I'm 76 yrs old and grew up with my Mama making banana pudding. It was a frequent dessert to our Sunday dinner table. I watched her cook it over and over again. The thing with my Mama was that she NEVER measured anything. She dumped in the sugar and the flour and pinch of salt poured in the milk not measured and then added the beaten egg yolks of course she cooked it on top of the stove because when I was a little girl there was no microwaves. It always turned out perfect. I can make cooked banana pudding but I have to measure. Anyway this really made me think back to my sweet Mama making banana pudding. We liked it warm too by the way. Thanks Tamny.

Same here my mom never used a recipe I didn’t even know people used recipes her cooking was always good the banana pudding was my favorite she knew what to put in how to make it. It was always good. Just about a year ago my sister taught me how to make it no recipe just make it and it’s good too. Just seems my mamas was better.

@@edlusk1003 I agree, I believe that my Mother's banana pudding is better as well. They were no microwaves when I was growing up. I was born in 1958, there wasn't a microwave when I gave birth to my Son back in 1979 at least not one that I could afford to buy. I like the old fashion way however, it looks really pretty. I liked your marine, if you ever cook a chocolate meringue pie, that's a recipe I'm lookin' for. Happy cooking

My Grandma raised me and she never measured anything either. Everyone loved her cooking. I am 70 now and my Grandma is gone but I still remember her cooking and always miss her and her cooking. I try but I just can't cook like she did. This was back when there was no microwave or canned biscuits or anything. She got up early to cook me breakfast from scratch before I went to school. I sure miss her everyday!

Lord this lady is a genius, I have cooked banana pudding in every way possible and mostly failed 🥴 but this is the absolute BEST I've ever tried and perfected! My mom cannot cook like this lady and I'm black, I mean not that race matters but I thought my family members were the best cooks ever until I tried Mrs.Tammy's recipes now they're asking me "Where did you learn to cook like that"??? Lol Thank you so much for this channel and your time to share these amazing recipes

I got tickled reading your comment about 'not that race matters'. Black cooks overall are very good cooks. My mother (white :) ) was a downhome southern cook, and we 3 girls cook just like her. My mother always made banana pudding from scratch, and it was so good. I did try this one as I wasn't sure about the microwave turning out a good banana pudding, but it was indeed super!! CVC cooks just like my mother. I started following her several years ago.

The cream of tartar adds acid to the egg whites, helps increase the volume. If you don't have it, you can add a bit of lemon juice or vinegar.

OMG I have even deseeded the bananas. And take great pride in telling others how to do it. Im like your grandmother, lol. I cannot stand it when the banana turns dark! Its like something alive in the pudding lol. We had pudding left the next day and it was still delicious! I have made it for 2 ladies in my church and they were almost singing lol! I also take joy in sharing how to make the pudding in the MICROWAVE OVEN!!! as others tell me how they cook it on the stove. I tell them about Collard Valley Cooks! lol. Thanks for sharing and making a difference in our lives! I will probably buy the cookbooks later but It helps me to be able to see the video. I just made this banana pudding. it is sooo good! it tastes just like I stood over the stove and cooked it the "old-fashion" way. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe.
@judyh7774 жыл бұрын
I made this last week and it was fabulous! I was always jealous of cooks that made "old fashioned" banana pudding, but was afraid to try it myself. After watching this video, I used my microwave and it was not only delicious, but fast and pretty much foolproof, 'cause you're not gonna scorch it or overcook it. I also used your suggestion for using powdered sugar instead of granulated sugar for the meringue, and it didn't "weep" and made beautiful peaks. Needless to say, my banana pudding got more compliments than anything else I cooked for Christmas. Thank you, Tammy, for teaching this "old dog" a few new tricks!

Finally! Thank you Tammy for real Southern Banana Pudding! None of that Cool Whip, Eagle Brand condensed milk, Philadelphia cream cheese, different crackers, and Jello instant pudding combinations that I have seen on youtube!! Never seen such! And these are Southerners! Everybody is changing the traditional banana pudding of old. Except you!! 💛🍌 (We didn't put meringue on ours, but our neighbor did. Just crushed vanilla waffers on top. And cooked on the stove.) Instant box pudding is disgusting. No wonder everyone else has to doctor up theirs with extra ingredients!
