Tip for anyone watching for a upcoming procedure, ask your Doctor if you can use sore throat numbing spray only after you get the feeling back from the numbing lidocaine. Almost all will say its fine and it really helps if you're more squimish or can't handle mucus/blood taste from draining as well as help make the irrigation and afrin spray more manageable

Hello, I am getting this done at the end of August. I have been having issue since 2003! 19 years now!!! I did rhinoplasty in Paris, and I moved to Montreal Canada right after that where I started having allergies. So, both combined I ended up taking nose spray. Some days are worse than others. Sometimes I do not breath at all and sometimes just one of them. I forgot how I did breathe before?! it's been so long! If this could help me, I think I would just cry of happiness. I am scared of the medicine before because those makes me sick. I am not a medicine person. Freaking out about the procedure, that is why I never had the courage to do it. But I must! It helps to have a younger body with any medical procedure, in my case I am on the upper third age wise so this must be why my experience differs from yours with regard to pain and recovery times. My doc did a couple extra bonus nose procedures because of a coin toss game he plays, “win the game get some extra misery”. He clipped an adhesion from a prior fight and cauterized the side which has chronic bleeding. When he inserted the numbing agent into both nostrils that may have been as unpleasant as it gets, a bit too forceful I believe so quite a bit of tolerable pain. The cutting was not fun and expanding the balloons which makes the cartilage crack and sounds like stepping on bubble wrap, which opens the pathway was not pleasant but tolerable due to the medication given prior to the procedure. Whenever you have your cartridge cracked be prepared for some pain, certainly not horrible but there. The issues I have are all post op. ; Extremely clogged and swollen passages, lots of blood for the first three days, doing a sinus rinse 4-5 times a day is good but the saline tends to burn everything to some degree, I wasn’t told about that side effect and would have appreciated knowing about it as it is a bit unpleasant and a little warning would have helped. I had hoped this was going to be much easier to deal with and almost ready to roll after 5 days, not this time around but if it all works in the end it will have definitely been worth it.

The office I went to recommend this procedure to everyone that walks in. Makes me think they make good profit from the insurance companies. Not sure but I didn’t find out this particular business did this until seeing a different ENT and they explained that certain companies do this: not sure, but I still get stuffed up every night and have frequent sinus infections and post nasal drip. It’s been long enough that my nose has healed. Overall wouldn’t ever do it again, just a bloody painful mess I was awake the entire time. Horrible

@charlesg79262 жыл бұрын
Septoplasty is a permanent solution, balloon sinuplasty is temporary. The balloon is good where surgery/cutting isn’t possible or where cutting/surgery is risky. Balloon sinuplasty is also good when you think the problem will go away once sinuses are initially opened and drained
@charlesg79262 жыл бұрын
For me, I did more than just the balloon procedure only. I had a 4-part sinus surgery and it was AMAZING! :) I had: 1) my deviated septum straightened. 2) turbinate reduction. 3) enlarged my right sinus cavity 4) Eustachian tube balloon sinuplasty
@charlesg79262 жыл бұрын
Balloon sinuplasty is basically an “I’m too afraid to get real surgery” surgery. It’s great technology, but from what I’ve studied and also from my experience getting the 4-part “REAL” surgery, I’d say the COMPLETE surgery is a much better long-term option for lasting results.
@charlesg79262 жыл бұрын
Balloon sinuplasty is almost like a “maintenance” thing. Or its a great addition, if you’re also combining that with other surgery. For example, my right sinus was initially (first) opened and drained using the balloon sinuplasty… BUT, my surgeon also then cut away the tissue from that sinus opening, bcuz he said it wasn’t gonna stay open with just the balloon bcuz the sinus was resisting and very closed off. So it needed to be cut and re-shaped, to be more open, so it can permanently be able to drain fluid/mucus (and also be able to equalize when I’m going scuba diving). Which makes total 100% sense and I’m glad he did it
