This is the best instruction I have ever seen. The background of white walls with dark colored clothes makes it easy to see what the body articulation is. Yeah, I wish he was my instructor also! Great job! Thank you!

Very good explanation. I agree with SKY who mentioned that you demonstrate facing away from us. I always find it so hard to reverse the image while I am trying to follow the moves. Thanks.

So in the Whisk, the 2nd step of each Whisk is in more of an "open" Latin cross position in the leg-line, not a "closed". Right?

Hey Alexey! Great video as always 😀 But what about the knees in stationatries? Should we straighten them all the way down for a split second? I am talking about the leg which stays in front.
@ballroomwithalexey39515 жыл бұрын
Pjoter hi there, thank you for a great question. Yes you need to straighten your standing knee for a fraction of a second as a result of hip action. 😊
@johninvirginia77795 жыл бұрын
A video on this subject (Walter Laird Book) DELAYED WALKS During certain figures, mainly In Rumba and Cha Cha Cha, a special type of walk action is introduced to achieve changes in body and foot speeds which enhance rhylhmic interpretation. These are called Delayed Walks and there are three types: 1. Delayed Forward Walk, knee compressed. 2. Delayed Forward Walk, knee straight. 3. Delayed Backward Walk, knee compressed. During these walks the foot is first moved into position without full weight transfer. Weight is then transferred later than is normal and the turn appropriate to the movement is then made. Depending upon the position in which the Delayed Forward Walk is used, the knee of the stepping leg may either be straight (as in the normal Forward Walk) or compressed while without full weight The knee of the leg collecting weight is always straightened when full weight is transferred. The knee of the stepping leg of all Delayed Backward Walks is always compressed while without full weight. The Charts indicate all positions in which a Delayed Walk should be used. A note to appropriate charts states whether the Delayed Forward Walk has a straight or compressed knee while without weight.

Thank you, Alexey. Please explain why when you dance figures in quick tempo you dont do a full hip acton on the second beat. You do it slowly on 1st beat and then you stay high level without going down like in bounce action? Is it your style or maybe try to go down on the 1st and 2nd beats?

Thanks for your feedback Dimitri! Most likely it is just a lot smaller so it’s harder to see, but fundamentally it is still there!

Hey, Alexey. This may be a strange request but could you please make a video on how to hear the beats in the Cha cha/ Rumba. I seem to have the problem of finding/hearing count 1 in the middle of a song. When it's the beginning of a song, i start counting and there are no problems. However if i stop counting for a couple of seconds and then try to find count 1 again, it's difficult. Thanks and keep up the good work :)
@ballroomwithalexey39515 жыл бұрын
M hi, no it’s absolutely not a strange request in fact it is one of the most popular ones so I am planning on doing with you on that topic even though it’s pretty challenging to explain it in the video format. But I’ll try my best 😊

Hey Abby, Actually, Alexey is your instructor and does not cost you a Dime. Alexey presents his teaching as if you have no partner which is the Big problem finding a partner who has the interest and desire. John

FYI This video has a direct connection with Walter Laird , Technique of Latin Dancing, Page 56 Samba Whisks Page 59 Stationary Samba Walks : Alexey is essentially teaching with the collection of videos , the above so you can take the Medal Test or Associate Test (usistd.org/examinations/usistd-medal-system/) (usistd.org/examinations/exams-tests/) :

For beginners its okay. However if someone wants to develop themself more they will find the flaws like touching the basic principles which has been long forgotten... Easiest way to find it, is trying to count the 8 counting system of he stationary samba walks instead the 4 note system with "1 a 2"; "3 a 4". The moment when some1 goes into the detail "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8" things will be getting different. However its still a free video and Alexey was indeed trying to share his experience with everyone as good as he can guide someone.
