Ahmad2423 - this is the truth. He truly understood how to play the real game - it's about location and position. At the end in this interview in the video he says he had to use his athleticism a bit in this game but he understood that this could only be a second option- he understood fundamentals came first and never tried to use only speed or one on one skills like ball handling as his first option. Today, because of the open space created by today's restrictions on defense, kids don't even learn half of the fundamentals and think the game is about the "handle" - There will never be another MJ!!!

Actually, Alonzo Mourning shook his head in disbelief bcoz Rodman grabbed 22 rebounds with him being the Center. This is y Rodman is one of the 75 Greatest and Mourning didn't even make all those "Snub List"

Thx for the video! When Kobe tried to or scored 50+ pts, he'd look all belligerent, or "black mamba" alike!, then played his own game/s--Kobe scored 81 pts! Watching this video few times, always got this feeling as if MJ was just chilling in the game, his game was so simple--effortless, smooth, controlled and he had fun! Yet, his game was aggressive and menacing--when you saw his Airness and the Bulls coming, you "ran"! The levels of psychological pressures exerted on the opposite team was playing pro basketball way off its curve. Then, what followed would be basketball game so pleasantly and creatively played. Games were often described by "did you see that???!!!!........" Now, that's Greatness!
@TheLionaaa9 жыл бұрын
+yosoys Not only that but the Heat was a contender for the title. They were a great team but MJ made them look like a bunch of rookies. Like you said, he's just chilling out there on the court. And the second thing is the level of plays he makes that are unbelievable. Spectacular shots after spectacular shots and this is a 34 years old player! Jordan anticipates so well what the defense is gonna do and where the double team is coming that it doesn't even look like he's constantly double teamed but he is. But as soon as the second defender wanna come, he reads it and gets rid of the double team and score a tough shot easily that doesn't even surprise anybody...including the announcers lol. And again, this is a tough defensive team and an elite team with elite players. For example check at 7:45, he waits to see who is going to double team him, as soon as he sees Voshon Leonard coming, he takes a (very tough) fadeaway by going away from his double team and makes it look easy. And then you got of course the spectacular no look shot, the buzzer beater, the alley-hoop dunk...just Jordan being Jordan.

As Phil Jackson would say, MJ worked himself into a nice lather. He wouldn't force it or push it. He just worked himself into the game and filled in wherever needed.

To those who say MJ got special treatment from the refs.. I say this.. When you elevate your sport like he did, and single handily earn billions of dollars for your sport. You've EARNED that treatment. Even players today have these big contracts only because Jordan paved the way
@kcire-tv3wy7 жыл бұрын
People forget the early years when he would get called for travelling all the time because his first step was so quick, until they slowed the tape and found out otherwise. Or when teams would beat him up at the basket and he wouldn't get calls because the refs expected him to make the shot anyways. People forget those moments. I don't because I saw them.

And he dominated in an era of MEN. Lebrick plays vs boys who spend a year in a college gym (not in class). Plus he washed out chips from hof's like reggie, charles, drexler, payton, stock, mailman, and the centers from that era - shaq, ewing, robinson, even smits and daugherty - and we all know the bulls would have beaten the dream's rockets. they all had to wait til he retired. to me that 94-95 retirement only showed how great he was. to come back and 3-peat again after retirement. GOAT

For comeback MJ this was for me his peak - not physical peak - but basketball player peak. He had trimmed off a few pounds from his 95-96 season weight because of tendinitis in his knees and he had noticeably more lift and speed here than in the 96 finals. And when they played the Sonics again this year he torched Payton and co. This game and the 55 point playoff game against the Bullets really shows the best of this stage of his career.

Jordan just toyed with the Heat during his career lol. They were a fairly legit contender that year, too, winning 61 games. Their top 6 or 7 were every bit as good as most teams in the league not named Chicago or Utah, anyway. Prime Tim Hardaway (was 1st team All NBA this season, 4th in MVP voting) Prime Alonzo Mourning - nuff said Traded 6'5 Sasha Danilovic mid-season for 6'8 Jamal Mashburn. Even coming off an injury he was a much better all around player PJ Brown - defensive stalwart and rebounder, one of the strongest guys in the league Voshon Lenard was a bucket getter Isaac Austin - backup to Zo, won most improved player this season Dan Majerle - not the same Majerle who was a lethal two-way player in Phx, but still a very capable shooter and defender now in his early 30s. But the Bulls still smoked them in the ECF, newrly sweeping them before Miami won a close game 4, en route to a 4-1 gentleman's sweep 😂
