I have been a Band-Maid fan for a good while now and their songs still feel fresh to me. For me it is hard to describe in some ways. For instance, yes they sound like a hard rock band, but yet, not a hard rock band like I used to know growing up. There are things that they do that other bands have done in the past, yet to me they sound completely different. They have been able to meld the best parts of rock into something all their own. They obviously cross genres, which is sort of unique, but are able to make it sound perfectly in place. Their transitions have become incredible. So smooth, looking and sounding effortless, yet we know that it is not the case. I think to get to this level you have to be really talented, work real hard, be capable of learning and be able to incorporate what you have learned into making yourself and band mates even better. You have to love what you are doing and have care for your other band mates, creating a close knit well oiled machine. And of course, with this band, you have to be having FUN doing it. Whenever I think of the Band-Maid sound, I always think it "Swings". A crazy thing to think I guess, but, for me it separates them from others. Of course it Rocks, it's amazing, it's stunning. It's dependable, it's impressive...etc. But I always come back to it Swings. Meh, I ramble again. Anyway nice reaction!

I'm surprised that with as many BAND-MAID reactions as you've done, that you would describe them as a Heavy Metal band. Most fans would consider them to be in the Hard Rock genre, and they are self described as "~An impossibly hard rocking maid band~". Sure, they incorporate some metalish riffs, but there's also some punk, some funk, and a lot of pop influences in their sound. NOTE: Never mind, I just got to the minute and a half mark on your reaction. : ) BTW, MISA's biggest influence is Paz Lenchantin, who has been with The Pixies, Queens of the Stone Age, etc. She also played barefoot a lot of the time. : ) I very much agree with you about the timeless quallity. BAND-MAID are like a super group you never heard of from a few decades ago. Miku describes the contrast between the heavy sound and their look (plus her talk) as "The Gap". It can definitely catch people off guard, and it helps them stand out in the very competitive (and high talent) Japanese music scene.
@sacluvsBM4 жыл бұрын
So very well said. That gap always permeates just about everything this band does (and stands for). As l admitted earlier l am guilty myself of breaking the first Band-Maid commandment: thou shalt not assume a damned thing. I was writing that small pigeon was 811 years old. And that's because l assumed pigeon would age. My assumption was wrong. Pigeon is 810 forever. See what assuming will do? ;-)

@@sukatijakkoya8212 that is a fact. And l am happy with the Maidiac label for the Band-Maid community. Even 4 years later it is still extensively reacted on. This was the last one song of a marathon concert lasting 2 hours or so and still left an incredible sense of freshness! This video is specially endearing because it shows their sublime cuteness, modesty, showmanship and love for their fans! As you said, taking a bow, Misa brandishing her guitar in a very rare show from her, Saiki walking away proud and shy, Miku taking the time to salute everyone and Kanami and Akane throwing their picks and sticks into a delirious crowd! What more can you ask! 4 years later in 2022 they have only scratched their true potential! What do they hold in store for us especially with a Us Tour announced for the second part of this year. The cancelled Budokan concert which should be held year will break records! Never-ending bliss! Looking forward to your other reactions, mate! Best regards, Robert-Gilles

Ehhh yes, there´s an interesting dichotomy but only partially from the western point of view. Japan in literally another country. Not only geographically but also culturally. In western country, a lot of woman thinks (it´s their opinion) that equality is "all must be the same" and a lot thinks that behave in a "macho way" is a form of equality Japan is a country were equality sadly have in most aspects a "way to go" but there´s one tradition: women must be "feminine". They do partially because of this, but also because in Japan the "kawaii" it´s a desirable condition for women. Even you can find in a lot of places where a woman is attending at the public or even talking with coworkers that they spoke in ... well, it´s difficult to explain. Something between a childish way and a "cute" way. Even the tone is different. Even "strong women" like to dress and behave in a feminine way. They think "i´m a woman so i don´t need to behave like a man" Maybe a little strange from a western point of view, but it´s their culture so... This way you can find women even en metal bands wearing pink and cute dresses while playing like crazy. I´n not sure i a suggest this sometime, but this can be a nive reaction. Try Aldious (another all female band, power metal) and this theme. Not only they are pretty good, also the video is very fun to see kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpiraWCkpdZrbLs You already see dominator, this track is even more fun
