It's amazing when you first hear it as a kid you don't think much of it but when you hear it again the first time, What a difference you get to appeciate the song more. I find this to be the best song ever.

I was 18 when this song came out and just graduated HS. I remembered hearing the song on TV and thought it was a catchy tune. One day I turn on the radio in the car on to KRLA and KHJ in Los Angeles and it was playing right and left and was an overnight hit, at least in the LA area. Then just as fast as it became a hit, it disappeared. The same for a song named Quick Joey Small that made an overnight hit and then was gone. Great studio musicians on this one...
@louisb5563 Жыл бұрын
Wow, that's good to know. I thought it went completely under the radar and was just for the kiddies! At least KHJ & KRLA gave it airplay, still though...sad it didn't do better and get the radio airplay and traction it deserved. That proves that this was truly an underrated song. Wonder what might've happened if it wasn't associated with The Banana Splits 🤔

From Hanna-Barbera, via Varese Sarabande Records: It's Ritchie Adams' lead vocal; Adams and Mark Barkan do the backing vocals, with a studio band. H-B says Adams handled most of the Splits' vocals. He also contributed songs for the Archies and worked with that group after the Splits.

I must have heard this song a very long time ago, and it remained in the back of my head for eons, secretly influencing my taste in music, the closest thing I had to remembering it was remembering the time it was stuck in my head when I was a kid, and even then I don't remember where it came from. I wanted to watch the Banana Splits, because the show founded the roots of my personality, when I first heard it it took a few seconds for me to remember, but when I did, I felt like I found an old best friend

Still have the original Decca 45 from '69 in mono here. Nice to hear the stereo mix, as I could not find the LP then ( I have it now, along with a CD with this track). This should have been a hit; the songs were far above the average Saturday morning stuff, and occasionally they'd get a chance to do more 'mature' material. Supposedly, songwriters Ritchie Adams and Mark Barkan do the vocals here; Gene Pitney was still under contract at Musicor at the time, Al Kooper was on Columbia, recording with the first Blood, Sweat and Tears, and Joey Levine was under contract at Buddah, so it's not likely they were allowed to perform. Barry White was still three years shy of forming Love Unlimited, not signed as far as I can tell, but his vocals would be unmistakable..

For being a "throwaway" song, this is magnificent. Had it been done by a "serious" artist, it probably would have charted, and become a classic, resulting in countless cover bands keeping it alive. Alas, it is an obscurity, but it's a golden one, and I hereby pledge to bring it to new audiences (if I can get my cover band to cooperate). I've already got a medley of it and No Doubt's "Hey You" in my head.

SJYNYC asks "Anyone remember a song called "Bouncing, Bouncing, Bouncing"... I think it was a song from the Harlem Globetrotter's cartoon?" Yes, that would be "Bouncing All Over The World." You are correct that it was the Globetrotters, 1970. Neil Sedaka wrote the song (and several other songs on the album). Great song.

After two months of research I found out who the studio singers were, and it surprised me. The musical voices for the Bananna splits were none other than: Joey Levine; Al Kooper; Barry White; and Gene Pitney. All well known in the 60s for their own works. I was way off base thinking Ron Dante (The Archies).

I often shake my head and ask the same question, and the crap they have on Television these days and then they wonder where Kids are getting these ideas from, it's just enough to make you break down and cry sometimes. I myself grew up in the Eighties, being born in 72, and have shown my Kids this show and they love it. There was defiantly an attempt to capture a little of the Monkees magic and apply it to the Banana splits the Lion was kinda the Nesmith Bingo was of course Micky the Elephant was Peter Flegal was obviously the leader kind of a mix of Moe Howard,Groucho Marx and again Mike Nesmith I guess they didn't want a Davy Jones.
