The year was 1976 when I got my first guitar, a Honer acoustic. I was 15 years old. I was lousy at playing and had only learned two or three chords. I couldn't seem to figure out any rock songs I liked. The was before the internet, folks. One day I was trying to figure out Band On The Run, and I learned that the chord in the short acoustic break, right before the "Well, the rain exploded with a mighty crash" part, was a C chord! Then I figured out the next chord could be played by sort of moving up your second & third fingers. I was SO HAPPY. I must've played that part back 1,000 times and played along with it, LOL! So proud of myself.

I remember being around 10 years old and The Wings Greatest Hits was one of the many cassette's Dad and I use to listen to.. fast forward 18 years and I ended up with the same cd. When ever I want to play Another Day and Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey I jam along with your video's. Now I can add Band on The Run. Hope you're well, and much appreciated for sharing. 😎😎🎶🎸 fantastic.. by any chance know when you do the lessondo you know how to do that little feel that comes in after they say Band on the Run..I noticed on the play along you were growing the chords pretty much through the whole thing on the neck pickup there was sounded good easy to play along.. I wasn't too sure if that electric fills that come in the middle of the song during the bridge on the Band on the Run original were played with a slide or not..

@@jamesjames9275 thanks James I wondered about that.. reason I say that is sometimes when you listen to Eric Clapton sometimes it sounds like he was using a slide when he actually wasn't.. just slide this fingers up and down the strings like on promises and wonderful tonight add peaches and Diesel which I always thought was a slide until I started playing it and was able to slide my fingers up the frets on that🤔

Hey it could be possible it’s very reminiscent of the abbey road medley in its own way and also he didn’t really have a “group” like wings for a little while after the break up Paul thrived quite honestly in a group maybe if this song was even partially written he was saving it for a band type situation.

Band on the Run was Paul's fifth post-Beatles album. I doubt he would have held onto a song with such obvious commercial appeal for that long before releasing it. Beyond that, listen to the lyrics. It's about Wings' current situation in 1973, with band members quitting and Paul/Denny/Linda flying off to Africa to record the album. As for the medley thing, he did that on Ram, too.
