Bambu Lab X1 Carbon First Cleaning

For the first routine cleaning, I decided to clean the lidar camera lens, clean the carbon rods, and clean and grease the Z rods. Good to go!

Tightening the belts is not just a matter of feel! You need to use a squaring tool to make sure that the gantry is squared up. People have made some jigs to help on Printables. If you try to tension the belts equally, you can end up with the motion system being slightly misaligned which will make VFA's and ringing artifacts much worse.

They say not to use cardboard because it will break off in small pieces and jam up in the feeder.

So far, nothing has broken off and no jams in the feeder. I will keep my eye on them...

I think this machine is pretty reliable. I belive based on what I'm seeing in reddit. There are a ton of people who have gotten in to printing. (this is great we need more people. However they didn't do much in the way of research. I think a large portion of issues is user error. Thank you for the video good info.

I’ve had one issue with the AMS and it was with a cardboard spool. I don’t know if the cardboard was to blame but it was enough to make me want to follow their recommendations. Otherwise though my machine has been flawless. I ordered last week of December and received second week of January. Awesome machine.

Seems to be every AMS is different, my AMS absolutely hates the cardboard spools. They constantly tangle for god knows what reason.

I hope the guys at Bambu are looking into it. A lot of filament comes in cardboard spools. And why is it so inconsistent?

well oficially, you're not supposed to use cardboard. You can print some rings for the spools to prevent the AMS tangling.

Print off the spools in the internal memory Wrap the filament on the cardboard spool with tape to hold it in place You can easily peel off the cardboard outer spools and inner Assemble the printed spools over the filament Remove the tape Bob's your uncle 👍

I am one of those guys you see bitching on forums well if you are on reddit. I am having weird problems all to frequently. I am about to switch over to a Voron because if I have to work on it constantly I might as well have somethng with a removeable enclosure and more user friendly on the maintenance side of things. Plus its about time to move to some high temp filaments.
