Band Maid has gotten much better since this MV. Biggest reason is they started recording their own music, which without any insult to the songs management was giving them, is a magnitude better. Secondly, the mark of a great band is to put on a great live performance. And that they do. Currently, the best example is the live performance of HATE?, Previously it was the live of Domination. But if you want a kick ass MV, try Warning, or Influencer.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Band-Maid. Solos in Rock/Metal never went away...they just moved to Japan! Band-Maid has very few songs without a solo. Some of them are short and sweet...and have you begging for more. But one thing you'll learn about Band-Maid...it's all about what serves the song. No egos in this band, as it's all about making great music for their Masters and Princesses (what the Maids call their fans). They are on their 11th year and with their original line up and have 130+ amazing songs. They just dropped their latest album and their last ZEPP tour in Japan, they included all 14 songs from their album in their 22 song setlists. Not many bands can play their entire new album and have their fans raving about their show. That's Band-Maid...they just reload. FYI...How talented are the members of Band-Maid? They are respected in the music industry...check out how they are endorsed. Kanami, the lead guitarist just got her limited signature model PRS guitar. First guitarist from Japan to be given a PRS signature model. Just shows the respect Mr. Paul Reed Smith has for Kanami, the guitarist and main composer of the music of Band-Maid. Mr. PRS actually flew to Japan to hand her signature guitar to Kanami in person. What an honor for her. There are 9 signature artist from PRS, including the likes of Carlos Santana, David Grissom John Mayer, etc. Miku, the rhythm guitarist, backing vocals, lead vocals, main lyricist, main spokes pigeon and band founder, also has a signature guitar. She's endorsed by Zemaitis guitars and her signature model is called "The Flappy Pigeon". MISA has a signature bass and many custom basses from Black Cloud Guitars. The Black Smoker TM BETA - JMB5 MISA is her signature model. Akane has signature sticks from Wincet. And is endorsed by both Tama Drums and Zildjian.

Great reaction Dad. I am in my seventies and I only listened to my old roch/metal music because music today sucks, but then I found Band Maid. These women are phenonenal and I finally have great music again. I am with you "bring back guitar solos". This song is early Band Maid and they get so much better. If you want some serious solos, I suggest "Hate?" from their Tokyo live concert in November 2023. Then we can talk solos. Thanks Dad, I loved your reaction and have decided to subscribe with you.

Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. While they don't class themselves as a metal band, they don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog mayhem to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 12th year with the original line up. And they are the best live band I have ever witnessed! Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal).

I agree. I thought great rock music had to have a guitar solo until I found her. Kanami. The genius composer and lead guitarist of Band-Maid. They're a hard rock band but sometimes their songs don't have a guitar solo. Sometimes we feel it's too short. Sometimes, she plays a solo for the whole song. Either way, she plays something that you'll never forget. Enjoy their 'distinctive' sound🤘

