've changed the "Live Video" interface. When you click Live Video you will get the new "Live Producer" page. There is a big button for "Use Stream Key" or "Use Camera" Those are the equivalent options for Connect and Camera.

Hi. A question on the Facebook part. I created a Facebook page dedicated to just streaming but for some reason, it doesn't allow me to find a stream key and I have to use my personal page to find one. Is there an activation for my new Facebook page to show the live key on my new page. Doug.

can you stream on facebook and youtube at the same time ? or would you need another software ?
@BallastMedia4 жыл бұрын
Usually when you go to multiple socials you need a service to do that. Castr.io or restream.io are two services that will allow you to go to multiple socials at the same time. OBS only goes to one destination. So you would use OBS to send to castr.io (or restream.io) and they distribute it for you.

Great video. Please help I am experiencing some challenges with my monitor. I finished setting up my brand new ATEM MINI PRO ISO on Saturday night for service yesterday. Except yesterday I get to church and while setting up I think I may have changed a setting on the ATEM SOFTWARE CONTROL (1080p24fps) All of a sudden my monitor stops working and I am unable to use the switcher for service today cause I can’t see any of the inputs/preview/programme on the monitor. I have tried all the different video settings but the Monitor is still saying “NO SIGNAL”. But it was working fine last night. I have tried everything (restart ATEM MINI PRO, COMPUTER, RESTORE ATEM MINI PRO ISO through SOFTWARE CENTER by going to FILE -> RESTORE). Please advise what to do! Obviously a bit down I couldn’t use my ATEM MINI PRO ISO for the first time yesterday.
