Note that the Grenadier Guards Band has its own company called: Support Company if I'm correct. And other companies (Inkerman & Queens) also participate in ceremonial events. Nijmegen Company had done their Trooping The Colour at 2010, featuring STEVE!
@leemorris69962 жыл бұрын
The band is a separate part of the Grenadier Guards support company has the Corps of Drums/sf mg plt .Ex Grenadier myself signals plt/hq company Nimagen company is the incremental/ceremonial company of the old 2ND Battalion, the Inkerman is Ex old 3rd Battalion 💂♂️

First class video. Anyone else notice the difference in the manner of dress and deportment of the police (armed and regular) Here at Windsor, and at Buckingham and Horse Guards ? The constables at Windsor are definitely a few steps up from the others. To me, the difference should be embarrassing.
@CDB89392 жыл бұрын
The Police at Windsor are Thames Valley Police Officers, The Metropolitan Police cover Buckingham Palace, and The Ministry of Defence Police cover Horseguards Parade as it is a Military Establishment. The Uniforms are nowadays Practical for the job they are doing and not so smart as they used to be, but are made of breathable material. The No 1 smart uniforms that used to be normal wear don't look good if you have to wear Ballistic protection on top.

Why does the trombone player (center front rank) wear a sword?
@mipamat58042 жыл бұрын
Because he is a Warrant Officer, note the twin gold bands on the wrist, the gold treaded collar and the gold tread around the rear pleat on the jacket, but with a white belt. Officers have a slightly taller bearskin, only one and a half gold bands at the wrist, additional gold tread on the collar and rear pleat, and a crimson belt
@robertparry34522 жыл бұрын
@@mipamat5804 Perfect. So, equivalent to a US Sergeant Major or First Sergeant?
@mipamat58042 жыл бұрын
@@robertparry3452 Have a look at "en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranks_and_insignia_of_NATO_armies_enlisted" The trombonist is a Warrant Officer Class 2 with a BandMaster appointment (note the laurel leaves ring around the Crown) and therefore equivlent to the First Sergeant. If you look at "9:29" you will see a Warrant Officer Class 1 (BandMaster) with the Royal Coat of Arms on the lower sleeve

Great video but too much detail,I must get used to 4’10” guards but to see a bandsman marching with sunglasses on is too much, What next Rasta coloured bearskins?
@iancampbell37262 жыл бұрын
Said offender is not even a Grenadier. He's an Irish Guardsman !!
@baronedipiemonte39902 жыл бұрын
My aren't we all proper... there are several reasons for the "sunglasses"... they could be regular eye glasses with the photo chrome lens, or he could have been at the opthalmologist where his eyes were dilated (his vision appeared off @ 2:02). Or possibly he has photophobia - I'll leave you to look that up yourself. I'm a veteran NCO who has photophobia and had written authority from HQ to wear shades in ALL circumstances. You're going to have to get used to a lot of things.... The short statured Ghurkahs were razor sharp, and the band didn't pop one sour note !
@CasinoWoyale2 жыл бұрын
As there's always police lurking around these events, it's noticeable how scruffy and dishevelled looking British police are these days.
@baronedipiemonte39902 жыл бұрын
I just commented on that... especially the marked difference between the ones at Windsor, and the ones at Buckingham and Horse Guards. The London bunch are a scruffy looking lot, and just milling about, looking, in general, like hell... slouching, hands in pockets... And I don't criticize unless I've been there. I'm a retired American military NCO, command grade police inspector, and the US version of the IOPC
@gennibeaumont7372 жыл бұрын
@CasinoWoyale, I recall the days when the Police were without beards and short back & sides hair cuts. Dare not look at their footwear.😏😏
