Yep. I've been playing guitar in rock bands for over 35 years. If you had told me in my youth that one day, one of my favorite bands would be petite Japanese girls dressed in maid outfits, I'd have said you're crazy.....yet here we are! LOL. I'm sure you have a list of reactions, but don't forget about Lovebites: Japanese "princesses" playing power metal (like Dragonforce). You'll fall in love with them too. Fun fact: The drummers of Band Maid and Lovebites hang out together. Looking forward to the next one!

@@bruthabluto8824 - Yeah, usually a rock band does creative work the first couple of albums and then deteriorate. If we're lucky they put out a lame one and a stinker and then a couple of decent ones again. But Band-Maid pushes beyond their previous limits and come up with more ideas and new catchy riffs and even greater skills to play and sing them. Every time. They continue to develop as individual talents and as a group, every freaking album. I have four so far and want to get them all. They have never disappointed me in any way, and that is extraordinary. I see them changing recording companies every so often. Legendary British drummer "Ginger" Baker was among the first rock drummers to use double bass kick drums. He had planned to be a bicycle racer before he took up drums, trained for years, and afterward the bass kicks kept up his leg work! Akane uses one kick bass drum, but a double pedal setup so she can really hammer it. Sounds almost like two big drums. The "shut up" from Saiki at the end was directed at critics who had been saying they had abandoned hard rock when they had released a couple of milder tunes.

I had the pleasure of seeing these awesome ladies live and in person for the first time in Dallas in September of 2019 and I must say, it was the most badass show I've ever went to. These ladies have so much energy, it's insane. I was roughly 10' away from the stage on Misa's (the bassist) side. Her along with Akane (the drummer) rattled my insides and almost deaf for roughly 2 hours straight lol. I and a few other people got to see them at a brief meet and greet where they all signed one photo and say what you want to say to them. When and if they perform again here in the States (hopefully soon!), get yourself a ticket, and enjoy one of the best nights of your life! You won't regret it!

Agreed with everything you said here. For various reasons, in the RnR scene esp. metal, the accepted image for artists is very stringent & often masculine, need to dress badass, look & do crazy stuff, etc. So it’s refreshing to see the likes of BM who are opposite (women acting like themselves, dressed in cute feminine outfits) but with all the skills needed & confidence to rock out. Their success is bringing musicianship to the forefront again. That, as long as you got the Skills and Music right, you can Rock out no matter who you are, where you’re from and what you wear. This is something I’ve observed a lot more with Japanese artists and we really do need more of them to step upto the international music scene and makes this trend a popular thing here too.

I have become a Band Maid fan for a few reasons. 1. These girls write their own music, grew their brand the hard way, and have switched record labels several times. I am assuming they eventually get stifled by suits and then they walk. 2. These girls bring something fresh. I am an old school metal head who has grown tired of the same old "grind and anger" songs. The industry and fan base as a whole thinks metal should be a bunch of guys in black ugly costumes playing drop D power chords all the time. 3. The genre needs more women. It is okay to be a "man" and do man things. But everyone once in a while I don't mind the company of women, especially at metal concerts. 4. This is a band I can take my son or daughter to see and rock out feeling safe knowing my daughter is being influenced positively.

Band-Maid are THE best live Rock band on Earth but if you enjoy Metal - and want a very positive female influence for your daughter - then you need to check out some Babymetal. I saw Sabbath live in 1976 and Babymetal last year and hundreds of Metal acts in the interveing 45 years and they are the most refreshing and original new Metal sub-genre - Kawaii Metal/ Cute Metal - in a couple of decades. Try Catch Me If You Can, the best Metal song ever about playing Hide and Seek (because it can't all be about Satan, Halloween masks and industrial construction equipment). This version has a solo from each of the four members of the Kami Band (Babymetal's musicians and it means, quite rightly, Gods Band) as an intro and also has English subtitles so you can all sing along! : kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJibhpKgZcyjgqs

It seems nobody has posted it yet? The lyrics were translated by Peter Lim, a fellow Maidiac, who is now living in Japan: Rinne/Reincarnation Taking my time I rise and fade and fall It’s a tragic reincarnation Going round and round in abandonment I’ve come to hate this excess state of mind I struggle with this hate What good is it for? What’s the point of it? This see-through secret Not more Stupid yeah Open your eyes ‘Cuz even if you stop breathing The world won’t change at all I know…. So then if it can’t end Even a meaningless mistake Twists the gears You know… The ticking of the clock doesn’t stop Get down That’s enough It can’t be fixed, I’m not waking up It separates, and life just keeps growing Rolling in, round, go ahead and go around Anywhere, to a place far away Go far away I should zip my lips Spit out this pain I’ll leave it up to you I felt like I heard a voice Close your eyes Even if the dream ends No one comes to help I know… This is why I can’t sleep Even when always doing right Nothing is born from faking it You know…. Break the ticking clock and Get down Reincarnation Living and Dying Why? What do you live for? Even if you cry out You can’t save anything in this world Honesty doesn’t pay That makes no sense Open your eyes ‘Cause even if you stop breathing The world won’t change at all I know….. It just doesn’t end Set me free Get down It’s sink or swim Shut up!

@@JustJenRx It's about a horror movie with the same name. I think from 2005, something like this. Hi Jen, BAND MAID THINK AND BAND MAID DO, I also listened to Baby Metal they are a great band but I find them very repetitive with dizzying and fast solos and many times obvious but always excellent musicians, I also listened to Lovebites excellent musicians but the female copy of Dragonforce, I love Band Maid for the writing never obvious, for the variations, the first verse is always different from the second with different bass lines, drums and guitar, not many bands do this and they become so static, if you listen well with headphones Misa changes and adds small virtuosities and Kanami sometimes it's as if he did a solo for the whole song always changing something in the rif or in the accompaniment, example is "Play" Live does not stop a moment. . and a great guitarist is felt by the touch and not only by the speed but by the sensitivity and creativity, this is my thought as a guitarist and musician and I close by saying that every time I listen to the Band Maid after I'm happy and I do not know why they make me happy.... I voted for you and good luck

Jen, when are you going to get your "grown ass musician men" friends on a reaction video of "Dice" or other hella song? Also, the youngest Band Maid member is 28. Another sample of Japanese rock? Stereo pony - sadly, they've disbanded, but it was a 3-piece for starters. (kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIq5XouAmd-oprs) Saiki is considered by talk shows hosts as "tsundere" - a type of girl most Japanese guys prefer - ice queen with the warmest heart once you get on their good side.

Reincarnated as a Band-Maid roadie? I'm sure there's a long line for that. 😁

I really enjoy all the reaction videos that are out there but one thing I noticed is that while all the reactors always ask the viewers to "like, subscribe & comment" on their reactions, they never encourage the viewers to go to a band's official video or KZbin channel (if they have one) and do the same. Would be cool to start seeing that. :)

The song is pronounced Ree-nay. This song from what I can gather is about the absurdity of living with the idea of reincarnation (what Rinne translates to) truly is. They're basically saying that the only life we're guaranteed to have is this one, do live now.

@@JustJenRx Well. you kept saying Rin-ee. Like it was runny (with an i). Think of it like you had to vote nay on something, only to have vote nay on it again. You had to vote re-nay.😉😎😜😂🤣

So you say you like metal and haven't done a reaction to Lovebites yet? It's about time now. They're another all female Japanese band, but unlike Band-Maid, hey are a straight forward power metal band with some thrash influences as well. Thunder Vengeance is a good one to start: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4ioaIOneNV6n5Y
