So very true! My 13 year old wasn’t able to grasp the idea. My 15 year old nursed like a pro. Hopefully he figured it out, but if he doesn’t, at least you gave it a go.

It’s so so stressful, I went through it with my twins who both couldn’t latch, ended up giving them formula in the end but I felt terrible in the hospital when I couldn’t feed them and always feel sad I didn’t get to experience breast feeding! Jessica is handling it so well! x

I just think it's crazy that humans get like a year to even start walking (well, 9-15 months...whatever) yet so many animals have to walk on their very first day, isnt that crazy? We need our babies to take a year tho...can you imagine if Luke just stood up and walked over to feed....ahhhhhh. We would freak out. Like you implied, we like them just the way they are where it takes some time to catch on to things.

Patti V. It’s mainly prey animals because they obviously are much more vulnerable than predators. Like a foal would stand up almost instantly where as a lion cub’s eyes would be closed and they wouldn’t be able to crawl/walk much for a few weeks! But its really interesting ^^

@@maiarostved oh yes I am quite the animal fan. Definitely a line between the predator and prey and how and why they spend their first few weeks and months. Makes me curious about marsupials and the benefit of giving birth to a jelly bean (if you know what I mean) where it basically gestates in the pouch. I wonder if that is safer for the mom as prey to not be heavily pregnant all that time. Maybe it allows her to escape and help the baby to escape but still be able to give the baby time to grow in there. Hmm. It's all so interesting. Love that we get to be along for the ride with dear baby Luke... ironically he will be getting lots of nice warm kangaroo care especially these first few weeks.

You can tell how much they love their baby brother, unlike when I was born, my older brother was not a fan and refused to take pictures with me so my mom would crop him into pictures for my baby book! lol