Welcome Home, Dad Jams!!🕊️ Congratulations on improving your life today! Finding the Maids can be a life-changing experience of pure JOY! 🤩 The Maids are a remarkable collection of extraordinarily talented musicians who excel at every aspect of modern Rock music creation: Composition, Arrangement, Songwriting, Orchestration, Instrumentation, Recording, Production, Playing and Performance. If you stick with the journey, you’ll see it’s true. BAND-MAID pulls in fans from all rock genres - pop-punk, emo, modern rock, classic rock, grunge, heavy metal; because the Maids are so talented and versatile with songs using elements of every rock style and genre imaginable! Many of their biggest fans are folks who grew up with Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, RUSH, YES, The Who, Santana, Toto, Steely Dan, Metallica, etc….and we find many of the high-level musical qualities in the Maids and their music. We like to say the Maids are their own genre. They are in fact on the (back) cover of the Japanese Rolling Stone magazine this month. They have a goal of (peaceful) World Domination through music; and are on their way. They’ve toured Europe and North America before; they’ve stayed in Japan for 2024, but expect them to make a tour stop near you in 2025! As for more songs; 😂. It’s a bit of a joke with us Masters & Princesses (or Maidiacs, if you prefer), because, literally, the Maids are probably the single most PROLIFIC band at writing great song after great song - EVER. No kidding. They have 130+ songs across the rock music genre spectrum - we say they are their own genre. 🤷🏻♂️ Seriously, I’m not kidding - you’ll easily get 50-75 different song suggestions from 10 different people. And there’s a saying in the community; “Your favorite Band-Maid song is the next one you listen to.” 🤷🏻♂️ My contributions for the next song on your journey down the Band-Maid “Pigeon Hole” (😂) cover a diverse set of songs. First, you must see these recent live releases starting with - “Hate?” - OLV - true guitar/bass EPIC-NESS! 🔥 Then - Magie” - OLV - from new album - “Don’t You Tell Me” - OLV - “Unleash!!!!!” - OLV And finally the Show closer (tears 😭) - “Endless Story” - OLV Then dozens & dozens more… They just released a new album “Epic Narratives” that’s absolutely glorious! Their most recent release from it is a real Thrill Ride (pun intended), with lots of different motifs in the song (Jazz-Maid?) You should check it out soon: - “Forbidden Tale” - OMV High energy Anime songs from new Epic Narratives album? - “Shambles” - OMV - “Protect You” - OMV More Classic Rock style - “Manners” - OMV - Then, “Manners / Black Hole” - official online live video - HOW, just HOW?!! - “Dice” - OMV - “Turn Me On” - OLV - “Moratorium” - OLV - Puzzle - OLV Did you say instrumentals? - “From Now On” - OMV - “Onset” - OLV - “Without Holding Back” - MV Modern/Progressive? - “Influencer” - OMV - “Why, Why, Why” - OLV - “Youth” - OLV - “Bubble” - OMV - “Corallium” - OLV Tender & Beautiful? - “Wonderland” - official live video - “Daydreaming” - OMV - “Memorable” - OMV - “About Us” - OLV - “Bestie” - OMV (all English) from new album! Acoustic? Oh, yes!! - “Catharsis” - OLV - (Christmas show) - “Sayonakidori” - OLV (MIKU Song!!) - “Puzzle” (acoustic special) - OLV And where it all began: - “Thrill” - OMV - the video that saved them. Then dozens and dozens more from our special Maids. In fact, lead guitarist Kanami Tono just became the first Japanese artist with a PRS Limited Edition model, personally handed to her by Paul Reed Smth at a ceremony in Tokyo a few weeks ago. As for the Mexican Villarreal sisters, The Warning, check out - “Automatic Sun” - OMV Band-Maid and The Warning are friends and collaborators!!! - “Show Them” - OMV They recently released their collaboration on “Show Them” was a special moment for both bands!! The Warning have released a Behind-the -Scenes which is fantastic! You see a bit of the worked together despite the language difficulties. - The Warning First Trip to Japan with BAND-MAID. Enjoy the journey down Band-Maid’s “Pigeon” hole and The Warning rabbit hole!!! Take care and rock on! 🤘🏼🔥🎸🥁🎤🎹🎶😎✌🏼

DadJams, you just reacted to one of the best rock and roll band on the planet right now. Band-Maid is not confined to any genre, because they are the genre. If you want to see how far this band has come in their, now, dozen years together and after recording over 140 songs, you need to react to "Hate?", the official live video. The song show-cases their individual and group talent. After listening to Band-Maid and other all-female Japanese rock bands, you're going to want to book a trip to Japan. By the way, I'm 75 and have seen and heard A LOT of great rock music in my life, from the iconic. i.e. Cream, The Doors, The Byrds, Led Zeppelin, The Allman Brothers Band, All the Southern Rock bands. Hell, I even saw Elvis Pressley. This band restores my faith that rock (and the guitar solo) is not dead. I have been to two Band-Maid live concerts and they are two of the best concerts I have been to in my life. How about a t-shirt saying "Guitar Shredders Needed". Also, as a tribute to guitar prowess and great compositional skills, Paul Reed Smith, just presented Kanami Tono, Band-Maid's lead guitarist and composer, her own PRS Signature Model during a presentation in Japan. She is among only a dozen or so guitarists to have received such an honor. She is the first Japanese guitarist, male or female, to receive such an honor. As far as guitar solos go Kanami, has one in almost every Band-Maid video, either official live or official music video. MISA, the band's bass guitarist, is also integral in the band's sound and has many bass solos in their music. (Refer back to "Hate?")

