Band BIO:
The band formed in July 2013. Singer/guitarist Miku Kobato, formerly an employee of a Japanese maid café, envisioned forming a band that juxtaposed the maid image with rock music. Kobato recruited lead guitarist Kanami Tōno after an Internet search. Tōno had performed as a singer-songwriter and suggested her occasional backing drummer Akane Hirose for the new band. Hirose in turn suggested bassist Misa, with whom she had attended music school. On July 24, 2013 they had their first live performance at the PP Audition held at Osaka Deep, as a quartet with Kobato on vocals. The band then decided to recruit an additional lead singer and selected Saiki Atsumi during auditions. Their first performance as a five-piece was at the P Festival at Shibuya-AX on August 22, 2013.

- Misa loves to drink. She loves it so much she even carries her own hip flask that she uses to drink during concerts
- Kanami has quite the girl crush on Saiki, even going so far as having her as her screensaver on her phone
- One of Band-Maid's dreams is to have their music used in anime, and if it was to be used in an anime, Miku would want the anime to be Bleach, Kanami wants Tokyo Ghoul and Saiki would want it to be Detective Conan.

Fun fact: on the DVD in my Unseen World package the first video features Miku playing her signature guitar over this track as a KZbin bedroom musician, all shot from her chin down; a bit like Fami on bass guitar and others. More proof of the quirky humour of all of B-M, but especially Miku.

@@dicodec I can't believe that I forgot to mention this (in case someone else didn't tell you): This video was actually filmed in one of the two cafes that Miku worked at in the early days of Band-Maid. Go back to the opening frame of the video (in the Cafe); on the wall to the left of the maid-waitress you can see the name of the cafe: "@Home Cafe" (The other cafe was called "Noodol Cafe"; the name being a mash-up of "noodle" and "idol".) SERIOUSLY, if you guys joined the "Band-Maid Fans USA" group on FB, you would already know all of that.😉 BTW, you should add Band-Maid INTERVIEWS to your reactions. There are a few that have English subtitles; start with the two-part "Band-Maid Music Gold Rush" interview. They did this interview to coincide with the release of "Alone", which was their first fully independent song.

This was filmed at the Maid Cafe Miku used to work at. Also, did you catch the picture on wall in beginning of video, girl sitting down is believed to be Miku although it's a bit blurry to say for sure. But it certainly does look like her and would make sense since she used to work at the cafe.

After Life Arbitrary Interpretation There is a sign @ home-cafe on the wall inside the store. This is a maid cafe where Kobato worked. The main store is up to the 7th floor, and there are branches in Akihabara and Osaka. It's like a Donki cafe that she worked. There is a photo of the maid on the wall, and there is a rumor that there is Kobato. Arbitrary side story interpretation ... The Maid with the red ribbon is Kobato, and the blue ribbon is Kanami instead of Saiki. She is watching Saiki with cell phone. The yellow ribbon is Akane who likes bananas, the cleaning lady is Misa, and she has shoes. The manager is the last to appear. In Saiki, the final decision-maker? Everyone gathers in this order and is infected with Hard Rock. At the end, everyone dances together and ends ... It's an arbitrary interpretation. This is a video that can be considered in various ways. I am looking forward to next week video too.

If you guys want to see how they play After Life and other songs from the album, you should purchase their Blu-Ray Limited Edition of the Album which includes a disc with instrumental videos of After Life, NO GOD, Giovanni, and Without Holding Back with each member (except Saiki) solo shots on how they play their songs. Some of them are uploaded in youtube but they are gonna be hit with copyrights soon.

@@dicodec yup. Miku recently said that she feels her alcohol tolerance has got worse nowadays compared to when band-maid just started. Yet, Miku is still the strongest drinker in the band. During the fan club radio, the members talked about how Miku never reaches her limit with the girls because they will all be knocked out before that and she has to pick up the pieces.

Yeah & the funny thing is, she is the tiniest of them all! She is even shorter than Kanami without her heels, 5'0" while Kanami is 5'1" IIRC... MISA is 5'7-8". Girl must of done some SERIOUS partying in her time to build up that tolerance! 🍶🍺🍻😆
