Saiki says this song most accurately embodies Band Maid's soul. It certainly highlights their playing skill which is awesome to say nothing of Saiki's voice and her ability to sing an entire song without seemingly breathing. Notice Kanami's look to Saiki for approval after her brilliant solo.

Definitely check out more of them! Pick any song you want! There isn't a bad Band-Maid song, and they're also definitely a live band. I would go as far as to say they sound better live than they do in the studio. So much talent!

There are no bad Band-Maid songs. Generally their live performances are better than their music videos. With that in mind I would suggest "Play", "Puzzle", "Moratorium", "Take Me Higher" and an instrumental "Onset". Be careful, Band-Maid can become addictive and all consuming. Lastly, I think most Band-Maid fans consider them more hard rock than metal. Liked your reaction very much and look forward to more.

Hey Dude! Plenty have already made it clear that Band Maid are Hard Rock with metal influences. But they also enjoy and are AMAZING switching it up and having some fun with a lite rock ballad or straight up pop song. It’s not very often, but they put just as much creativity and earnest effort into their lighter dalliances. So the end result is me, a happy metal head, wondering how someone managed to make him like a pop tune!💪🏻🤘🏻

I was laughing aloud when I saw the name. So Japanese! - Oh and it seems to live by its name too. Listened Japanese metal I suppose 20 years ago. Haven't since. Well, I did check BabyMetal's Karate video, them being reacted by many people. It wasn't for me though. This is much more to my liking! Thanks!

Hi from the UK. Great reaction vid... If you want to hear Saiki's vocals at their best check out Puzzle and Anemone (both acoustic versions from this gig). This track was about 20th in a 2+ hour concert which may account for the "economical" vocals.

The more usual description is they are a hard rock band with some metal and punk influences. They sing in Japanese with a few English phrases. They have one song, "Don't let me down", that is all English. Try their MVs "Dice" and "Daydreaming". Hell, try anything by them. The band was started in 2013. The members are : Saiki Atsumi - main vocalist Miku Kobato - vocalist and rhythm guitar. Band founder. Lyricist for their songs MISA - Bass Kanami Tōno - lead guitarist and song composer. Their early stuff like this song was written for them, but starting with "Alone" they have been writing their own songs,. Akane Hirose - drummer Akane is an admirer of Nao Kawakita the female drummer in the insane Japanese metal band Maximum the Hormone. Kanami is a fan of Carlos Santana and MIsa cites D'arcy Wretzky, the former bassist of Smashing Pumpkins as an influence. They played SF and LA last year, They might be back in the US later this year. They just signed with Live Nation the big US music promoter.

Saiki (the vocalist) is a very strong singer. Just keep in mind this was a live performance, and IIRC, towards the end of their show....which in Japan is usually 20-25 songs long. So definitely some fatigue setting in.

I was in the crowd when they recorded it, at Zepp Tokyo. This is basically the first 'full concert' blu-ray they released, and it was "just" a bonus of a special edition new cd. What happened when they were having fun betwen them ? Fact is, Misa (the bass player) is always playing shoeless, and during this song Saiki (the singer) decided to take off her shoes and kind imitate her and walk around shoeless as well. About the music, as already been told by other people, they are a hard rock band, they aren't a metal band. They have songs that varies from ballads to almost heavy stuff, but in one way or another, I just can't find a bad song coming from them. My all-time favorite is "Alone", but if you want to see how good they are, try to find also from that concert the song "Turn me on" followed immediately by "Don't you tell me" (those are 2 songs played one after the other); you can hear really good guitar and bass solo, especially in Don't you tell me. You won't regret it.
You are right about the vocalist - check out any of their "Official" videos. Another fine click you made me do!

This one is a good example of how much damn fun they are to see live. But not the best example of the lead singers's (Saiki) voice. You're right, there's usually more energy than there was on this one, late into a really long set. They have a solid catalog of great songs. I like to say that other groups have hits, but that BAND-MAID have triples and homeruns. I have to request my favorite BAND-MAID song 'Secret My Lips'. Here's a live one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYHKfHpugqh3oKM And you definitely want to react to this before 'Secret Maiko Lips', the special April 1st 2018 version.