Most of us wonder why it took so long discover this and so many other great bands from Japan and Korea. It's honestly a shame what passes for music these days in the West where it's much more about creating celebrities and not musicians. Kanami Tōno (遠乃 歌波) - lead guitar (musical composer extraordinaire - the princess) Akane Hirose (廣瀬 茜) - drums, percussion (see bananas ... and ramen - the gorilla) Misa - bass guitar (drinks hard liquor and performs without shoes on stage - the barefoot assassin) Saiki Atsumi (厚見 彩姫) - lead vocals ("we dance in the palm of her hand" - Domination - The Queen)

Band-Maid gets more progressive from this point forward. One of the best rock bands you will ever hear from any era. Just no bad songs from this band. On the hard side, maybe Rinne, Blackhole, proggy hard From Now On, Giovanni. Check out live videos also since their live performances are powerful and excellent.

Connections with the other bands you mentioned: 1/ Lovebites: they were in the audience for Band-Maid's 10th anniversary concert at the Yokohama Arena (highly recommended video: "Hate?" live - you'll LOVE IT) 2/The Warning: friends of Band-Maid, both bandsrecently collaborated on "Show Them" 👍

Best rock band out there, bar none. This was the song and MV that literally saved the band, until it went viral on Facebook they were about to be dropped by their then record company. The maids just released their 9th studio album a couple of months ago, they have well over 100 songs to listen to, and 99% of them have a guitar solo. But they are definitely best experienced live, pick any of their live videos from their official YT channel and see what they can really do.

You've come to the right place for guitar solos. Proof? PRS Guitars just made their 40th anniversary signature guitar for Kanami of Band-Maid. 1st Japanese artist, 1st women and I believe the youngest. Only 9 others e.g. Carlos Santana.

Bring back guitar solo => Listen to Band Maid ;) Kanami is the 1st Japanses to have a PRS signature Guitar for a reason. And of course Band Maid is even better live. so treat your self and go for the official live video. Enjoy the ride :)

Welcome, D-Jam. You are embarking on (along with many others - 220 million YT views, plus over 40 million reactor plays!) an awesome, progressive, hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid: BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Prog, Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (144 songs), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destined for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off-the-rails spectacular! Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 80 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5XWaJppgpJnorM Their songs from albums Unleash, Unseen World, Conqueror, World Domination, Just Bring It, Brand New Maid, and New Beginning drive even more - Hate?, Shambles, Influencer, Warning, No God, Different, Black Hole, Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Don’t You Tell Me, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, You, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on. But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, The One, Bestie, About Us, Memorable, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, At The Drop Of A Hat, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or progressive like No God, Giovanni, and Black Hole… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like From Now On, Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts… or their many acoustic versions like Catharsis and Sayonakidori... and last but not least, their Anime hits (AniMaid) like Protect You, Sense, Different, Glory and Unleash!!!!! (from their own Anime MV (series?)): kzbin.info/www/bejne/bX2lkHiGiJlrfqc) And many songs are represented with over 50 well produced music videos. kzbin.info Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYUJI concerts: 2023 Yokohama 10th Year Anniversary Concert “Endless Story” kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJKUqmCIh7uXbZI ONLINE OKYU-JI (Feb. 11, 2021) “No God” kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHLHiKF_h896l80 Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA (February 14, 2020) “Domination” kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5PcgnaAo5ulj8k ZEPP 2018 “Real Existence” kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6K0n35_gbdoq5I Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 and other full concerts are on bandmaidprime.tokyo, bili, and official Band-Maid’s DVD/BD/CD. And some of the better quality fan videos are excellent. Shot by Pat McKee from their 2023 US tour concert in Detroit: kzbin.info/www/bejne/epjbhmCDi8-nl5I See the Maids 2023 Rockville Festival’s short-set perfection performance: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJu9nIGbpKygnsU Great photo collage with older classic songs from P in D: www.youtube.com/@PinD-PANIC If you like Band-Maid, make sure to support them by purchasing some concert tickets, live streams, CD, DVD/BD & merch, etc. bandmaid.tokyo Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Don’t Let Me Down, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. For fun, check out: "Mega Band-Maid Mix" by DJ Ray of some of their earlier stuff: facebook.com/djrayboston/videos/1004709499579009 Band-Maid MIDI covers: www.youtube.com/@DeanF_MIDI Reimagined compositions of Band-Maid songs: www.youtube.com/@fxdxmusic Band-Maid Members: Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “StarQueen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. At 30 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen! Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 33 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!! Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 33 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more! Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 33 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party! MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 32 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note... uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA! Maidiacs (Maid-e-acts) - Band-Maid’s crazed yet supportive, knowledgeable and loyal Super Fans. [BAND-MAID NEWS] BAND-MAID PRIME - Special Video Distribution Website. Along with nearly 50 great play-through’s by each member, concerts and skits, Band-Maid management / label(s) have included the Acoustic Christmas 2021, ZEPP 2018 and Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 concerts! Fans can now see more than 50 great live performances with awesome audio, etc. like Fate, I Can't Live Without You and the great MISA / Kanami exchange in Don't You Tell Me. Those concerts are two of the best produced & performed concerts ever recorded, IMO. bandmaidprime.tokyo The Maids SOLD OUT 2023 US & Mexico tour wrapped up and was a fantastic success. You have not seen anything yet... Band-Maid has been my favorite band for many years now (I'm an old Dad as well), just nothing better out there... in my opinion. Please do check out more!! So many awesome songs to choose from... I think you would like "Real Existence Live" for the next one. Thanks for sharing your reaction.

