Lovely answers! To add my own to your final question: I love ballet as I feel like I’m keeping a piece of history alive whilst pushing it forward. It is historic, timeless and progressive. Ballet also gave me the discipline, foundation & technique for all of the other genres of dance I’ve moved into along the way. I love the universal language, and that is a testament to the fact that you were able to travel to a non English speaking country to study ballet. Thank you for another informative video ❤

For me, ballet and dance is that opportunity for the body to have voice - on those rare occasions the mind seems to melt and be filled with music that permeates through everything and the body speaks; emotions step forth. And connectedness - an inner connectedness, connectedness with the music, connectedness with a partner and audiance, connectedness with other dancers - we become unwrapped in a way and shine.

... perhaps with any artform we near or touch on something greater than ourselves and experience something that transcends and transforms. And then it is gone to be discovered again.

I fell in Love with Ballet the 1st time I saw The Nutcracker. Everything you said on why you love ballet is how I feel. The beautiful music, the story, and the grace and power you need to have to perform is so challenging, and so worth it.❤❤❤

Thank you for another informative video! As a non-dancer, I find myself fascinated by the ballet universe like an awe-struck Muggle learning about the wizarding world they cannot enter. Ballet universe is so different from ordinary life and even from every elite sport I can think of. The dedication which aspiring professionals and pro dancers need to have seems to be of a higher intensity than for Olympic athletes because the demands on ballet dancers' bodies are so extreme. The requirements of the 90-minute class every day blew my mind, and when I've told other non-dancers about it, they don't believe it at first. I'm very grateful for all the ballet KZbinrs. Isabella, I really appreciate your unique experiences and perspectives on ballet. Your achievements are staggering! What impresses me the most, though, is that you truly care about helping all students succeed, including adults who have very little chance of becoming professionals. It sounds like you went through some harsh experiences with mean/abusive teachers and toxic environments. Some people who go through that choose to treat their own students like that and I'm so glad you have chosen a more understanding and supportive approach. Thank you for the video, and have a great week! 🩰😄💐

Really interesting video, thank you. I love ballet because it was in many ways my first language and first way of communicating. I also love the discipline it taught me, which has been so good for every other area of my life even after I stopped attending ballet class at the age of 26. ( I carried on with contemporary after that.) I love that sense of freedom I would get, just improvising and dancing my heart out. Nowadays I love ballet as a spectator and I find the details of dancers' performances so fascinating to watch and analyse.

What a nice video! I love your Q and As! I'd have other questions to ask you: What did you do in your graduation performances? How did it go with your back injury? What is the difference between à la seconde and écarte? Could you share other exams like partnering or acting class? Which performances were you in during your time at Vaganova? Greetings from Germany 🩰🌻

I had a great love of music from an early age. Some days I get to ballet not feeling so well, but if their is inspirational music, it makes me come alive. That is the main reason, to be able to respond to the music. I also appreciate the discipline and consistency. I had a very unsettled childhood, ballet gave me a safe and nurturing place to go to, and a life long love.💓🩰
