Their ability to do call&response stuff is unique especially because Misa can play literally anything. You can find quite a few bands that have brilliant guitarists, drummers, singers. But bass players who can carry whole songs are very rare. Play is, I think, one of their first songs where they completely swap the traditional roles of the guitars and the bass for a full verse - bass is playing the melody, guitars are doing percussion. Since then, Miku improved a lot on the rhythm guitar, so there is even more room for this in the most recent songs. Up to the point of having the bass and the lead guitar playing seemingly unrelated meandering melodies over each other, only to come together when it is most effective. Most bands can't do that even if they wanted.

"Choose Me" -- a song featured in the Netflix original movie "KATE" as BAND MAID, has so many great RnR chops, it's kinda unbelievable. From Saiki's old-school phrasing, cadence and a super soulful vocal at the end; MISA's driving bass, her special riff after Kanami's brilliant, rocking main solo (complete with harmonic pinch), and her pulls at the end of the song that really funks it up with Akane's drumming; to Kanami's original composition, off-beat octave stretches during the verses, and her addition of a second uncomplicated yet super tasty solo; to Akane's unique snare & tom flurry that launches the choruses; and to Miku's octave-down, in & out vocal backup and lyrics... all makes "Choose Me" a throwback rocker that surprised me when I first heard it - and I'll bet most anyone - that they would come up with this western-style, rock 'n roll classic. Of course, after years later, it's not surprising at all coming from this important band of geniuses who are almost single-handedly bringing back the joys and soulfulness of rock for people from all places and ages to hear. Here's a great, better studio mixed MV of "Choose Me" that's more punchy: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4use2Wse92ob7s Thx, Cheez!

Thank you for all the wonderful reaction videos. These reactions show that they have achieved their biggest goal: to make people smile by watching their performances and LIVE. Music(音楽), written in Japanese, means "enjoying the sound." BAND-MAID believes that unlike just rock and pop music, BAND-MAID is a one-of-a-kind music genre that people can share, enjoy themselves, seek new ways to enjoy, challenge themselves, and get excited together. Entertaining people, sometimes encouraging them, cheering them up, and cuddling with them may be the origin of music. Please continue to have fun and keep making videos. Cheezy mate! Greetings on another cold, crispy sunny day under a white Mount Fuji! Interestingly enough these tapes are already 4 years old and they have perfected their shows even more! Now, there is a big difference between live concerts held in Japan and the ones held during overseas tours. The Japanese live concerts are longer with 22~24 songs, although they seem to vary recently and include less "magic times with the audience" interludes. On the other hand, live concerts in Japan often feature longer songs with longer solos like in Play, and especially "Don't You Tell me" (a must reaction with Turn Me On and Take Me Higher!). An exception is No God which featured an added long instrumental introduction during their recent US tour gigs. Superb reaction as usual! Do not forget Daydreaming live official video!
