I just realized on my 12th or so listen that that badass walk up riff that makes up the second part of the chorus is a callback to what MISA is doing at end of that crazy main riff. This is like what they did with Wonderland - took one musical motif and used it a variety of ways. I loooooove that they're taking their music to the next level like this. It's not that their songs ever sounded like cool pieces glued together, far from it, but this is the kind of songwriting skill that lets them get away with crazy shit like this and have it sound like it was all part of a plan. I'm so stoked for the new album.

I've heard countless songs by countless bands all using some variation of that fast beat, to varying degrees of effectiveness. Akane takes that beat and practically makes it her own through sheer force in this song. It is next-level POWERFUL when she does it.

I'm late but just wanted to mention that akane's drumming in the second half of the chorus is truly amazing. It is a traditional folk dance, which was also used by classical composers. The most famous tunes are Hungarian Dance No.5 in G Minor by Johannes Brahms: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nGa4eKCiiLyEj9U and Csárdás - Vittorio Monti (Violin & Piano): kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4G8eaxuoJ6NaZY. A couple of guys have commented that is a resource used by Bach in his Toccata and Fugue in Re Minor. Fast rythm in one hand, notes at 1/8 rythm in the other. I wouldn't be surprised, this is Japan. In some Unlucky Morpheus songs you can find classical music resources in their violin arrangements. But of course, they use a violin. The really exciting thing about this arrangement on this song is that Kanami does it all with ONE ELECTRIC GUITAR.

YEEES I was waiting for this reaction! EDIT: Now that I've seen the video, I commented the same on another reaction, I think there's only one song that has a similar "chaotic" riff, and that's 'Screaming', is a pretty old song (from their first single I think). I just can't WAIT to see this song played live, specially with the amount of Miku vocals the song have, on live performances her voice stands up a lot more. And if this is not a show opener, I don't know what it is. And yeah, Akane was, is, and it's going to be an absolute beast on those drums (and she's rocking a longer hair, that is... y'know... hot. Yeah they are incapable to disappoint :) You know what? It's different, yes, but at the same time, no, not really. Listen to "Screaming" and "Dilemma", this right here is like the chaotic little kid of those two. Awesome song! Love it! And boy does it stuck in my head but ... listen to the two mentioned above :) (I am a sucker for punk and ska anyway) And guess what... They released their "Don't be long" instrumental as the supporting song on "Different"-Single. They played it on the last US tour, and finally released it officially. And the best part - they actually perfected it! It's polished, sounds sooooo good! (it's pretty much normal at this point that their "B-sides" are even better...) BTW Miku can write "PaPaPa" all she wants - all we hear (and read) is "Po! Po! Po!" :D PS: this is their last song with "Revolver Record". They are changing the label. "Different" won't be on their next upcoming album (january). It's also a song made as the opening for the anime "Log Horizon"

You might find this interesting even if you don't do a reaction video. Miku and Kanami talk about this song and more. Something I found really interesting is that Kanami said that she wrote "Don't Be Long" (the b-side instrumental that was released with "Different") in a way that would help Miku learn how to play "Different." Apparently, "Different" requires Miku to do some things she had never done before. The closed captioning is in English so you can follow the conversation. A very cool look into Band-Maid. @

There isn't a video, but it is on the last live blu-ray (song three). The "b-side" of this (don't be Long) is spectacular too. Easily the equal of this, but instrumental. Akane, Drums (Tokyo School of Music Grad) plus at least 6 other instruments, sent reply "This is HARD". In this recording Kanami plays both lead and rhythm guitar and wrote the B side to this single, an instrumental which is AWESOME, so Miku could practice her Diminished 7th chords at speed so She could perfom it live!
