I can see that Orange tiny amp getting flung across the stage when you trip on your cable.
@zuksam75689 жыл бұрын
jimmypinch You'd really need to bolt it down either to your pedal board or to the speaker cab. The Tiny Terror sounds great but it's a one trick pony (one sound) and as this video shows it really isn't loud enough to play with a band on stage (in this video the drummer was trying very hard to play softly). The tiny terror would be nice as a practice head so you wouldn't have to replace the tubes in your 50-100 watt tube head as often but there are a lot of better choices in 150-300 dollar combo amps.
@jimmypinch9 жыл бұрын

zuksam To be honest, my friend played in O2 arena and filled it completly with his micro terror plugged into a 4x12 marshal cab, it looked ridiculous standing next to a huge mesa rectified stacks next to it from the other band. But the sound was incredible and loud enough for the whole of O2 :)
@jimmypinch9 жыл бұрын
Even Billy Gibbons uses a tiny amp, but it's hidden around the back! lol
@zuksam75689 жыл бұрын
jimmypinch I'm sure Billy's amp is miked then run through the PA but so are most bands these days no matter how big or small their amps are, it doesn't matter if your amp is 5watts or 200 if it's miked through a PA. It's all about sound quality and everything gets run through the sound booth and the sound guy runs the mixer like an extra band member to keep the levels correct. He turns mics, guitars, bass, or drums volume up or down on the fly to match the other instruments to best replicate the sound of the studio recordings that the fans are used to, in a large venue a good sound guy who knows the songs as well as the band does is the difference between sounding like crap or sounding awesome.

This should be completely doable, including PA. Cheap mics and mixers get a bad rep, but as someone who has done sound for small gigs at dodgy clubs with the cheapest Chinese gear a million times I can say: You can get pretty decent sound out of almost anything. Speakers need to be decent, but the rest can be the cheapest stuff available and you'll still get a reasonably good sound if you have a tech that knows their stuff. Might even have enough cash left to throw in a wedge so the vocalist can actually hear their own voice. (Oh and if you go second hand... There is so much decent old gear for cheap now that you could probably get a very reasonable setup for half that.)
@Durandalski6 жыл бұрын
This is absolutely the best Andertons video. It got me hooked on you guys when I first started playing. Its a fun practical challenge. They look at lots of different guitars and amps, and they achieve good results in two completely different ways. I knew nothing about guitars beyond my beginner guitar and practice amp. This video opened the door to the hobby for me. Would love to see a redux or more like it.

I tell you what, I love coming back to this and hearing Rabea's drumming. Because it's fantastic. He's great! I already knew he could play the drums, but it's just refreshing hearing him play in this video, because the playing at the end is very stripped back; both the guitar and drums are kind of stripped back, but it really brings out the beauty in their playing, simple as it is, and it's really inspiring. Makes me want to drum again. Love you Chappers, Captain, and Bea.

I just did this challenge again, "shopping" _online_ and was damn pleased with the results! I "scored" a Bugera 6262 2x12 combo amp, with 120 watts of *tube* power for *$279.99!* That left quite a bit for a cheap guitar and I chose an ESP LTD Viper-100FM Electric Guitar See-Thru Black, basically a black ESP "SG," for *$299!* This put me at a total of USD $578.99 so I'd probably go about $60 over budget by buying a nice Delay Pedal- a Boss DD-3 for $129. (Or if I *absolutely* couldn't go over budget, I'd get a Behringer Delay pedal or similar, for like $40.) I have better gear than this in real life, but this was still fun!!!

Great challenge, nice to see a bit of creativity and free form. I did think though that the Squier and Blackstar sounded better than the Kelly/ Orange combo, so Cap wins the challenge in my humble opinion. Shay be cray cray tho.... Nice to see more of these videos where it's a challenge, you could do themed videos where the challenge is to create the best amp guitar combo for different music genres. Metal mashups, smooth blues battles, funky funk face-offs, rock'n'roll riots, acoustic....errrrr attacks? etc. etc. I love seeing you guys showcase guitars that people can afford, for example I prefer the videos where the guitar is usually under a grand, because that to me is the line for acceptable prices before reaching into "something special" territory. There are so many high end guitars that are not necessarily custom shop build level but higher tier than the mid range guitars. It would be great to see some of them showcased as well. Great video as always, allowances for creativity and fun face-offs, who doesn't like a bit of competition now and then? Rock on!

If I had to do this challenge, I'd go with: Epiphone Les Paul Jr. ($130) Orange Crush 35 watt combo amp ($250) And a CryBaby ($80)

I am envious, stuff is so cheap where you live.

couchcamper Don't be afraid to shop around online to find some good deals just make sure you do your research on what you're buying and who you're buying it from.

xBleuGuyx Can not agree more. Even with my small amount of experience u did manage to knock off around 100 quid from an epiphone lp custom pro.
@rabbitspliff8 жыл бұрын
Even if it's more expensive over here, that combination from Anderton's according to their website... they don't have Epi LP Jr.'s, but you could get an Epi LP Special VE, with the Orange Crush and Crybaby, and still be £100 below budget for this challenge.
@timkleinbussink38208 жыл бұрын
Will York Music thats a good rig but i should swap out the epiphone les paul j with an les paul special two

Awesome! Chappers even manages to get Jim Kelly and Enter the Dragon into his quest :D respect! \m/ £500 is a great starting budget, it's all I had a few years back to start with. Peavey was my weapon of choice back then as a bass player. Still have both the amp and bass, they've served me well in many a pub gig and open mike night :D It's never been a better time for a budget like this. So much cool stuff around now as well as classic rigs, when you're budget grows.

I really enjoyed listening to you guys just jam at the end of the video. You should do that more often, like if you ever just get together and jam in your free time, pull out a camera and post the result. I'd watch the shit out of that.

This one and the customized guitar challenge were awesome! Must have been a ton of fun to make! I really like these budget challenges that force you to be creative with limited resources, because it's what a lot of us probably have to do!

40 mins of my life Totally NOT Wasted. Andertons video of the year so far, would just just like to know did you crank both amps to max at the end (best Lee and Chappers jam so far too awesome). Hard to tell on youtube but still sounded bloody amazing.

The Tiny Terror was cranked all the way up - the Blackstar was about half way up at the beginning & 2/3 the way up at the end!

Ok, I'm going to make some enemies here. Solid state amps can sound really good.
@samuelwaydark80519 жыл бұрын
Meh, we have our opinions. I agree with you, though.
@terran2369 жыл бұрын
+Friek555 agreed, the crush pro is a good example. As fluff (ryan bruce) said solid states sound shit most of the time because of the shitty speakers they are paired with. Simply because they [people] expect solid states to be cheap. So its a vicious circle.
@Wren69919 жыл бұрын
+Friek555 I totally agree. A lot of the mythology surrounding tube amplifiers stems from A. comparing expensive tube amps to cheap solid states and B. compare using different speakers. That's how we ended up with the "tube watts are louder than transistor watts" nonsense
@hellNo1169 жыл бұрын
they can and they do. however that's for live as they said in the video. what valves have going for them is higher volume with no distortion. that what the gave you. also the tone is sth to take into consideration especially for records
