I remember sitting in a lazy boy and was rocking, eventually sitting forward, then leaning on left elbow with hand going back ‘n forth from my temples…… getting to “criss cross” like a dang child, after we win a walk around the house cursing our defense. Freaking Pete Golding…. Sooo glad he’s gone as when we did have the defense ranked high in a category it was because 2 ridiculous edge rushers and our pass defense, which despite looking horrible in spots this past season finished #2 in the SEC only behind A&M and Saban coaches the DBs. That guy wasn’t even smart enough to say “Hey Drew Sanders, switch to MLB” when Sanders came back from his injury. Don’t hate Pete, just glad he’s freaking gone.

I chose to start watching all of the highlights for this year after we won the title last night and this game makes even less sense in hindsight. Ole Miss has a good offense, but they weren't that good. I'm just going to chalk it up to Kiffin knowing exactly what to do against us. Strap in; guys. These games against them are going to be heart attack games again like they were under Freeze.

As we all know, the defense has to improve massively right away for Bama to come out with a win over Georgia this week. This was statistically the worst defensive performance in Alabama football history and I think everyone agrees that it was a shameful display. With the exception of Najee Harris' fumble, the offense played a nearly perfect game against one of the worst defenses in the country, but that won't be sustainable week after week. We heard a lot of talk from the defensive players this offseason about how much they had improved and how they were determined to reestablish the Alabama standard - time for them to back that up.

Nick was weirdly upbeat in the postgame presser. Distressingly so. This was a BIG12 like game and I do not mean that in a positive way at all. If the Tide had plays like this against UGA they're hosed.

Alabama's offense was scary good this past season. The defense improved through the year, Alabama was playing many very young defensive players in covid year with less practice and were playing against a coach who knows Alabama's defensive tendencies especially in the secondary. They did play their best in some big games like 2nd half against Georgia and during the playoffs.
@bamaczar094 жыл бұрын
Alabama did look bad on defense. No doubt. But Ole Miss isn't getting enough credit for how good they are on offense. They are outstanding. Reminds me of Oklahoma in recent years. Incredible offense but horrible defense. Alabama has to play better. We're more talented than what was shown.

Mike Gottfried n the Kansas Hawks did this in '84 against the #2 Oklahoma. The new indoor facility was complete that week, plus Homecoming Week. Special teams went to field to practice, rest of the team practice inside. Special teams I believe had exactly 30 minutes then off to locker room at the stadium. A down burst came down exactly when leaving the field. Oklahoma n HC Switzer were on field when all this was going. Well long story short KU 24 OU 8. I know this to all be true I was the coach on the field before during n after the game.

Hard pill to swallow: If Nick Saban doesn’t change the scheme of his 3-4 Defense, Alabama won’t win another championship. It is no way Will Anderson is the only decent pass rusher we got. Play the freshman and other studs riding the bench because this way is obviously not working. This is Saban’s defense at the end of the day, not Pete Golding...

Tbh their record doesn't reflect how good they are, especially on offense. And given the covid circumstances and being Lane Kiffin's first year. They're going to get better. Yeah but the defense should’ve never been as bad as it had been with Pete. Never should’ve lost Drew Sanders (or completely wasted Demouy Kennedy’s 5 star potential at MLB) as when Turner takes that job you immediately tell Sanders he’ll still be getting playing time at OLB but will switch to MLB in offseason. You don’t start Moody over Lawson, don’t have a run defense not even ranked in the top 40 when it’s the exact same players that played both seasons before it with ‘21 being a top10 rush defense. Damon Payne(still young and played sparingly, but someone wasn’t getting the talent outta him/Tim Smith/Anderson/Turner, all 5 stars on the line with big ass Oatis in the middle. 🤦♂️

It’s a whole lot harder to stop the run and pass a against a QB that can move like Corral. Very smooth scrambler plus y’all need to remember Kiffin got to go against Saban everyday for 3years and that’s when we had a #1D every year so he knows things bout saban that no one else knows. Think about this Kiffin went against Kirby Smart,Jeremy Pruitt and Nick Saban everyday in practice so he’s got a hell of a good offensive mind! Roll Tide!
