I think you guys should make your barrels and your gas blocks with a center line so they line up easy. Also do you recommend using a .25 feeler gauge to space the back of the gas block.

Would it be better to install the gas tube in the gas block before installing so your not knocking your gas block out of alignment?

So if you have a pinned gas block do you have to dimple the barrel or will the pin and screws without dimple get the job done?
@mikemaddox7927
@mikemaddox7927 8 жыл бұрын
If it's pinned your g2g, no need to dimple the barrel. Although you can of you believe your rifle has that big of a chance of a gas block shifting. but be honest the reason we have the lo pro gas blocks is because they will be covered by a handguard. so unless your deliberately like beating your at into the side of a tree where the gas block is located, I wouldn't worry about it bud.

Just order 2 16” barrels from BA in 556 and 300AAC. Will the set screw gas blocks be secure enough without dimpling the barrels? I feel that dimpling is unnecessary when running a free float rail that goes over the gas block.

Hey Clint thanks for the builders series it was super helpful and I think your barrels are great but IMHO extremely underrated, then again I don't really care what the brand name only crew thinks anyway (I'm not saying your barrels are considered second rate at all, I'm just talking about the guys who purchase whatever costs the most because that must mean it's the best kinda guys). With that rant out of the way, my question is what are your thoughts on dimpling barrels for a gas block install? Necessary or unnecessary? Let me know if you have the time, and thanks again!

There should be a slight Gap in case you wanted to install the end cap to a drop-in handguard which he forgot to mention I don't think these KZbin guys I using the right process I can't seem to find one they're all doing the same thing they're placing the gas block directly up against the shoulder not accounting for the little Gap that needs to be there

@@crypto_pinto2660 some barrels need the gap. Most aftermarket barrels are made to be pushed up against because they assume you'll be using a free float handguard

robert pinto there’s a newer video out Their hanson barrels arent manufactured with that gap because its assumed the user will not be using handguard end cap. Some barrel manufacturers do not make their barrels with that relief spacing Easy way to check, buy the KAK universal dimple jig for like $20. The top pointed screw aligns everything. If theres a gap betwen the jig and the shoulder theres a manufactured relief space if not then it wasnt manufactured with one intentionally

Probably way too late of a response but I ordered a premium 11.3" 5.56 barrel. The gas block arrived attached to the barrel, but the set screws were barely tight and it had not been pinned yet so the gas block can easily be removed from the barrel for installation of the barrel nut

I appreciate your knowledge and love your barrels, I own 3, but why don't you dimple the barrels for the end user and take the guess work out of installing a gas block. Eyeball is nuts when a single simple dimple would align it correctly everytime. BCA, which are $40 come with a DIMPLE! C'mon man!
@GriffXJ
@GriffXJ 6 жыл бұрын
Not all gas blocks will have the same distance between screws. If you decide to use a different brand or style of gas block, those dimples won't line up. Dimples aren't necessary with the Hanson barrels due to the pin, you'll get a little side-to-side play, but it'll still be a lot easier than having nothing.

How to remove AR Gas Block that some idiot used ROCKSETT on set screws on AR Gas Block.. Q: Besides smacking the dinky 7/64 / 0.097 screws hoping they will break loose, how do you break loose the dinky little Allen head screws on a gas block if Rocksett has been used ? ? ? Heat = No Water ? (I've read soaking Rocksett in water softens up bond) "Shocking" the bond by inserting a short piece of Allen key, and smacking it wit hammer? Thoughts, tips?
@BallisticAdvantage
@BallisticAdvantage 6 жыл бұрын
I would try using heat from a torch, it should help break it up. Then, without burning yourself use the Allen Key to see if it will come loose.
@WeAreNotAlone69
@WeAreNotAlone69 6 жыл бұрын
Ballistic Advantage posted " I would try using heat from a torch, it should help break it up." Appreciate the response but ROCKSETT is designed to resist high heat. Correct way to loosen is via soaking in WATER, and or in addition to water "Shocking" the joint. HEAT is not very effective.

I know, right! It's totally bombproof, never ever wonder if there's even the slightest chance your gas block has moved. I cringe when i watch a video of a gas block install, especially the clamp on style, and the youtuber treats the install with no more significance than an accessory install. I realize that in many cases the un-pinned gas blocks never present a problem, but when you put all your confidence in the quality of a 10-32 screw 3/16 ” long and all the forces acting upon it you are taking the long bet. In contrast, the force required to cause a failure of a properly pinned gas block would suggest a catastrophic level failure of the firearm, like the gun blowing up. I'm no gunsmith true, but I'm no stranger to engineering and mechanics.
