I’m going to just start releasing these “inspired by” songs on the Banana Labs Spotify because why not. open.spotify.com/album/37jZ2ANKU6VMh2XSj4iDak?si=Wia07AR9TYW9lua9PGpCng

I am also a Focusrite fan. I owned the 3rd generation 4i4 and now the 4th generation 4i4. The 4th gen was a step up, I admit. Anyway, that bass was perfect. I really think it's the bass that makes up a lot of the Post Punk sound. Well done.
@bananalabs19 күн бұрын
Awesome. The 4th Gen is an upgrade for sure! Did you have any trouble installing the driver to your computer?? I did :/ But I eventually figured it out. Yes, agreed! Bass does play a huge part in post punk.

@bananalabs , I didn't have any trouble, because the first thing I uninstall is MacAfee. 😉

I appreciate you prefacing the video with saying that this is your interpretation of post punk. I've seen a lot of creators claim this is how post punk is made while it is essentially a tiny fraction of a huge confusing mess of genre that in reality is just a combination of countless genres that came before it. Love the song you made! Would be very curious if you could do something inspired by Devo, Talking Heads or early PIL, would love to see you tackle some of the weirder sides of post punk
@bananalabs18 күн бұрын
Yeah absolutely! Totally agree. I try to be careful with the words I use because I know people like to come after me about that sometimes. I appreciate your support! Yeah that’d be a good challenge for me. I’ll consider those artists and see which one is less out of my reach. Thanks for the suggestions!

@ I’m waiting for a Danelectro to be shipped to me now. I had been looking for a J Mascis Telecaster, but decided to get the Danelectro 59’ Triple Divine in Black. It was just too good looking to me and sounds unlike anything else I have now.

I say work with what you have! Always. And if you don’t have a chorus pedal then you have no business playing post punk (just kidding) :)

We understand post punk very differently. I think of Fugazi and Sonic Youth, you think of Soft Kill and such. Post punk should be immediately the genre created after punk not years later
@bananalabs15 күн бұрын
Exactly. Which is why I stated in the beginning of the video that this was my interpretation of writing a post punk inspired song. This is definitely the only way.
