I have the ATEM Mini Pro ISO connected to my Mac with a long USB 3.0 cable (4 meter) and using an adapter at the ATEM for the USB C out. It's not working. Have you found that longer cables don't work or should I be using a longer USB-C cable and an adapter at the computer end? I don't have USB-C into my Mac, so I have to get the input from the ATEM to a USB 3.0 type.

A few tricky bits to watch out for: Make sure your audio goes into your camera and from there into the computer, HDMI will otherwise give you a delay. Also, if you also share a screen and your system audio, get a mix-minus set up for your participants, otherwise they will hear themselves echo.

I have connected the ATEM Mini to vMix and used vMix output as my Zoom camera in. Worked great. VMix can also display the current output on a screen, if you have a two or three screens connected to your PC. Doing that lets you do a screen share in Zoom which shows the vMix/OBS output. This allow you to combine all the features of the ATEM and vMix/OBS. 😁

Question: why are you using OBS to record the feed rather than the usb out to direct record to a hard drive from the Atem Pro?
@AlexPettitt4 жыл бұрын
Hey Allie, it’s because I was using the USB-C to send a feed to my Mac for the Zoom call, so with the USB-C already in use, you can not plug a Hard drive into it for recording, so best way to record is via software on the same Pc/Mac

@@AlexPettitt Just to clarify your point here. If you're using the ATEM Mini Pro ISO and using your USB-C to connect the switcher to your laptop, this will means you're unable to record each angle independently correct? I don't believe OBS allows for that and only captures the switched stream output. This is a major flaw with the design and something I hope BMD addresses in their next model. @ShaneHarderPhoto4 жыл бұрын
This is a great method. The way I've done it is by using my laptop webcam so the person I'm talking to sees that, then I use the ATEM mini pro PIP to overlay over the top of the little video window zoom shows of yourself talking using the laptop webcam. Then I can record directly out of the USB C port. The nice thing about this is it's simpler, the bad thing is the person I'm talking to sees a terrible webcam video feed of myself instead of a nice looking feed. BUT.... I've worked around that by using a 5D mk IV I typically only use as a stills camera and the new EOS webcam utility to use my 5D as the webcam so the person I'm talking to still has a nice image.

Hey Nelson, thanks for the kind comment. I actually didn’t apply any colour correction at all. I do this to speed up my whole workflow. But, if you’re looking to add colour correction, the ATEM Mini can only control/colour correct BlackMagic Pocket Cinema cams, so any other cameras would need to be colour corrected either on camera or in post. I want to do something like this with my son, who lives in another state, where we got on Zoom call and I use the ATEM Mini to live stream, with the ability to add callers to Zooma and see and hear them on the live stream, again using ATEM Mini, not the Zoom streaming feature. I've integrated my entire 3 camera set-up built around the ATEM Mini Pro on many Skype and Zoom meetings and it's been working great.)

Maybe try opening up QuickTime and recording in there. Or even better, try recording to a USB-C drive using the ATEM Mini Pro recorder. Then, check if that file is in sync. If it is, you know that the ATEM Mini Pro is fine, so the issue is with your MacBook. If it’s not in sync on the ATEM Recording, then that means that there is a sync issue with your audio/video sources :)

@@AlexPettitt Thank you Alex...Sorry I should have said...everything is fine with recording USB-C out to an external HD...beautiful video and audio and totally in sync. I will try recording to QuickTime, that's a good idea. I think the OBS issue is my weak MacBook Air. I'm going to be getting a fully powered 2015 MacBook Pro at some point BUT if I don't use multi view during an event production, which I don't really need, I can record beautiful video (totally in sync) with my Avermedia Live Gamer Portable as I split the ATEM Mini Pro HDMI out to video monitor with a splitter...works great! (I use the Mini Pro USB-C out to connect to computer for ATEM Mini Pro control software and I use ATEM Mini Pro ethernet out to my router or travel router on gigs for internet streaming and so my MacBook Air can have wifi internet for live internet websites as a program source into HDMI input 4 of the Mini Pro. Things will be a smoother and less work-aroundish when I get a second computer...and this MacBook Air will be for graphics source only.) Cheers, Mate!

Thx for the tutorial! Zoom is obviously reducing the resolution of the webcam input. I came acorss the issue when using Powerpoint presentation. When I share it directly in Zoom, it has good resolution. When I feed it from an extra Notebook through the ATEM mini it gets reduced in resolution. The output resolution from the ATEM mini is still ok at HD. But the viewers in the Zoom webinar get a much lower resolution. Does someone have a fix to that?

Excellent stuff! Just wanted to go one step further. If I wanted to play/share videos with audio during my live stream or Zoom/Teams call, should I still be using the built-in "share screen" function in the Zoom/Teams software or should I have the video on a second device feeding into the ATEM mini pro? If I don't have a second device for the latter, how can I circumvent this? Thanks!