This was the second time I heard Band Maid. I would say pretty okay, not my favorite style, but not bad. I'm not an expert, but I'd say they are more rock than metal. I think I have to check out a few other songs by this band to get an overall view. The band itself seems cool and energetic. It's great that you react to different types of bands.

This song was from early in their carrier where management dictated the songs and music arranments and while very good, once they went independent and took over creative control they only got better and better! They are having fun. I think Saiki (The singer) is challenging MISA to get on the ground in the belief that she won't be able to get up again as she is probably drunk. The girl likes a drink. They are all a bit strange in one way or the other but the drummer Akane is the most normal and therefore the leader of the band. The other guitarist Miku thinks she is a pigeon, believes in ghosts and usually casts a spell on the audience. Saiki is the youngest and quite moody and usually goes out of her way not to participate in promoting the band or interviews and quite often doesn't even look in the right direction. She likes trains and collects model trains (She has a model train wash) she often goes to the race track with Miku to look at horses. She has 5 friends now having had just 3 friends last year. She's super strange but at the same time captivating and mysterious.
@Matthew-ee6nb5 жыл бұрын
The singer, Saiki, was most likely tired. I believe this was the final song of a 20 something song set (sure I read it somewhere), she would have had a couple of 5 or so minute breaks while the other members entertained the crowd, but otherwise they play every song back to back. I've seen them live, it keeps the energy flowing constantly for the whole show. It's not a Band-Maid song, you'll get plenty of suggestions for those but please could you look at Voltage by ガールズロックバンド革命 (Girls Rock Band Kakumei), their drummer is from another world. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5ycpauDpNqIaZY

Yup and Saiki was briefly abducted into the audience before thís song. That's why she was giving someone in the audience the finger at the beginning and why Misa tried to cheer her up ;)
@SagaciousTwo4 жыл бұрын
The interplay there between bass and vocal was because in the song before this on Saiki (singer) went into the crowd and lost her shoes, so she was performing shoe less, and the bass player, MISA, always plays shoe less, so she came over to make fun of Saiki. Just good fun among friends.

Reason for the smiling? Shoe-less. OMG at 2:33 Saiki our lead singer starts laughing when her and MISA come together. Saiki is NOT wearing any shoes. (2:42-2:44) Both her and MISA and barefoot on stage. MISA is like . . . welcome to the club . . . isn't that more comfortable!? As someone else mentioned this was the end of the show. Standing in high heels for 2 hours and dancing around the stage can be brutal. At the end of the song they are back on though. I guess she had them by the drum platform.

These kids are going to be the next super group Cream (1966-68) who imploded due to egos and fights but made some awesome music over 4 albums and 3 short years. This group is well on their way to be as good and I dare say maybe better if they stay together and keep working with their gifts!!

One of their earlier songs before they got control of their music. LIVE is the only way to go and really the best way to really feel this band is Take Me Higher LIVE (kzbin.info/www/bejne/rHfcipyGeb-tmtk). If you are are really going down this rabbit hole you are in for a wild ride. Great reaction and let's see where this goes as the BM army is about to come after you just like Floor's NW horde. BTW this is the best rhythm section since the super group Cream was together (1966-1968) and they may eventually be even better.

Some female JMetal: Lovebites (PV promo vid as opposed to MV music...), Don’t Bite the Dust. They sing all in English kzbin.info/www/bejne/faKQe41smcqMra8 Not as big as the BM bands, but Def international. Bridear, Scream (live). This song is actually in English, tho it’s very tough to hear thru their accent. Listen in the slow part, “I finally realized how much it meant to have you by my side”, sweet girls (HA!) kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6jTaYWBgZ6Fr7s This band is basically less metal(sounding) than BandMaid (this from before BandMaid started btw), but they are so proficient on their instruments that they make best of lists anyway. Similar amount of English as BandMaid, tho hard to hear like Bridear; listen for the drummer “you should. Not de-nounce. me...” and “do you. Think that. You want to beat on me...” Doll$Boxx, Take My Chance kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6aVq2eLm56HncU Enjoy!
