Hi Tammy and Chris! That's a beautiful pie! I'm ashamed to admit that in my 68 years on this earth I never knew that taking the seeds out of a banana would keep the slices from turning brown! Thank you so much for teaching me that and for the delicious looking recipe! Can't wait to make it! God bless you all and hugs, hugs hugs!!

Hi Tammy! This looks so yummy, I have to make it! There's something I wanted to ask you. My grandma used to make something for my granddaddy called "Johnny Cake." Have you heard of it, or know of it? My granddaddy was an immigrant from Austria and came to America through Ellis Island and he spoke Serbian at that time. He loved to eat all of his food in a bowl, I guess like the "old country," as he called it. It kind of looks like a corn bread type dish and he would eat it in a bowl with a little milk. He lived to be 100 years old. He was a devoted Christian and spent hours every morning studying his Bible. He used to call me his "Ginny Love," (in his broken English). I miss him so much. Prayers always to you and Chris. God Bless You 🙏

You won't believe it, but not to long after I asked you that question, I was picking up a package of Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix, and right on the side it tells how you can fix in a 8" square pan by doubling the recipe and it's called Johnny Cake. But, I remember you saying you didn't care for sweet cornbread, but it originated in South Carolina in the 1600's !! Googled it 🙏

I often double my recipe for banana cream pie and make it in a 9x13 cake pan. I slice in squares to serve or just scoop out. I use lots of heavy cream and sometimes cream cheese to make a very thick pudding. It’s a favorite of many of my guests. Always a great go to pie and so easy. I always make a homemade crust because I, personally, don’t care for the ready made crusts. I use whatever cookies I have on hand, butter, vanilla wafers, peanut butter or a mixture thereof. Or, I make a graham cracker crust. I generally use cookies, brown and white sugar, melted butter and finely chopped nuts. Nobody I know is allergic to nuts. Your pies are always so beautiful

I love your channel so much. Thank you for sharing your recipes. I PROMISE, I am not calling you old.... but you remind me so much of hanging out with my Grandma back in the 80's as she cooked. She was from Southern Ohio, and My Grandpa was from Virginia. Even though they lived in North Ohio, they were as Appalachian as anyone from McDowell Co WV. You say and do so many things like they did. You cook many of the same foods and with similar ingredients as Grandma. Keep up your great work and keeping an amazing part of American history alive.
