I'm buying capezio shoes in 2 days, they're my first ballet shoes ever, and I'm a size 8. I was so confused about the sizes! I was going to get a size 10. Thanks for posting this!

Thank you! I’ve consistently seen comments that say you need to size up 2.5 sizes, despite websites saying 1-2 sizes. I wanted to clear it up before I ordered.

There is way more to proper shoes measurements than just that. You got the box, the shank, and the vamp to worry about. Nobody's foot measures the same

I love the Capezio tights and Wear Moi leos as well. For the hair net: Bunheads has some "Heavy duty" type of hair net, 1 piece per packaging instead of 3 but much much more durable. Another recommandation for slippers: So Danca canvas split sole, canvas slippers can be thrown into the washing machine every now and then, can't really do that with leather. Thank you for your videos and your efforts to introduce ballet to adult beginners! :)

My personal list would be: A Nikolai brand leotard these Leo’s are sleek cute cheap and functional Capezio canvas flat shoes Light pink or nude tights (capezios porcelain color is great) Bullet pointe black ballet skirt Warm ups (take off after plies) Suffolk flared leg warmers A light weight puffer vest Tools: Insulated water bottle Large tote bag Extra hair kit Theraband to warm up your foot muscles

Do you have different recommendations for male ballet dancers? I believe the dress code is different but I'm new to this so I may have misunderstood.
@CuteNoririn2 жыл бұрын
Slippers, a pair of tights or leggings and a tight fitting shirt, so the posture can be corrected. The male dancer at my class wears long workout tights and a tight sports shirt with his slippers.

The male dancers in some of my adult ballet classes wear joggers that are the more fitted kind. It depends on your studio but your teacher can be very helpful at suggestions.

@ashledashnaw2575Ай бұрын
You can't have fingers on your feet, and you're not a ballet dancer if you don't know the proper name of the parts of the shoes nor the proper name of the shoes, also not knowing where to get them is a tall tale indicator you don't dance either. Take some actual classes

On the hair clip thing what if you were born with thin hair
@mysticzyoga2 ай бұрын
Hi, One thing I know about having thin, fine, straight hair is we almost have to treat it the same as super curly hair, (gentlly and with different product than thick straight or wavy hair.) I learned this from an 80 year old hairdresser. I'm not a dancer but, I like using Palmers hair creme, (when hair is dry,) after brushed into place for the pony portion, and then using it on the tail before wrapping.) we don't need to much but, it adds some volume and control.) Oh, I see your comment is 2 years old, hope this helps another one of us straight, thin fine hair people.

If you cant afford or simply cant find any ballet classes in person, is there any online resource you find helpful for learning? I took ballet as a kid but had to stop once I left the school it was an elective in. I would love to pick it back up, despite my scattered memories, but I dont have the money to pay for lessons.

Wait if u don’t wear underwear, then how do ppl deal with menstrual cycles??
@EmL-kg5gn6 ай бұрын
Some people do prefer to wear underwear! Sometimes dancers wear shorts over their leotard to give more coverage just in case there’s an accident. A lot of dancers prefer to wear tampons (some wear menstrual cups but that’s more challenging). If you’re using tampons you don’t need to disguise a pad. I haven’t tried but I imagine you could put a wingless liner onto a leotard?? I’ve also seen period underwear specifically designed for dancers which would be a great option if you usually prefer pads!!
@tammystiletto10 күн бұрын
I use a wingless pad in my tights. There are period tights now similar to period underwear. Some wear tampons or a cup with a liner for any leaks. Some schools allow you to wear tights over the Leo’s (this is a common debate over whether it’s helpful or comfier or not) and some schools allow you to just add shorts if you feel the need. It’s also the type of atmosphere where it’s so normal and understandable and that takes away a lot of the anxiety
