BAND-MAID’s song The Dragon Cries, which is featured on their third studio album CONQUERORーreleased on December 11, 2019ーwas produced by none other American veteran record producer Tony Visconti. Visconti is known for having worked with a plethora of some of the biggest names in music history, including David Bowie and T-Rex. He himself sent an enthusiastic offer to the band to work with them. Visconti said he liked the band’s originality, and that getting to meet them in real life was like a dream come true. He explained how Saiki and Miku sang for almost 8 hours, which he revealed is longer than any other artist he has known. He commended their professionalism, and that they greatly met his expectations. Miku Kobato also commented: “We also got to record vocals in the same studio in New York where David Bowie recorded. He listened to our wishes and opinions while producing for us. We are truly grateful. We’d like to work hard so that the next time we meet Tony, we can show him we’ve grown even more.”

Thanks guys, for turning up the playback volume... and for another Band-Maid reaction! Dragons, a poignant commentary of the crappy, current state of the world, is a great plunge into the bluesy rock style given to us by Hendrix and others. Heard live (and without the overly compressed mix), the song jumps from the souls of the members and into our minds as a warning. Let's all heed that warning!

Tony should've got you to do the mix :)

@@GaryHolloway-810 What a dream that would be, Gary. Just to sit in and listen on a B-M session would floor me. I'm hoping one day they post on Prime a full-on recording session. Jinjer and The Warning have been doing some of that lately as they get ready to release their new albums. But to see a half to one hour document of their creation / recording process... OMG!

@@TomClark-Futoura That would be awesome Tom. I'm enjoying the content they have on Prime at the moment, Okyu-ji 2020 i watched last night. I hope they upload often :)

@@GaryHolloway-810 FYI - Gary, here's what I wrote B-M Prime on 05/14/21 (translated to Japanese): 1) Please make sure video volumes are consistent across all videos and are set to a high db level to meet every users requirements. 2) Please include as much content as possible, especially packages that include personal, back stage, staff / fixed camera recordings from live concerts, rehearsals and everyday business and pleasure activities of each member and as a group. 3) Subscribers want value that they are getting plenty of insider and behind-the-scenes footage and insight of the members. It would be best to included current and new videos contained on their main website as a separate menu option (not mixed in with the Band-Maid Prime videos) as well. 4) Also, a user "submit video" section of their own interactions, tributes and other "user" Band-Maid related content would be valuable to make Prime more interactive. 5) Include English translations to as much content as possible! All of these suggestions are to increase B-M Prime subscriptions and for fan-band bonding, so important for their growth. Thank You.

@@TomClark-Futoura That's absolutely great Tom, especially N°4. That's a really clever idea & something i'd never thought about. See, that fertilisation of your mind works :)

They say they learned from this song that a simple arrangement is effective. Misa's mother told her that their performance was finally closer to the real thing. The lyrics are written by a friend of Visconti. There is a Japanese religious idea that a white snake is a messenger of a god who will eventually transform into a dragon. The dragon is the god of nature.

More classic rock sound. Hendrix vibe. Not many likes this song but it's actually one of my favorite. Great song.

Not normally a Band-Maid fan, but did like that one. I'm an 8.7 for this one

Would you please tell me, Basil, why you're usually not a Band-Maid fan. I'm very curious about what's holding the band back from becoming even more popular than they are. Thanks much!

This song has really grown on me, wasn't something I liked at the start. I think it's the American influence from Tony Visconti, the producer for this song. Song is in English, btw. Kanami and Misa are really great in this song! Akane's drums are awesome 👌! Saiki and Miku are really singing from the heart!

Earth pollution and mentioning also the trash circling round the earth 24 hours day by day, I'll go an 8,8 for this sad song, but it's the reality.

The difficulty you have with understanding the words "dragon" and "cries" may (or may not) simply be the difficulty that the Japanese have with "R's" and "L's" - our Japanese guide told us that is because the Japanese language has a sound that's like half way between these two letters. It never bothered me just because my normal tendency is to ignore the lyrics in order to concentrate on the music itself. I just love this band period - the more you listen to them the more you just like everything they do.

What's wrong with rating? Most reaction channels do rate. Also it's a good way for viewers to judge how much we liked it
