Can you image going to his show and being exposed to this instrument for the first time and just sitting there in awe. Its quite a magical thing to think of all the sounds from around the world that you may not know. I stumbled across one of his tiktok videos and now im here and hooked on this sound. Much praise! 😄
I love the Khaen! My childhood was full of traditional Thai music that my dad would play on and on so this sound is very familiar to me. It's very nostalgic and so, so beautiful!

I don't know how to call it, but this Khaen you can blow and suck the air it makes the same sound. So you can play continuously. Is that the same as a circular breathing?

Circular breathing is more like pushing out the remaining air in your mouth without using your lungs, while simultaneously breathing in through your nose.

In all fairness, when a khaen is made it’s made in a certain key. So to play a wide variety of chords you’d literally need multiple khaens.

I think the familiarity everyone seems to feel with this comes from organs and horn sections in modern music and a lot of what we grew up with. It has a similar feel and fills a similar musical space
