@@Marcus_C51 It's very nice that they have opened the possibility to donate. Almost all reactors have Patreon and gather tons of money during streams reacting to BAND-MAID. Naturally, the band itself should get some money too!

@@VladimirChupin I was under the impression that the band DID get a percentage of reactors take, so they aren't getting any? I'm really unclear on how reactors profits work. Do you know the lowdown on that? I've toyed with the idea of being a reactor except all I'd be interested in reacting to is Band-Maid-ha ha! I've pre-ordered the "Sense" release and have "Yolo" coming soon. "Unseen World" is on deck then all I will have is "Start Over" to buy and I'll have the complete CD collection-yes! I did see "Glory" on Amazon, do you have that? Anyway, I hope you are well and staying safe, we're having a bad surge in Alaska right now. No fun, just staying close to home.

@@Marcus_C51 I do have my own reaction channel: kzbin.info/door/f_bS-0QzK5pjKnD7oaS23Q But I don't have a clue how it all works. I don't monetize any of my channels. And I think even if I would, the only thing I would know is the words "This video cannot be monetized because of copyright claims." Logically, all money from ads in such videos with claimed copyright should go to the label, but I have not seen any official explanation from Google or any musicians about it. My reaction channel is also almost solely dedicated to BAND-MAID music. Sometimes I was speaking about some other bands as well, which I like. But I don’t really consider myself a “reactor,” it’s more a fan channel, where The Maidiacs may share their love for the band. It’s a very good idea to have your own channel, you should really have one, if you feel like it. If you are a fan, you certainly have something to say about them. I’d be very interested to see what your channel will be like! I don’t have the full collection of BAND-MAID disks. But I’m missing only some exotic ones, all the major ones I do have. The two singles Bubble and Glory were released on the same day, and I ordered a special package, with three bonus disks. There was that promotional deal, if you order both singles, you get also three bonus CDs with studio version of “onset,” acoustic Puzzle, and acoustic Anemone. There was a post in a Facebook group BAND-MAID ORDER, where Barry Wayne Curtis has demonstrated his collection. He’s a fan from early years of BAND-MAID, so, he has it almost complete. He says: Barry Wayne Curtis May 31st, 2021 My Band-Maid collection on one shelf, with all other Japanese band's music on the shelf below. When my order from Zen Market arrives with the 3 bonus CD's that vendors offered with Unseen World my "for retail sale" Band-Maid collection will be completely up to date. I am missing 3 things that were only available as promotion items: the YOLO 12" vinyl single, the YOLO cassette, and the 2016 UK Tour Special DVD. I hope you remain safe and healthy, no matter what! Here in Moscow, we have an Indian Summer now. It’s sunny and quiet, with a temperature at 50°F during the day, and 35°F during the night. Still good, no snowing yet.

@@VladimirChupin Thanks for the detailed info on the CDs and the more exotic releases. I'm not a completionist but my friend riloh58 is-ha ha, I guess he's got it bad. That 2016 UK Tour Special DVD sounds intriguing, most likely a very pretty penny for one if you can find one at all. I went by your channel and really enjoyed the Akane drum solo video, she cracks me up--dancing away and waving...then there was that crazy guy chanting her name (ha ha). It was cool to see once again how into the fans they are and how they like to be entertained as well. I haven't seen how the covid situation is in Japan, still going to be quite some time before they can travel I imagine. Yeah, maybe I'll get a channel on here started, I'm not feeling very photogenic these days but when I get more in the swing of things it's a possibility. It sounds like we're having about the same weather here in Alaska that you're having, cool in the 40's and 50's with some rain but thankfully no snow. Not looking forward to that! My Dad also lives in Moscow--Idaho however! Did you know it existed? Idaho is quirky state, it's motto is "Famous Potatoes"-ha ha! Well, everywhere has to have some sort of claim to fame I guess. Take care, stay safe over there as well !

Yeah I feel the same. I'm a middle aged Japanese living in Australia for a long time thinking Japanese music these days sucks big time. I was wrong. Just because talented bands including band maid don't appear on TV often doesn't mean the Japanese music scene is dead. I've also heard that there are other all-girl bands like them are just as good or better, but band-maid is the only one l find is actually great. The bass player and the drummer is unbelievable and the rest of the band is also improving and evolving. Btw I find wagakki band really good as well, maybe a bit too fusion-ey to your taste, but it's fun to see shamisen player shredding and shakuhachi flute player going berserk like a maniac monk.

100% agree. Saiki Atsumi. Has a great distinctive voice to start with, has been developing her technique for openness and power without straining. She had to have "nodes" on her vocal cords surgically removed in 2017 due to previous vocal strain, but is now stronger than before. She had worked in bands as a singer and dancer before, but Band-Maid is her first gig as frontwoman and full band member. And she has done an amazing job. Yes, stunning, isn't she? She has done fashion modeling in Japan in the past, and I believe still does as she has time. For a different perspective on her beauty, check out their "Band-Maiko" videos, where they dress in traditional Maiko (Geisha in training) outfits and grooming.