Great reaction DJ, subbed! As others are suggesting, From Now On is a masterpiece guitar concerto written and performed by Kanami, with amazing support from the rest of the instruments. I think you'll love it, and the more you go down the pigeon hole, the more amazing guitar solos you'll find. Band-Maid has 140 songs and I'm going to say that maybe 10 of them lack a guitar solo? Maybe? Many of her solos are intentionally short, leaving you wanting more. But many of them are just... like she's captured the spirit of guys like Gary Moore, Eddie Van Halen, Dimebag Darrell... I could go on and on. Her chops are great, but her COMPOSING is absolutely next level.

Thrill is the video that put Band-Maid on the map. The way I understand it is that Band-Maid's record company was about to drop them but gave them money to create a video for their single Love Passion Matador. The band decided to make the video for the B-Side of the single instead which is Thrill. The video went viral with millions of views around the world in no time at all and the record company ended up keeping them around. If you watch this video closely you will see that Miku did not know how to play rhythm guitar at this time and was simply holding it as a prop for the video. Kanami later taught her how to play it and she has become a vital part of Band-Maid's live sound. She even has her own signature guitar now made by Zemaitis called Flappy Pigeon. I am late to the party judging by how many Maidiacs have already commented. I will echo the fact that Band-Maid is currently one of the best hard rock bands on the planet. Their live shows which they call Okyuji (servings) to keep with the maid cafe theme, are simply incredible. They routinely play for 2 hours or more. Their 10th year anniversary tour finale okyuji at Yokohama Arena was around three and a half hours long. They released a few official live videos from that concert that you may want to check out. Don't You Tell Me and Hate are straight up bangers with guitar vs bass duels, and Endless Story is a tear jerker ballad that even choked up the lead singer, Saiki, and the drummer, Akane, since it was the last song of their 10th year anniversary tour. Also, they just released a collaboration with The Warning called Show Them which is a must listen. Some other song suggestions are Moratorium, No God, Rinne, Onset, From Now On, Without Holding Back, About Us, Play, Why Why Why, Clang, and Matchless Gum. I hope that you choose to continue into the Band-Maid pigeon hole. Yes, pigeon hole, as Miku Kobato (band founder, rhythm guitar, vocals) identifies as an 810 year old pigeon. Yes, that is crazy but you will get used to it. (LOL) Have fun with it!
