Nice video Matt. Yes, Stripers will have a few broken lines wild or stocked. Hybrids will have an obvious almost checker board pattern and have a much wider, more broad body. The Striper is more streamlined like a torpedo.

The Hybrid Stripped bass has ruined a lot of lakes in the US . The still spawn and eat everything that moves . Any State that released these inedible eating machines should be sued .

Great video, love striper. Ever since we moved from PA to Utah I felt like I lost all my east coast saltwater and lake Erie fish, but here at lake powell we have an over abundance of big fat striper and walleye. Both species are unlimited on the take (nothing like filling the freezer). So fun to see you catching striper they are such an overlooked table fare I'm definitely trying this recipe later this week after the snow passes. God Bless and if you ever want to bring the family for a vacation here in Kanab Utah let me know and we'll take you all over and get you some great fishing content

Stripes tend to have a belly. White bass have humpbacks. Hybrids have a little of both.

I remember catching lots of flounder in canals around Sarasota Bay in the winter. There were enough to target them. Those stripers look like a lot of fun.

Nothing like a Northeast/NY area striper. A nice 40lb cow is an incredible fight. There's a few open boats and tons of private charters out of Montauk. I highly recommend

Yeah I caught striper with broke lines all the time easy to tell dif if u catch them both often hybrid is more foot ball shaped and more of a slant from tip fin to nose more poka dotted looking lines

I watch a lot of fishing channels. It amazes me how they always forget the net. Just put a net in each boat they aren't that expensive lol.

I used to stripper fish a lot and have seen a few that had broken lines
@waterassassinfishingbuilds61224 ай бұрын
Absolutely they can have a few broken lines! If most are broke then it’s a hybrid, but there’s no doubt that’s a full fledge striper!!
@stripermanly4 ай бұрын
Stripers can have broken lines just like you said. The most distinctive differences between the two is their shape and thickness of their lines. Stripers have more of a cigar shape. Hybrids are more football shaped. Also, striper lines are about twice as thick as a hybrid. Hybrids are more like a white bass with thinner lines. Bonus knowledge! In trying to decided the difference between a small hybrid and a white bass, a hybrid will have 3 lines that go all the way to the tail. White bass only have their lateral line go all the way to the tail.

Matt you should try bleeding them out before you fillet them. Makes for a much better flavor. Great video…..

Stripers with broken lines are generally hybrids stocked in alot of lakes we call them wipers in our area
@robgover83414 ай бұрын
Wrong. Plenty of stripers have broken lines. The difference is ALL hybrids have broken lines. Body depth is the most obvious difference between the two. Stripers are longer and hybrids have a lot more body depth from top to bottom.

Where can I catch striped bass in lower Alabama?
@joegrande48484 ай бұрын
I used a fly snap on a 1/32 oz white crappie jig with a white grub and trophy bass. Reason I used fly snap 10lb monofilament line wouldn't go through eye of the jig. I threw crappie jig and a good striper hit the jig with a vengeance and broke the fly snap. The striper rolled on its back after it jumped and lost nice striper. Also lost a 3plus lb smallie, probably a 4 on a white crappie jig 1/32 oz with white grub and trophy bass. Hard lessons learned lost 2 good fish. I put a 1/8 oz white crappie jig with white grub and caught 4 big smallies. After losing 2 nice fish, I ditched fly snaps. I have a 4lb slime line I'll use on my rod. That way, if I tie a 1/32 oz white crappie jig with white grub worm, I won't break off. 😢

If you’re fishing striper with a paddle tail, Matt then drag that shit across the bottom just so the paddle tail barely kicks and kicks up a little bit of mud that’s what you want or the sand or something else so whatever bottom service are fishing on you want that paddle dragon on that and kicking back-and-forth? That’s been for the stripers in my experience out here in California you want that paddle tail kicking up the most mud you could have kicked up

Oh, the wife out fishes you take her anyway. Watch what she does. No harm in it, brother. My friend out fished me he told me keep it simple. I did what he said. I sold a lot of lures. I put countless hours in watched videos applied what I learned an nothing. Now I just use a 6 inch leader with size 1,2, or 4 baitholder hooks size 12 to catch bait. A split shot 6 inches above where 6 inch leader with baitholder hook is. 2 small split shots with a smoky zero z too or 5 inch finesse worm with trophy bass by procure. A 6 inch leader with a size 1 or 2 bait holder a small slip bobber. I measure 12 inches above where leader ties to line put 2 small split shots below slip bobber. Then a drop shot. Also a 2/0 or 3/0 super line ewg with a 1/16 or 1/32 bullet weight with a delta red crayfish rage craw by strike king. A white crappie jig 1/16 1/32 or 1/8 white grub worm. A Berkeley choppo kvd splash or a wake bait and a jerkbait. I use trophy bass shad scent or nightcrawler or blood worm by procure. Finally some times live baitfish I catch using a 6 inch leader with a size 12 baitholder weightless. That's all I use. Yes it's a lot but I had a lot more I used I worked hard using to get good using and caught nothing. Now, on a slow day, I catch 6 to 7 fish. A good day 12 or 14 fish. I'd catch more. If I had more time 😊❤ you could try this it works well for me. Sorry, it's a lot, I know. Oh, let's not forget crappie jigs

I don't know much about stripers (lol almost said strippers) but it does seem to be that the stripes would be almost like fingerprints and not exactly the same on any one fish

Don't know what's going on I'm watching a video called How Bad has this hunting season been and all the replies are to Matt's night time fishing video. Anyway, they don't get twisted together but the tube attached can twist and cut off blood supply off to one, my father had to have one removed in his fifties.
