@Oliver_B Depends on the technique? If it's fast alternate picked scale runs, then I think Chappers would have more in that department. If you're talking about a more complete player sort of thing, then it's Pete. They're both very accomplished players.. A younger me would have preferred Rob's playing over Pete's, nowadays I connect more with Pete's playing. It's all subjective at the end of the day.

Supposedly that’s the story of the Beatles. Back in the Hamburg days, the Beatles needed a bassist and got ahold of a lefty bass, and Paul was the only lefty so he took it up, despite being the naturally gifted guitarist in the band. John was musical but still needed Paul to teach him guitar and he was the rhythm player. George wasn’t naturally gifted musical abilities either, his family talked about how younger George would sit around for hours listening to his favorite records trying to learn them, and that his ear just didn’t naturally pick up the sound. But I’d say it worked out for them in the long run.

I was really looking forward to this one, since the teaser image on the Captain’s Facebook page. But I was a little disappointed about how condescending it felt toward the gear. Really came across as if everyone was making fun of it, instead of appreciating it for the fact you outfitted a complete jam band for $1000. Right down to Rob’s, “It sounded...ok.” at the very end. Bet if you got a group of School of Rock kids in there with a promise they could take the rigs home, you’d get some serious enthusiasm.

We're hearing the recorded and mixed end product, remember that. Would have been very different in the room. In saying that I think it's a really impressive result that shows how good cheap gear can be.

I get that. It could have sounded different in the room. But the entire video had people almost making fun of the gear. So we get told that EastCoast guitars are great starter rigs for the money, but then have a bunch of people making fun of them. I know everyone there is used to much better gear than that, but I wonder if any kids wanting their first guitar saw that video and came away thinking the guitars were crap.

@@BobCrosley Hi Bob. With respect I think you might have missed the point. At the end of the video they all agreed how good the gear was for the money. Lee said it sounded great, Rob said the amps were louder than he thought and Lee thought that on the clean channel with a distortion pedal the amps were mint. Pete also thought it sounded good. I didn't get the 'making fun of the gear' vibe at all.The derogatory comments and faces were for just for comedy effect I reckon and I think they proved that low cost gear, as a starting out point can be fab.
