Also the writers began to really flesh out Duncan as a character to the point that while Connor is, in many ways, an anti-hero while Duncan became a noble hero with an honor code. Before this fight and for a while after it, MacLeod fought and killed a lot of schlubs. Immortals who were about his age or a lot younger and weren't very impressive otherwise. Killing Grayson is what I think kicked MacLeod up another notch into the badass Immortal we see later in the series. Grayson was likely the most powerful quickening he'd taken up until this point, and that lucky win he got against Grayson was probably what made it possible for him to take down the more powerful Immortals he encounters later on.

However this was dropped and the Gathering plotline disappeared by season 2. One thing for sure was that Kalas would not have lost his head when he did if his sword had not been broken. I think the fight would have lasted for a much longer time. No Immortal, with the exception of Kronos, would have given Duncan such an excellent fight. I wished they had a movie with Kalas and Kronos in it, along with Connor and Duncan MacCleod. Now, that would be an awesome fight!! The two Highlanders vs the two Killers!! :) Hehe Oh, that's it!! I will call my Immortal fantasy archrival "Killer" as his nickname. :)

great, fun series. I never understood exactly how much power Duncan absorbed from killing another immortal. Sometimes, they would show him jumping off a three story building or catching up to a motorcycle on foot and Sometimes he seemed no stronger than an ordinary man.

Nice about fighting in amongst the Sulphur/Sulfur but , there is Only one thing wrong with that ! Sulfur/Sulphur ignites pretty quick especially with those sparks flying about ,lol ! I worked in a Fertilizer Factory , I know what Sulphur can do ! That very intense Blue Fame , very hard to extinguish !

One of the best fights in the series. Grayson's wondrous immortal warrior met his end in Duncan Macleod's katana. Grayson hadn't expected this big setback from Duncan.

Nicolas Ward, yes!!! Lymon Kurlow caused him trouble, too!!! But I personally think that Grayson was the only one who came so close to take his head. Not Kronos nor Kalas came that close. But it was expected for McLeod to win, wasn't it? If he lost against Grayson, how would the seasons continue???

I wonder if Jesus was the holy man that Darius killed. It was only 500 years after his birth and he did get 'resurrected' initially. Such an intensely good holy man would have the power to produce a transformative quickening.

Grayson never really thought through his plan of killing Darious. Grayson would have become like Darious. If the writers knew that Werner Stocker was ill then Grayson could have been written in to kill him and become Duncans mentor.
@lauriedavis4005 жыл бұрын
But Stefan Lefco i thought the LIGHT/DARK quickenings weren’t necessarily a given? i remember as far as the dark quickening it depended on how much evil was already in the immortal, whether they would retain enough to become completely evil or not. Guess the light quickening rules would have to be kinda different but what _are_ they? Or does the LQ just automatically happen every time? i’m REALLY HOPING 🤞🏻my question makes some sort of sense!!? 🤷♀️

Your thinking of the hyuko whom was killing only bad people for centuries so he had a concentrated amount of dark energy. The Holy Man that Darius killed changed him because he was an elder whom had a concentration of good energy from centuries of meditation and experience that were in direct conflict with Darius's preoccupation with war and dominion.

On the McCloud Darius question of a fight. There seems to be a question if you take more heads does it make your sword fighting better. Or is it practice. Because Dunkin is a relativly young immortal but he would easily beat Methos or Amanda as would Richie

@Doperwtje81 Yes, it was Waterloo. The makers of the show sadly can't control the weather during filming so they decided "what the heck, let's just do it". If it helps, the novel "Shadow of Obsession" also includes that scene and in the book the weather was described accurately.

it's a shame that Grayson is evil, He's rather attractive. *giggle* Darius is really cool. An immortal monk, that's rather neat.

Grayson was neither rusty nor out of shape. He should've beat Macleoud, but in battle sometimes luck plays a part. Conscripted farmers with spears have killed master swordsmen in battle before, and Macleoud was no peasant spearmen.

ZarathustrasCrown It's actually not uncommon for a priest to be present on the battlefield in order for them to bless and ensure a recently departed soldier to the after life. That's likely why Darius was there, and possible to heal those he could.
@cma16767 жыл бұрын
That's why it is normal that a priest is there but it doesn't explain how Darius get to the battlefield, if he stayed on holy grounds.

I agree. Not only that, but there's a baring of the soul in the quickening--Duncan's soul. Adrian Paul does it very well--he's the supplicant to the power of who he is. And I love the fact that it is used in the intro every week--that's why.

The weather conditions during Waterloo of June 18, 1815 was actually a heavy rainfall produced by an electrically charged volcanic ash that swept across all of Europe. That’s one of the reasons why Napoleon lost in Belgium. In contrast to what we see in the flashback, it was not snowing during that event. Needless to say, ‘convictions and com-patriotism’ becomes null and void in the midst of mass bloodshed. That’s why I always liked Darius in the Highlander series. Werner Stocker was good at playing an old wise soul, as we saw in the 2,000 year old monk.

In the early parts of the fight at the sulfur plant, Duncan's coat does a little appearing and disappearing.