Yes, I agree Misa MIsa IMHO is one of the best bassists working today. Her radiant tone alone sets her apart! Nobody really has anything close. I rarely see someone absolutely drive a band with such a potent groove like she does. She and Akane are so tight, hand in glove--what a powerhouse rhythm section. When she takes control-look out! On the live "Manners" I swear I was hearing a bit of Entwhistle as she tore it up. BAD-ASS! The song rocked so hard! Such inventive bass lines and superb fills! And yes, there is so much respect between all of the band members it's a beautiful thing!

It was a thing with British singer/composer Joe Jackson from the late 70s until well into the 90s. His bassist Graham Maby was not only an old friend but also very capable, so Joe tended to write quite melodious basslines while the guitar was often reduced to a somewhat percussive role.

For anyone saying Saiki lost her heels and got pulled into the crowd, it's not true. I've got the DVD and watched it just to see now. During the previous song they played - Freedom, during the guitar solo Saiki actually takes off her shoes before she goes to sing in the crowd. Probably because it'd be difficult to stand on the barricade in heels. You can actually see her stepping down during the last chorus and probably running around to backstage to reemerge when Real Existence starts, she never gets "kidnapped". Also when the solo ended, Miku took off her guitar and picked up the mic ready to sing lead in the last chorus which she never does. It was all planned for her to sing it alone, walking between Saiki's shoes and the monitors. No one stole her shoes. And during the outro of Freedom you actually see one of the tech's pick up her shoes and place them out of the way near Akane for her. She was only barefeet because she never had time to put them back on when the song started.

Sadly, their concerts in Europe have almost never been sold out (I think the exception is Bochum 2017, because on the weekend, and London a year later), even when they are as tiny as the LOGO in Hamburg, and in cities with over a million inhabitants. This has always somewhat dampened my joy at my three B-M gigs. That's why I'm a bit worried about how their European tours will be in the future, so that there will be a profit left.

BAND MAID is a band of five cute and smooth girls becoming Godzillas on the stage with the aim of eat your heart and your soul. In a metaphor I could say that they are the Gremlins of rock. They don't need water, they need to be in front of a crowd and then we all shout and run together to the happiness like a bunch of kids in the kindergarden. They bring us the freedom.

Please stop with the hyperbole. Band Maid are amateur at best, their playing skill is amateur at best (their own opinion) and they are next to unknown. They don't even play in English for heavens sake, the worlds most broadly universal language. The majority of people haven't even heard of them and they will NEVER in a million years reach the stage that AC/DC and beyond ever did. That age is over. I don't have an issue with BM and their career and history is impressive in THEIR own right. But to say they are the rebirth of rock just shows how hilariously thick you are. You must have no concept or experience of mastering sound, of engineering or composition whatsoever. The reason girls like these idolize and attempt to mimic the sounds of the western past, is because it sells famously well here in Asia. We enjoy the sound because it isn't native to an extent. Compared to the western power bands of old however BM is a amateur joke. And you casting a band from a world away as somehow superior in threads like these; is precisely why up and coming western music is DEAD. You brought that on yourself with your laziness, perversions over our women and overall bigoted western ignorance and attempts at cultural appropriation. Its why so many of us are sickened by your western ego and attitudes. By all means listen to our music and enjoy them; but please cut down this stupid exaggeration that has destroyed entire regions of your own music. The time will come when the world is past BM and bored of the Japanese sound. Then what? Are you going to look to Africa and Russia for your new sound? How about you shut the fuck up and make something decent of your own again. So that we can, along with girls of Band Maid, be inspired by WESTERN metal and rock like we used to be. Our current Bandmaid/BabyMetal/and so many others, mostly came about because you NUKED our old country literally and forced change. We learned to appreciate WEST and emulate it again. Now as you notice you have NOTHING. So take this post as I intend it. Because we grow weary of it. Focus on your own music and give us something to listen to as well. Stop putting your own nations down 24/7 and doing nothing except stare at ours. You are in some constant pity party or something. Grow the fuck up and be the west we remember and were inspired by.

I wonder if it's just my bad Japanese that made me think that, or if she wrote it that way on purpose just to be cute. I love when Saiki calls MISA over during the high part on the bass and puts her arm around her shoulder, and that big smile on MISA's face when her hair moves out of the way. And then The Darkness Sisters get down, just to show off a little bit. How cool was that!

See, a lot of Band-Maid's contemporaries rock really well on stage, but often times the weak link live is the singer. Saiki, however, really keeps up, and it is a LOT of work she is doing, due to the speed and intensity of the material. The SEVEN studio albums in about as many years alone would be great listening experience, but then they pull it off live, too. Constantly.
