There have been a few underappreciated back up vocalist that have been very important to the overall bands that they are in Michael Anthony from Van Halen had some killer high harmony vocals that really added to VH overall sound. Miku is phenomenal with her power harmonies that really push many Band Maid songs over the top. And I always look forward to one of her solo songs on albums and especially live.

Each and every one of these nutty, beautiful women are beyond tallented. More charisma than any other band I have seen in my 60 years of listening to music. But to me, Pigeon seems to be the gel binding them together. Love her so much.

The thing about Miku is that everyone sees her as the goofball, dominating interviews and being the main speaker for the band. It's all got to do with personality. Miku is an extrovert extraordinaire and just has that knack for putting people at ease and putting them under her spells, lol. If you look at the rest of the band, I would say that they are all introverted to varying degrees, though the minute Kanami gets on the stage, it's like another personality takes over. But as they have been together and gotten more exposure to their fans, especially outside of Japan, they have become much more confident in their live performances and it really shows. I think Saiki has progressed the most in being more comfortable in her frontwoman persona. But in the end, it all comes down to Miku. She is a born showman and has had the drive and intelligence to take her dream and make it a reality. Look at the work she has put in learning to play the guitar at a very proficient level. It also helped hugely to have Kanami as her sensei. But the most serendipitous part is that each member of the band is almost like part of a hive mind, where they all know what each of them can and will do. This is very rare in the music world given the generally volatile nature of artists. In a way they remind me of SCANDAL, where Haruna, Tomo, Mami and Rina have been together for 17 years, since high school, and are still putting their best forward. Stereopony was very similar that way in how close the band members were, right up until the end. I believe that this is where we will see Band-Maid in the future and have that same kind of lengthy career. The two key points for success are Kanami's musical genius in composition and Miku's genius in the social end of the spectrum. At first it was just Miku and Omajinai Time, then came Saiki and Kanami's Japanese Lesson and asking questions of the crowd. Then we have Misa's Opening Ceremony and Akane's Gorilla and banana peel fame. It all came together as they grew into their roles in a way that has permanently endeared them to their fans. Sorry for being so wordy, I kind of got carried away.

And let's also remember how much Venus Gaijin has had an impact on all of us, keeping everyone who is subscribed in the loop and putting together these great videos with all the little things that fans would not ordinarily know. #1 the band is Miku's concept both in look and the music style they play. Kanami was singing on the videos she was making, some with Akane, before Band Maid but she didn't want to sing on stage. So meeting Miku allowed her create her music with someone to write the lyrics and sing. One of the best song writing teams I'v ever heard,

I saw Miku yesterday on my first time okyuji ! That was at Kyoto Japan was amazing show I was soooo excited! And I really realize MIku is the heart of Band-Maid, No Miku No Band-Maid. Miku the big heart!

Misa was born in Okayama. When she moved to the big city the other kids in school would make fun of her accent, so she got into the habit of not speaking very much. Her English is quite weak also. But I think she is gradually coming out of her shell. ❤️🥷

For me it's that Miku playing give the freedom for Kanami to play what Kanami does. Without Miku, Kanami would have to play in a different style. Yes you could get someone else, but Muki has been taught to play by Kanami, so the 2 jell together so well.

"Backing voca;s" is a term that never really describes it, re Miku. It seems her vocals can provide a platform, a foundation, ...but then a decoration,or a contrast or context... ,the sauce.the pepper...her voice can comtribute in all these ways ! Saiki-plus-Miku is a complex instrument itself ! But if one facet most stands out,to me, it's her deep and intriguing intelligence--always it is so charming when the camera happens to catch her looking to the far distance...it makes you want to know her thoughts...............
